Nov. 21, 1942 - Rev. Edward H. Huckell dies. Child, Margaret (Huckell ) Agers, Sedalia, Mo.


Nov. 28, 1942 - Death of Wm. Scruby at the home of his son, Stanley. In 1872 he moved to a farm south of Wheeling, and was associated with his brothers, Frank and Edd in business in Wheeling and Chillicothe. He married Zue M. Kidder, April 21, 1886. They had a daughter, Mrs. Lula Henry and sons, William K. and Stanley R.


Jan. 26, 1943 - Ed Beat, passed away in Calif. He was born to Wm. and Margaret Beat and lived on a farm south of Wheeling for 69 years. He married Molly Collins at Wheeling, Aug. 3, 1899, They had one son, Donald, who died in 1935. Sisters, Mrs. Steve Perrine and Mrs. Ida Carter.


Feb. 15, 1943 - Death of Mrs. D. A. Watson at Chillicothe Hospital where she underwent major operation. Lucy Ann Lowe, daughter of Elmer and Emma Lowe born March 19, 1884 in Indiana, came to Wheeling when she was 13 years old, married Arthur Watson, March 13, 1904. One daughter, Mrs. Irene Watson Narr, brother and sisters, Martha Howe, Ruth Davis and Fred, Emmerson, Asa and Herman Lowe .


Mar. 4, 1943 - Mary Rachel Bonderer weds Kenneth Coburn at the rectory of St. Columban's Church, Thursday evening.


Mar. 27, 1943 - Miss Helm E. Owen weds Mr. Eugene W. Waite at Kirks- ville, Mo. Mrs. Waite is daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Chaney of Bussey, Iowa.


Apr. 12, 1943 - Death of Mrs. Lotta Everly, daughter of the late George and Sarah Real. She was born Nov. 5, 1873 on a farm south of Wheeling. Funeral and burial at Winfield, Kan sas.


May 9, 1943 - Body of Henry E. Bailey, 95, will arrive by train. For- mer resident of Wheeling. For yrs. was associated with his son, Bob Bailey in drug business in location now occupied by the Boone Hardware. Bob died 15 yrs. ago. Services conducted by Rev. Miner. Burial in Wheeling Cem.

June 6, 1943 - Estace Taylor ( Ett) Brown, son of Sam Brown was born in Ill. Sept. 30, 1866. He passed away at his home in Wheeling. He came to Wheeling at an early age, was married to Phene May Taylor in 1895. His wife and two sisters, preceded him in death. He left four sons, Orin, William, Virgil and Jesse. Services were held at the Wheeling Christian Church with burial in Wheeling Cemetery. Mrs. Ett Brown died May 22, 1928.


May 2, 1943 - Justin Edward Nay, son of Henry and Elanor Nay was born July 3, 1859 near Wheeling, West Va. and married Anna Dockum Oct. 27, 1885, passed away at his home north of Wheeling. They had 8 children, Fleta Bell, Orin, Clarence, Ethel, Hazel, Roy, Henry and Elanor. He came to Thecling when he was six years of age. Services held at Wheeling Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Miner. Burial in Wheeling Cemetery.


Feb. 21, 1943 - Miss Jane Cole married Ensign Lawrence (Larry) Warren. She was "Miss Warrensburg".


June 1, 1943 - Marriage of Pauline Wisehaupt and Chester Kibler at Kansas City.


July 8, 1943 - Miss Alice Lawler, member of Chillicothe High School faculty died at her home in Wheeling Township with a cerebral hemmorage. She was daughter of Mrs. Mary Lawler and the late James Lawler. She is survived by her mother, two sisters, Irene and Mrs. E. W. Timmons, and four brothers, A. E., John, Lawrence and Leonard. Services and burial were held at Leopolise


July 18, 1943 - Miss Lucille Howe married Alvin Lester Foster in Kansas City, Mo,


Aug. 17, 1943 - Death of C. T. Thornburg. Born in Davis Co. Mo. in 1871, son of Jim and Luzenia Thornburg. Moved to Wheeling at 18, In 1892 married Ida Carter, who sur- vives him with 2 children, Glen Thornburg and Mrs. Marie McMillen, 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchil- dren . Services from Wheeling Baptist Church. Burial in Wheeling Cemetery.


Aug. 13, 1943 - Mrs. Anna ( Goff) Hill, born 1867 in Ill. She married Joe Hill 1885. He preceded her in death. Burial Wheeling Cemetery, funeral Methodist Church. Children are Mrs. Anna Mae Howe, Mrs. Walter Barnette, Joseph Wm., who died at age 12. He came to Wheeling, Feb. 1893.


Aug. 27, 1943 - Death of Inez Onderdonk. She was born Sept. 6, 1865, came to Wheeling when a small child. She was a devout Baptist, was buried in Edgewood Cemetery in Chillicothe.


Sept.21, 1943 - Mrs. Stephen Perrine received word of the death of her youngest sister, Miss Mildred Roberta Beat. She is survived by Mrs. L.G. Eddy and Mrs. Ida Carter.


Sept.27, 1943 - Cecil McKiddy, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. McKiddy, born Aug. 15, 1904 and married Viola Albertson, Aug. 19, 1929. This union, one son, Clifford Ron and daughter, Betty Jo, were born.


Oct. 3, 1943 - Death of David Sensenich. Born Compassville, Penn., . son of John H. and Harriet Diller Sensenich on Aug. 20, 1868. Married Miss Bertha Harris in 1899. In 1902 moved to Wheeling and engaged in lumber business. Member Wheeling Methodist Church where services were held by Rev. G. B. Miner. Burial in Wheeling Cemetery, where he was chairman of Cemetery Association. Survivors, are his wife, one son, Forrest H. Sensenich, 2 grand- children, one sister, Miss Katherine Sensenich, 2 brothers, John and Charles Sensenich.


Oct. 9, 1943 - Wedding announced of Buela Warren and Max E. Coburn. Both grew up in Wheeling.


Nov. 1, 1943 - Isaiah Willetts Transue, son of William and Margaret Transue passes. He was born Nov. 16, 1865 in Penn. He married Jennie Phillips March 25, 1896. One son, Cecil, resides near his parents.


Dec. 9, 1943 - Death of Tad Arelius Bowen, of pneumonia, son of A. F. Bowen. He married Myrtie Harris and the following children were born to them. Delores, Jrs. Jewel Foster, Harold and Neola Mae, died at 14 years of age. His brothers were Frank and Alec Bell Phillips and Addie Campbell. He was living at Harden, Mo. when he passed away and burial was there.


Dec. 25, 1943 - Mrs. Alice Shiflett died at her home in Caldwell, Kan. She was born and reared on farm north of Wheeling. Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Gish. Husband died 20 years ago. Children, Mrs. Leora Caldwell and Mrs. Lucille Kierking.


1943 - Mrs. Alice McKiddy dies at age of 75. Death occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wynn Elliott. Chil- dren, Mrs. Elliott, Mrs. Roy Warren, Mrs. Thelma Silvey, Mrs. H. M. Ellison, Mrs. Clyde Waggner, Mrs. Ada Young, Delbert, and Cecil. Burial in Wheeling Cemetery.


1943 - Graveside service for Mrs. Frank Bassett who died in Calif. She was 85 yrs. of age. She is survived by 5 sons, Milo, Canton, Will, Horace, Leonard and Fred. Frank Jr. died in 1918, a daughter Mrs. Frank Strong.

1943 - Mrs. Ida Moran, a former resident of Wheeling died in a hospital in Kansas City. She was 79 years of age, the widow of Jesse Foran . They had three daughters, Ruby Bassett, Mrs. Garnett Anderson, Mrs. Pearl Shackelford. Burial in Wheeling Cemetery.


Feb. 2, 1944 - Eugene Montella Tanner, retired barber died in his home. He was born July 15, 1860, came to Missouri, 1880 and to Wheeling in 1898. He married Adella Ogan and had 4 sons; Ogan Montella, Clifton Bruce, Buel and Charles Abraham all of St. Louis. Services were held at Wheel- ing Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Weddell, burial was in Wheeling Cemetery.


Feb. 5. 1944 - Paul Higgins, 72, died at his home in Wheeling. He was born on a farm east of Chillicothe, March 6, 1871, the son of John and Sarah Higgins. He married Miss Emma Powers, Jan. 17, 1897. He was a rural mail carrier out of Wheeling 31 years and retired 10 years ago. Survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Love, one son, Buel, and four sisters, Mrs. Mae Benlay, Miss Grace Higgins, Mrs. Lula Lutz Milbank, Mrs. Beulay Botts and one brother, Charles Higgins and one grandson, Robert Lee Higgins. Services were held at Wheeling Baptist Church, burial. in Wheeling Cemetery.


Apr. 25, 1944 - Miss Anna Tompson and Mr. Harley Wells of Wheeling married at Catholic Church.


May 3, 1944 - Death calls Lillie Walker Harlan, daughter of Jacob and Harriet Babb Harlan. She was born in Wheeling, April 16, 1870 and is survived by one nephew, Harlan Slocum and three nicces, Mrs. C. Everton, Mrs. Fred Ludwig and mrs. Bryan Wyatt. Services were held at Wheeling Christian Church, conducted by Rev. Morgan, burial in Wheeling Cemetery.


Apr. 3, 1944 - Mrs. Josephine Gish dies, leaving one daughter, Mrs. Noel Jones, three brothers, John, Jim and Joe Gish and one sister, Mrs, Lawrence Sidebottom.


June 22, 1944 - Miss Patricia Jean Barnette marries P.F.C. Maxwell Bates in Kansas City, Kans., Saturday. She graduated Wheeling High School in 1944.


July 5, 1944 - Miss Vena Smith, daughter of the late Elder Smith died in St. Joseph at the home of her sister, Mrs. Frank Moore, She is survived by her sisters, Mrs. Mayme Paotz, Mrs. Minnie Lowery and Mrs. Dottie Miller. Miss Vena was 91 years old.


Aug. 31, 1944 - Addison Ellsworth Beckwith, born March 18, 1869, N.Y., passed away at his home in Wheeling. He was the son of Charles P. and Elizabeth E. He married Ella L. DeWitt Dec. 20, 1905. He was cashier of Farmers Merchant Bank for number of years and a merchant 25 years in General Merchandise store. Children, Mrs. A. T. Waddell. DeWitt and Orville. Services were held at Wheeling Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Miner. Burial in Wheeling Cemetery.


Aug. 10, 1944 - Mrs. Estella Swope, widow of Dr. W. A. Swope, physician of Wheeling died at the home of her son, Buel Swope in Illinois,


Aug. 2, 1944 - John Seidel, age 34, drowned in Grand River, about 12 miles west of Bedford. He was with Ralph Clark and Noble Randall. They had taken several Boy Scouts swim- ming - one boy became frightened and John brought him to shore and then swam across to the other side of the river but didn't make it back. He is survived by his mother, three brothers, William, Joseph, and Robert, five sisters, Carrie, Marie, Louise, Mrs. Hobart Sprout and Mrs. D. E. Springer. Burial in Chillicothe.


Oct. 1944 - William Virgil Littrell, son of W. J. Littrell. He married Mary Whitebread July 21, 1892. He lived his entire life in Wheeling. He farmed some, but was a well driller by trade. They had two daughters, Zula and May Hawker, and three sons, Leon, Logan and Willis, who died in 1935, also five grand-children. Funeral and burial at Wheeling.


Dec. 24, 1944 - Miss Wilma Littrell weds Lenos Meneely. Double ring ceremony performed by Rev. Morgan.


Dec. 29, 1944 - Funeral services for Tim Kinsella were held at St. Patricks Church. He was bom 78 years ago north of The eling .


1944 - Henry Johnson Barnes died at Wheeling. He was born June 26, 1863, son of Susanna Margaret and Andrew Jackson Barnes, near Linneus, Mo. He married Susan Littrell, Nov. 15, 1891. Children, Ruth Drake, Mary Campbell, Lloyd Barnes, Lucile Guisinger. Susan died March 3, 1929 at Chillicothe Hospital. On Jan. 3, 1934 he married Mrs. Clara Baker of Kansas City. Two sisters survive him, Elizabeth Boyle, Mattie Heinback and two brothers, N.C. (of Meadville) and Steven. Services were held at Wheeling Christian Church, conducted by Rev. Morgan, burial in Wheeling Cemetery.


Jan. 13, 1945 - Marriage of Helen Runyon and Pvt. Delmas Albertson. Double ring ceremony performed by Rev. Turner in Mineral Wells, Texas.


Jan. 26, 1945 - Mrs. Hobart Sprout dies after a long illness. Rocelia was born Nov. 10, 1899. She married Hobart Sprout May 23, 1924. Daughter of Joe Seidel (See Aug. 2, 1944 - John Seidel )


Feb. 10, 1945 - Miss Helen Constant became the bride of Felix Buckner at Oakland, Calif. He is son of Henry Buckner of Wheeling, a graduate of Chula High School.


Feb. 11, 1945 - Carla Alice Breeden, daughter of W. G. Breeden, became bride of Harold R. Warren, son of Buel E. Warren. Rev. A. S. Day of First Baptist Church of Chillicothe, officiated.


Feb. 18, 1945 - Frank Lawler dies at home north of Wheeling. He was born Nov. 8, 1866, had one sister, Mrs. Mary Fitzpatrick to survive him. Burial at Leopolis. Lived all his life in community.


Mar. 24, 1945 - Mrs. Lucy Baldwin was born July 29, 1855 at Elizaville, Ky., and came to Wheeling in a few months. She was the daughter of Joseph A. and Sarah Thomas. She married James A. Baldwin Dec. 25, 1882, leaving one son, J. T. Baldwin, 3 grandsons, Charley, James, Elmer and W. Roy now of Chillicothe, member of Christian Church.


Mar. 24, 1945 - Funeral services for Mrs. Buel Coleman and infant daughter. Mrs. Coleman was born April 16, 1917 and married April 20, 1933, Buel Coleman at Lincoln, Nebr. who survives with 6 yr. old daughter, Hazel. Burial in Wheeling Cemetery.


Spring 1945 - Michael A. Kinsella, well known Wheeling man died Saturday night. Burial at Leopolis.


Apr. 16, 1945 - Miss Jeanette Buckner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Buckner dies north of Wheeling.


Sept.26, 1945 - Wedding of Grace Eileen Warren to Capt. Leon C, Luther took place in Blytheville, Ark., at Methodist Church. Bride is graduate of Central Mo. State College, Warrens- burg and a member of Sigma, Sigma, Sigma National Sorority. Capt. Luther is a graduate of Blantons Business College, Ashville, N.C.


Sept. 12, 1945 - Alice Davis weds Harold W. Albertson at M. E. Church in Kansas City. Rev. Frank officiated.


Dec. 31, 1945 - Miss Cleo Mace and Hubert C. Brenneman married at Baptist Church by Rev. Lloyd Morgan.


Jan. 2, 1946 - Death of Jennie Mae (Head) Kimmis. She was daughter of Elizabeth and R. S. Head, born in Bardolph, Ill., Feb. 1881. Married D. W. Kimmis in 1902. Services from Wheeling Baptist Church. Burial in Wheeling Cemetery. Survivors are her husband, four daughters, Mrs. Winnie Meyers, Edra Narr, Dora Jean Schmitt and Mrs. Elizabeth Siegrist, 4 sons, Blane, Richard, Clayton and Frank, 3 sisters, Mrs. Frank Arthaud, Mrs. M. Jan. 20, 1946 - Death of James Spencer Littrell, son of Joseph J. and Mary Alexander Littrell, born in Linn County, Mo. Dec. 23, 1860. Married Miss Dora Patton. Oct. 9, 1889. In 1901 moved to edge of Wheeling, had one child, Cora, now Mrs. Ed Bright, who survives along with his wife and 3 brothers, J. E., Elmer and W. B. Littrell, and one sister, Mrs. Bertha Tompkins. Burial in Wheeling Cemetery.


Jan. 22, 1946 - Mrs. Mae Hawker and Mr. William Wisehaupt were married at Meadville. Rev. Chenoweth performed ceremony.


Feb. 14, 1946 - Valentine Wedding. Vera (Waite) Whitaker and Leonard Delbert Deweese. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilber Waite.


Mar. 1, 1946 - Mrs. Sarah Flizabeth Botts, 92, died at Brookfield Hospital. She was life long resident of Wheeling and Meadville Community. She is survived by one son, Albert Botts and a daughter, Mrs. Henry Smiley. Her husband George W. was born in 1851, died in 1925. Services were held at Wheeling Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Chenoweth, burial in Meadville Cemetery.


Mar. 2, 1946 - A son, Larry Ray, born to Mr. and Mrs. Harold Warren.


Apr. 15, 1946 - Mrs. Rose Ozilla (Walby) Roe, 71. She was daughter of John B. and Kathryn McCreary Walby. She married Ross Hugh Roe at Wheeling in 1891. He died in 1933. Chil- dren, Lettie Roe - died in 1891 and Katie May Canfield.


May 17, 1946 - Death of Emma Higgins, Born near Roseville, Ill. Mar. 28, 1874, daughter of Aaron and Eliza Powers. Moved to Wheeling at 14 yrs. of age. Married Paul Higgins on Jan. 17, 1897. United with Wheeling Baptist Church where services were held by Rev. Robt. Chenoweth. Burial in Wheeling Cemetery. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Jack (Myrtle Ellen) Love and Buel Lee Higgins, 4 bro- thers, Ed, Archie, Elmer and Cyrus Powers and one grandson, Robert Lee Higgins.


June 6, 1946 - Miss Velta Maxine Wagner marries George Waverly Heaton. They will live east of Wheeling.


June 28, 1946 - Death of Sarah Emma Littrell (Sadie) born July 3, 1869, daughter of William J. and Emma Gish Littrell, moved to Wheeling, 1900. Survived by 2 sisters, Miss Ida Littrell and Mrs. Etta Clark and one brother F. S. Littrell. United Wheeling Baptist Church Feb. 18, 1888, where services were held by Rev. Carmah Underwood. Burial in Wheeling cemetery.


Aug. 3, 1946 - Miss Oma Achenbach became the bride of Mr. Herb B. Herrick in Jacksonville, Ill. Mrs. Herrick is a gradu- ate of State Teachers College at Kirksville and is a teacher in the public school system in Springfield, Ill.


Oct. 6, 1946 - Mrs. Elva Patrick died at her home on South Main Street, Brookfield, Miss Ret was born in Ohio, Feb. 28, 1871 and married James M. Thomas Jan. 10, 1888, who died Oct. 31, 1897. On Jan. 7, 1900 she married J. B. Patrick. Family came to Brookfield in 1917 (was a merchant in Wheeling, Mo).


Oct. 9, 1946 - James W. Buckner dies of heart attack in California. Survived by wife, 6 children and a brother, Henry.


Dec. 8, 1946 - Miss Irene Hedrick weds James R. Goss, Jr.


1947 - Miss Maxine Braun is bride of Mr. Stanley Warren.

Jan. 13, 1947 - Death of Mrs. Bertha Spooner. Born July 13, 1878, a daughter of Michael and Barbera Inderweisen. Married Harry Spooner Sept. 27, 1905. Survivors are husband and one daughter, Mrs. Walter ( Eloise) Cooper, 3 grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Paul Damm and a brother, Frank Inderweisen. Funeral from Norman Funeral Home, Burial in Wheeling Cemetery.


Jan. 13, 1947 - Death of Dora W. Kimmis aboard a bus in Kansas City. Survivors are Bess Siegrist, Frank Kimmis, Edra Narr, Richard Kimmis, Clayton, Mrs. Winnie Meyers, Blane Kimmis and Dora Jean Kimmis.


Jan. 30, 1947 - Death of Mrs. Nannie Wright at Wheeling. Born Nannie Kendall, daughter of Eli and Rebecca Kendall, Mar. 31, 1860 in Mead County, Ky. Came to Wheeling 1870 and married John R. Wright Dec. 5, 1878, who died Jan. 31, 1937. Leaves 2 sons, Floyd and William, 2 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Jan. 15, 1947 - Miss Vanda Wright passed away in Tulsa, Okla. She was born Jan. 17, 1919 in Wheeling, the daughter of W. K. and Sylvia Wright, was stricken with infantile paralysis as a child. Survivor are her parents, brother, Franklin grandmother, Mrs. Nannie Wright of Wheeling and several aunts and uncles. Services were held at Wheeling M.E. Church, conducted by Rev. Olive Fay. Burial in Wheeling Cemetery.


Feb. 9, 1947 - Death of Henry (Hank) Whitebread, son of Josiah and Mary Adeline Fenstermaker Whitebread, born in Lee County, Ill., Nov. 25, 1861. Moved to Wheeling 1871. He was master mason of Lodge #434 AF & A. M and when hall was erected he made all the woodwork in the hall, including alter and pedestals by hand. Services from Methodist Church by Rev.Saucerman. Burial in Wheeling Cemetery .


Mar. 16, 1947 - John David (Hebe) Wilson, 67, died at his home in Wheeling. Born at Chula, Dec. 1879, but lived most of life near Wheeling.


Mar. 30, 1947 - John E. Castle, 73, died in Detroit, Mich. Survi vors are his wife, Hattie, two sons, John Norman and Robert Castle, two brothers, Dan and Reuben, ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.


May 3, 1947 - Death came to Susie May Glore, 71 at a nursing home in Kirksville where she had been one week. She was bom in Linn Co. May 9, 1875, daughter of James and Jane Anderson Phillips - her entire life was lived in Wheeling Community. She married Erasmus Omar Glore June 23, 1895 at Wheeling. She is survived by one son, Foy, one sister, Miss Emma M. Gillispie, two sister-in-laws, Carrie and Lota Glore; one grandson, Vernon Glore and grand daughter, Mrs. Albert I. Palmer. Services were held at Wheeling Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Mrs. Fay, burial in Wheeling Cemetery.

Aug. 5, 1947 - Death of Frank L. Arthaud, 64, died at his home 4 miles north of Wheeling. Born Frank Lawrence Arthaud, son of John D. and Annazella O'Dell Arthaud, Aug. 19, 1884 at New Market, Ia. Moved to Wheeling 1903. Aug. 12, 1906 married Miss Clo Edith Head at Wheeling. Member of Wheeling Baptist Church, where services were held by Rev. Harold Marr. Burial in Wheeling Cemetery. Surviv- ors are wife and 2 sons, Lawrence Frank and Clarence Elbert Arthaud, 4 grandchildren, 2 brothers, Lester and Elmer Arthaud and sister, Mrs. Effie Hollis.


Aug. 15, 1947 - Death of Mrs. Albert D. Botts, born neor Wheeling, Sept. 25, 1884, daughter of George R. and Ella May (Arnold ) Dimitt named Emma Ray. Married Albert D. Botts on Aug. 14, 1927. Member of Wheeling Christian Church, where services were held by Rev. Lloyd Morgan. Burial in Wheeling Cemetery. Survivors are husband and step- daughter, Mrs. Harold VanHorn, one brother, Leslie A. Dimitt, 3 sisters, Mrs. J. L. (Jessie) Walkup, Mrs. W. H. Loucks (Bertie) and Mrs. Ethel D. Anderson.


Sept. 5, 1947 - Miss Betty June Hayden of Kansas City becomes the bride of Mr. Robert E. Littroll. The wedding took place at the home of Miss Hayden's grandmother, Mrs. C. S. Crandall.


Oct. 1, 1947 - Mrs. Nettie (Spooner) Timmons, died at her home north of Wheeling, Wednesday. She was born Nov. 26, 1871 at Clarence, No., daughter of Martin Nathaniel and Samatha Brigman Spooner. She married Stephen A. Timmons Dec. 30, 1891. Six children were born, 4 survive, Leland, Juanita, Gladys and Alta. Services were held at Wheeling Methodist Church, burial in Wheeling Cemetery.


Oct. 2, 1947 - Mrs. Ida Phelma Hendrix, 50 yrs. old dies. She was born June 10, 1897 and married Raymond A. Hendrix June 28, 1919. She lived at Wheeling 20 yrs. She leaves 2. sons, Donald and Raymond Jr. Services were held at Wheeling Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Lloyd Morgan, burial in Wheeling Cemetery.

Oct. 25, 1947 - Mr. Bennie Littrell and Miss Wilma Cooper were married at the home of the groom. Rev. Morgan officiated,


Nov. 9, 1947 - Mary Alice Warren marries Mr. Aubrey D. Bixler at Presbyterian Church, Warrensburg, Missouri.


Dec. 25, 1947 - Wm. Ray Anderson and Lola Mae Freeman were married.


Jan. 14, 1948 - Miss Frances Smiley weds Mr. Edward Winston Buckner at Baptist Church. Rev. Underwood officiated.


Jan. 27, 1948 - Death of Mrs. Dora Littrell. Born in Lancaster Co., Penn., on April 17, 1865 to Joseph E. and Catharine Emery Patton. 1883 moved to Wheeling and taught school. Married James S. Littrell on October, 1889. Member of Wheeling Baptist Church where services were held by Rev. Robert Chenoweth and Rev. Lloyd Morgan. Burial in Wheeling Cemetery. One daughter, Mrs. E. B. (Cora) Bright and 3 sisters, Misses Susie, Ella and Katharine Patton survive.


Mar. 7, 1948 - Mrs. Clara Clem, widow of Harry Clem died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Rose in Kansas City, Sunday night at 11:30. Funeral services for Mrs. Clem from Wheeling Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Lloyd Morgan. Burial in Wheeling Cemetery. Husband H. D. Clem died in March, 1937. Survived by one son, Harry J. Clem and one daughter, Mrs. Grace Rose and one sister, Maude Moon .


Feb. 20, 1948 - Mrs. Lena Fell, 86 yrs. old, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Althea W. Siegrist. She was bom in N. Y. Sept. 26, 1861, came to Fell farm on county line in 1868. She married Allen B. Fell, Dec. 23, 1880. He died Dec. 1, 1937, one daughter Allie Siegrist died June 27, 1924.


Feb. 22, 1948 - Merton Anthony (Bruz) Parks was born Jan. 10, 1871, twin of Mrs. Minnie Howe, died leaving one son, Glenn.


Mar. 18, 1948 - A daughter, Linda Sue, born to Mr. and Mrs. Harold Warren.


Apr. 1, 1948 - Joe Walkup died at his home in Morewood, Okla. His wife was former Roxie Frederick, who was killed in an auto accident several years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Walkup were residents of Wheeling until they moved to Morewood, many yrs. ago. May 7, 1948 - Joseph William James was born July 1, 1889, son of Joseph W. and Jerusha Pumphrey James. They moved to Wheeling when he was 12 yrs. of age. He was a member of Wheeling Christian Church.
