Mar. 3, 1935 - Death of Mrs. Henry Cornwell at her home in Chillicothe. She had been a long time resident of Wheeling, her husband was the village blacksmith for many years. He died Nov. 1, 1924. They had four girls and a son.

Jan. 16, 1936 - Gertrude B. Jones was born in Madison, Wis., Nov. 9, 1859. She came to Wheeling as a small child and lived practically her entire life here. She married John Winfield Kimmis, March 15, 1881 and leaves one son Dora W. Kimmis, She was a member of the Wheeling Methodist Church.
Jan. 23, 1936 - Clayton Kimmis and Miss Grace James were married in the home of Rev. Huckell in Chillicothe.
Feb. 1, 1936 - Mary Adeline (Fenstermaker) Whitebread, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Fenstermaker, was born Nov. 17, 1841 in Pa. She was married to Josiah Whitebread, March 22, 1858. To this union was born Henry Whitebread, Mrs. Mary Littrell, Mrs. Addie Tompkins, Mrs. Ida Frazier, Ira, Asa and an infant son. In 1868 they came from Ill., settling about 12 miles north of Wheeling. In 1871, moved into Wheeling and in 1906 moved to farm where she died. Services held at Wheeling Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Sausman, burial in Wheeling Cemetery .

Feb. 18, 1936 - Andrew Davidson Clark, son of Sarah and Ivan Clark was born Nov. 16, 1880 in Va., and died at his home northwest of Wheeling. Came to Missouri in 1902 and married Miss Etta Littrell, Nov. 20, 1904. Six children Russell, Ralph, Aubrey, Wade, Mildred and Annabell (Clark ) Kimmis. Services at Wheeling Baptist Church, burial in Wheeling Cemetery.
Feb. 20, 1936 - Nancy (Haggard) Walby died of a heart attack. She had four daughters, Dora Ralston, Mary McDowell, Mrs. Tessie Henderson, Mrs. Josephene Buster. She married Lawrence Christ in 1869. After his death in 1907, she married Jno. Walby in 1912. She passed away in Breckenridge, but the funeral was in the Wheeling Christian Church and burial in Breckenridge.

Mar. 14, 1936 - Death of Lucy Fidelia (Hare) Hulbert, wife of John Bradford Hulbert, who died April 4, 1928. Four chil- dren are dead, including Alta, died in 1924 and Arthur who died in 1928. Surviving are Mrs. Frona Von Osenski, Frank, Ira and Guy. Both buried in Wheeling Cemetery.
Mar. 22, 1936 - Frank Smiley and Mrs. Bird Darling of Meadville were married and will reside in Wheeling.
Apr. 13, 1936 - Elizabeth Warren died. She was born in Meadville, Apr. 6, 1862, oldest daughter of Stephen Darling. She mar- ried Thomas L. Warren March 8, 1882. She and Thomas had five children (listed in his death notice). She had one sister, Mrs. F. L. Madden, and four brothers, J.T., W.F., M. B., and Floyd, (Claudie died in infancy) Husband died May 30, 1927.

Aug. 27, 1936 - Henry Franklin Belshe dies at his home near Wheeling. Born, son of James F. and Pheobe (Nay) Belshe, Feb. 22, 1880, married Mattie Moore, Aug. 2, 1904. 1936 - Annual flower show and dinner by the Baptist Women. Because of drought, things were scarce, but the 25¢ meal, included fried chicken, baked chicken, roast beef, noodles, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, lima beans, turnips, peas, parsnips, corn pudding, macaroni and cheese, gravy, hot rolls, fruit salad, slaw, walnut salad, old fashioned cove oyster salad, pickled beets, pickled peaches, cucumber pickles, cottage cheese, apple butter and jelly, lemon cream, blackberry, pumpkin, apple and mince pies; coffee, ice cream and cake and just every kind of cake there is. Since dinners started in 1896, Mrs. J. R. Wright has worked at every dinner and brought to each one, a chicken, a cake or pie; Mrs. E. M. Tanner and Mrs. Paul Higgins each has missed but one out of forty dinners and those because of illness.

Nov. 19, 1936 - John Waydelick dies at the age of 69. He left Wheeling in 1921. He married Mattie Tharp of Eversonville, three sons born, Wendell, James and Elgin. He was a school teacher here many years and later in a bank here. Burial in Chillicothe.

Services held at Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Andrews, burial in Wheeling Cemetery.

Jan. 31, 1937 - John Richard Wright, son of William and Lucy Wright, born in Kentucky Sept. 16, 1856, passed away at his home in Wheeling. He came to Wheeling when he was 21 years of age, married Nannie Kendall, 1878. They had two sons, Floyd and William. Funeral at the Baptist Church and burial in Wheeling Cemetery.
Mar. 30, 1937 - Harry Dennis Clem departed this life. He was born Oct. 4, 1866 at Mirable, Mo. In 1870, he came with his parents to Wheeling. In 1888 he started as operator on Burlington R.R. He was transferred to Nettleton where he met Clara Johnston, whom he married Nov. 25, 1890. Children, Harry Joseph and Lorena Grace, Ser- vices held at Wheeling Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Albert J. Kondy, burial in Wheeling Cemetery.

Three sisters and 2 brothers, Delbert Norman, Hattie Castle, Leona Barnes, Lennie Norman and Mrs. Elva Shafer and one grand-daughter, Mary Virginia Lowe. Age 51 years 6 mo. and 24 days, Rev. G. T. Living children are Bessie Foster, Mary Sellars, Elizabeth Vanwye, Veda Vanwye and Joseph Elisha Doty. Hiram died of influenza - pneumonia. Burial in Wheeling Cemetery. Services held at Wheeling Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Kondy.

Burial in Wheeling Cemetery. Survivors are 2 children, Lena May now Mrs. Joseph Smiley and Mont .. R. Warren, four grandchildren, one brother, Will Warren and one sister, Ella Shoaf.

Nov. 15, 1939 - Baptist women at Wheeling hold 43rd flower show. More than 450 chicken dinners served in connection with show. Miss Sadie and Miss Ida Littrell and Mrs. John R. Wright have exhibited flowers in every show and have helped at the event each yr.
Jan. 10, 1940 - Mrs. Kate Lawler passed away at her home four miles north of Wheeling. Besides her husband, Frank, she is survived by a brother, M. A. Kinsella, and a sister, Mrs, Lawrence Lawler. She was born Jan. 26, 1863, on a farm a mile from where she died, Services and burial were held at Leopolis.

May 29, 1940 - Sudden death of Alvin Powers, due to heart attack. He was born Aug. 6, 1868, came to Wheeling when 14 yrs. of age. He married Eva Beckwith in 1914. Surviving are four brothers, Edd, Archie, Elmer, Cyrus and one sister, Mrs. Paul Higgins. Services were held at Wheeling Methodist Church. Burial in Wheeling Cemetery.
June 24, 1940 - Mrs. Golda Wampler Carr dies. She was born Aug. 30, 1902, She is survived by her husband, Frank Carr and children of the home - Mildred, Melvin, Gerald, Verlin and Eva Mae. Services were held at the Wheeling Christian Church, burial in Wheeling Cemetery.

Mar. 7, 1941 - Mrs. James McKamey dies. She is survived by one son, Everett. She was preceded in death by her husband, July 31, 1939 and her daughter, Nellie Mae McKamey, May 7, 1937. Services were held at the Wheeling Christian Church, burial in Wheeling Cemetery.
Apr. 2, 1941 - Death of Eli James. Son of J. W. and Jerusha, born in Smithfield, Ill., March 28, 1875. Moved to Wheeling Feb. 14, 1900. Married Anna May Bird June 12, 1904, who died Dec. 10, 1925. Survivor are three children, Earl, Elmer and Mrs. Clayton (Grace) Kimmis. He was barber inWheeling 27 years. Services were held at the Wheeling Christian Church where he became a member in 1900, conducted by Rev. R. V. Herriford of Hale. Burial in Wheeling Cemetery.
1941 - Despondent - sought death under a train. Roy Ogan, 36 years old, gave a sealed letter to J. C. Davis, night operator, containing letter to wife and mother, of Wheeling. He detailed his plan to commit suicide. He resided in Chillicothe.
May 25, 1941 - Joe Donalson ran into a moving car on Highway 36 west of Wheeling and was fatally injured.
June 29, 1941 - Mrs. Maria Jones born Nov. 6, 1861 to John and Eliza Goff, while on the way to church services was struck and instantly killed by a train. She married Ben Jones 1882 and had a daughter, Mrs. Clarence Waite and son, John and two grand-children. Body was found by Joyce Ewing. Funeral was held at Wheeling Methodist Church with burial in Wheeling Cemetery.
June 18, 1941 - A baby boy, weighing 8 lbs. 8 oz. was born to Mr. and Mrs. Glen Watson at Chillicothe Hospital.
June 18, 1941 - First child, a son, was born to Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Morrison. Boy named Robert Graham Morrison.
June 3, 1941 - Dr. Robinson has been in Kirksville attending a doctors convention.

June 21, 1941 - Miss Doris Dimitt of Wheeling and Elmo Guilford of Sumner were quietly married at Nevada, Mo. Mrs. Guilford is teaching Leaton School.
Aug. 1, 1941 - Baltz Braun, youngest of 9 children of John Adam and Anna Dorothy Braun was born at Eidengeses, Germany, Aug. 4, 1874. He married Miss Lummie Head June 25, 1899 at Bardolph, Ill. They came to Wheeling in 1903. 4 children, Carl, Herman, Mrs. Mary Lawhon and Lloyd who died 15 years ago. Services held at Wheeling Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Miner. Burial in Wheeling Cemetery.
Aug. 29, 1941 - Joseph Dooley dies at his home north of Wheeling, of heart trouble.
Sept.13, 1941 - Marriage of Naomi George of Wheeling to Mr. Paul Kissick.
Sept.23, 1941 - Death of Fredrick Theodore Springer. He was born Oct. 4, 1865 in New York, he came to a farm north of Wheeling in 1868. three of six brothers and sisters preceded him in death, William, Jennie and Addie Post, leaving Eldore and Mrs. Lena Fell. He was buried in Ogan Cemetery. Rev. Miner, pastor.
Nov. 20, 1941 - Wheeling canning factory received a consignment of 78,000 empty tin cans.
Dec. 7, 1941 - Lawrence Moore Gray, son of Edward E. Gray is missing in action. He was on the USS Arizona in Pearl Harbor and was a fireman working in the engine room when the Japanese attack hit. He graduated WHS in 1939.
Jan. 9, 1942 - Death of William L. Warren, son of John and Sarah Warren, born Nov. 4, 1866, married Hattie Bird, Feb. 21, 1894. Burial in Wheeling Cemetery - services held at Wheeling Baptist Church. Sons, Buel, John and Ray and one daughter, thel.
May 23, 1942 - E. D. Watson, pioneer resident of the Wheeling Community died at his home southwest of Wheeling. Born Aug. 9, 1868 near Wheeling, West Va., came with parents, David Henry and Mary Watson to this community when he was 4 years old. He married Miss Dora Adams, Dec. 24, 1903. Three children, Glen and Harold Watson and Vivi Sanson, all of Wheeling. Mrs. Watson died in Aug. 1923.
Apr. 2, 1942 - Alan Dimitt Walkup, son of Mr, and Mrs. John L. Walkup, dies at Brookfield. He was born Aug. 16, 1907 and married Miss Doris Achenbach Aug. 24, 1932. He leaves his widow, parents and two brothers, Lawrence and Lucian.

Nov. 1; 1942 - Mason C. Arnold, son of Richard G. and Jane (Wooldridge) Arnold was born on a farm northeast of Wheeling Sept. 25, 1868. His sister was Mrs. G. R. Dimitt. died in 1927 and' a brother, Richard G. (Dick) died Feb. 3, 1934. At 19 he was a telegraph operator, which he followed until retirement in 1938. He married Ida Belle Littrell, June, 1890, Children - 1 died in infancy and Forrest, oldest son died at age 14, Arthur B., twins Vera B and Vern B. Burial in Wheeling Cem.
