Sept. 24, 1927 - Death of F. W. McKiddy at his home in Wheeling. He is survived by his widow and two brothers, James and Alva and sister, Mrs. McCara. Feb. 22, 1929 - John Melville DeWitt, third son of James DeWitt was born Sept. 24, 1847 and died at the home of his daugh- ter, Mrs. Ella Beckwith, being 81 yrs., 5 mo., and 28 days of age. He came to Wheeling in 1902. His oldest son died in infancy, Survived by Clarence of Wheeling, Bert W., of Meade, Kans., and Mrs. Ella Beckwith of Wheeling. His wife died March 14, 1928.

Smiley, where he continued for 34 yrs. or until Feb, 14, 1929 in Smiley Hardware. Married Jan. 28. 1903 to Bertha Littrell. Children, Ruth, Evelyn and Mary Virginia. Services held in Wheeling Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Webdell, burial in Wheeling Cemetery.

Aug. 23, 1929 - Death of Frank Scruby, born June 3, 1854 in Wisconsin. His father, Captin William was from England, his mother, Elizabeth Jane Pryor was from the Isle of Jersey. He came to Wheeling in 1880 and went into the grain business with his father. He then went into the mercantile business with Dr. W. W. Edgerton. The family moved to Chillicothe in 1891. Postmaster in 1881

Jan. 9, 1930 - Death of Clyde Butler at his home in Wheeling. He was born Nov. 8, 1894 and married Miss Fay Tompkins Dec. 25, 1919. They are the parents of three children. Dorothy, Robert and Mary Louise. He served in France during World War I. Funeral at Christian Church and burial in Wheeling Cemetery.

Jan. 9, 1931 - Van Pearce Clem died at the home of his brother, Harry D., where he made his home for 55 yrs. He was born in Ohio, Oct. 11, 1842. Services held at Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Campbell, burial in Wheeling Cemetery.

Q. depot, where he became agent for several yrs. He organized the Farmers and Merchant Bank in 1893 and was cashier. He was trustee of twp. for 16 yrs. Married Geneva A. Nov. 11, 1931 - Death of W. W. Edgerton, President of Citizens National Bank in Chillicothe. In 1872, he lived in Wheeling and practiced medicine. He married Miss Elizabeth Davis. They had one child, Ethel. He was also en- gaged in mercantile business until 1889. when he moved to Chillicothe.
Nov. 20, 1931 - Funeral services for Mrs. S. J. Brown, died at the home of her son. Et Brown in Wheeling Friday morning. Born Nov. 30, 1847, married Dec. 6, 1865. The following children were born to them - Et, Mrs. Lidia Maple, and Chas Brown. Funeral at Wheeling Christian Church.

1932 - Reuben P. Coleman dies. He was born Oct. 21, 1843 near Hillsdale, Michigan. He married Susan Thompson Dec. 8, 1868, She died July 8, 1923. They lived on a farm North of town until 1923. They lost two sons in infancy, one daughter Ida Belle (accident ) in early womanhood . Surviving are Will R. Coleman and Mrs. Ester Fellows. Wm. Coleman is of the 3rd generation of well drillers and repairmen.

June 31, 1933 - Death of Mrs. H. R. Albertson, mother of Claude Al- bertson occurred in Lincoln, Nebr., where she had lived the past six years. She had been a resident of Wheeling 45 yrs. She operated the telephone switchboard. She was the first operator. Burial in Wheeling Cemetery.

July 15, 1933 - Ferris Blair was born Oct. 27, 1854. He came here when ll yrs. old. He married Nellie Corzette Oct. 10, 1881. His wife died in 1901. Children, George and Delbert Blair and Minerva Cummings of Wheeling. Burial in Rickett Cemetery.
June 15, 1933 - Death of Mrs. Anna May Jacobs wife of Elmer Jacobs. Born Anna May Uhrmacher, daughter of John and Elizabeth at Farmersville Sept. 6, 1891. Moved to Wheeling at age of one year. Married Jacobs in 1917. Survivors include husband and 5 children, Vernon, Mary Frances, Cecil, Melvin and Billy. £ One brother Roy Uhrmacher. Burial in Wheeling Cemetery.
July 19, 1933 - Death strikes James G. Clem, son of Joseph G. and Josina Clem. Born Aug. 27, 1846 in Ohio. Has lived in Wheeling 60 yrs. He married Maria Koyle in Cameron Nov. 25, 1865. Children are Harry D. and Mrs. Cornelia Collins. Services held at Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. E. V. Campbell, burial in Wheeling Cemetery.
June 22, 1933 - Miss Alta Mae Glamser and Mr. Ray Warren were married and left for a trip to the World Fair.
Aug. 1933 - Word received here of the death of Mrs. Zetta Littrell. Her husband, Harrison Littrell, preceded her in death last Oct. (colored)
Aug. 17, 1933 - Ruth DeWitt weds Herbert Van Horn at home of the bride. Oct. 15, 1933 - Miss Frances McKiddy and Roy Warren, both of Wheeling married in the home of Rev. Ervin.
Oct. 29, 1933 - Miss Gene Thomas of Palmyra and Mr. Dean Ralston were married at home of bride. She was band instructor at Breckenridge.
Nov. 16, 1933 - Death of Lucy Gibson wife of J. W. Gibson. She was born June 1, 1890. Children, Edna and James Chapman by a former marriage. Funeral Eversonville Baptist Church.
Nov. 29, 1933 - Ralph Head and Miss Tressie Brobst were married.
Dec. 21, 1933 - Hines Shiflet, brother of Benton, died in Colorado.
Dec. 23, 1933 - Death of Mrs. Pansy E. Littrell, wife of Judge J. G. Littrell, born Pansy E. Thonington, July 17, 1884, married May 30, 1915. Services at Wheeling Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Huckell, burial in Wheeling Cemetery.
1934 - Miss Edna Chapman married Kenneth Hurst of Chula.
1934 - Death of Judge J. G. Littrell, husband of Pan sy Littrell. He was Probate Judge several years before going to Chillicothe he was in business in Wheeling. He had several brothers and sisters, namely: Sadie, Ida, Maude, Etta, Wm. V., Edd, and Flay.
Jan. 3, 1934 - Pleman ( Fritz) Gandy died of pneumonia at home. Burial in Wheeling Cemetery.
Apr. 1, 1934 - Charles Shaffer Jr. and Miss Edith Switzer, both of Wheeling and graduates of Wheeling High School, married.
Apr. 15, 1934 - Miss Mary Virginia Tompkins and Ralph Edwards, both of Wheeling, married at Galesburg, Illinois.
Oct. 30, 1934 - Death of James E. Goff, old time citizen of Wheeling. He died at his home in Eldorado Springs. Services at Methodist Church at Wheeling, with burial in Wheeling Cemetery . Children, Mrs. Walter Meade and Russell. Sisters, Mrs. Myra Jones, Mrs. Anna Hill, Mrs. James W. Hill and four brothers, Henry, Fred, Charles and Will.
Nov. 24, 1934 - Death of Louisa Maria Evertson Smiley, born near Coatsburg, Ill. on August 16, 1869. Married to Frank L. Smiley Nov. 4, 1891 at Fountain Grove. Member of Wheeling Baptist Church in Sept. 1904 where services were held. Burial in Wheeling Cemetery. Survivors are husband, 2 sons, Hubert E. and Frank E. Jr., and 2 daughters, Ethel Ester, now Mrs. Alfred Love and Ruth Tempest, now Mrs. Leon Norman, 5 grandchildren, one sister, Mary Mounds, four brothers, Joel, John, Charles and Henry.
Feb. 2, 1935 - Mrs. Mary Allen Wisehaupt was born Nov. 25, 1844, passed away. She married Rev. Leonard Wisehaupt in 1868. They came to Livingston Co., in 1879. Children are Luther, Frank, John Allen, William, Charles and Thomas.
1935 ?- Harvey Strickel, age 62 died at his home in Wheeling. Resident of Livingston County for 25 years. Buried at The eling.
Feb. 6, 1935 - Joel A. Wiley, born Jan. 10, 1856, family of 6 boys and 3 girls, clerked 1875 in a Wheeling general store 3 yrs. Later with Dr. J.C. Gish - went into business for him- self. Married Minnie A. Carey Apr. 29, 1880. Children Zulah May, Floyd A., Herbert V. and Minnie Fay. Remained in business until 1896. Mrs. Wiley died Nov. 12, 1914. He returned to Wheeling and remained until health failed. Married Hattie Churchill Dec. 17, 1924. Lived with daughter, Fay, last 2 yrs. Funeral held Wheeling Bap- tist Church, conducted by Rev. Huckell, burial in Wheeling Cemetery.
