Siegrist on March 5, 1919, Children, Charles H., Fugene W., Ivan L., and Mrs. Clifford Lyons. Brothers, Clarence E. , two sisters, Mrs. Ira Hulbert and Mrs. Beulah Hedrick. (Littrell) Tompkins. She married Ralph M. Pfander Nov. 26, 1926 in Chillicothe. She is survived by her husband and a sister, Mrs. Ralph Edwards.

June 29, 1960 - Buel E. Warren of Carrollton died at St. Joseph Hospital in Kansas City. He was born Oct. 5, 1897 near Wheeling, son of William L. and Hattie (Bird) Warren. On March 1, 1919 he married Miss Lulu Narr, who died in 1949. Their children are, Ralph L., Harold R., Mrs. Buela Coburn, Stanley W., Donald P., Mrs. Dorothy Smiley and Lloyd W. On Feb. 14, 1951 he married Anna Mae Williams. Burial in Wheeling Cemetery.


Aug. 27, 1960 - Mrs. Martha Louetta Harper died Sat. Evening. She was born Oct. 7, 1869 at Camppoint, Ill., daughter of Caleb and Deborah Farlow Hoyt. She came to. Avalon with her parents when a small child. She married Jacob F.


Harper, Oct. 16, 1887. In 1903 they moved to farm at Wheeling. Mr. Harper died in Jan. 1927. Survived by son, Clyde, two daughters, Mrs. Nellie Dimitt and Mrs. Mable Ralston. Services at Wheeling Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Pollock, burial in Wheeling Cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mabel Goff, three daughters, Mrs. Mary Sullins, Miss Nellie and Miss Cheryl, a son, Wilbur E., his father, Charles; 3 sisters, Mrs. Verma Reich, Mrs. Cotis Surber and Mrs. Coral Jordan, 3 brothers, Olin, Rudolph and Maurice.

She spent her lifetime in Wheeling and Meadville Communities She leaves daughters, Laveta Holloway, Vanesse Parker, Nina Jean Conrad and Spencer Morrison, two brothers, Dave and Seth Sidebottom and sister, Mrs. Jesse Evans. 1961 - Milo F. Bassett dies at Hospital in Kansas City. Former resident of Wheeling. 50 yr. member of Wheeling Masonic Lodge. Born May 14, 1888 in Mich., Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Grayce Bassett; son, Gerald B., daughter, Mrs. Kanan, two brothers, Fred and Leonard. 1961 - C. L. (Louie) Dalh, suffered a fractured rib and punc- tured long, died at Chillicothe Hospital. Born March 12, 1880 at Chillicothe, son of Carl L. and Hannah (Rosinquist ) Dalh. Entered Postal service 1934, post- master to 1940, carried until he retired in 1949. In 1907, he married Miss Inez Vanhoozer, who died in 1927. On May 20, 1928 he married Mildred J. (Nay) Warner, who survives. Leaves two daughters, Mrs. M. F. (Carolyn Daniels, Mrs. William F. (Phyllis) Keenen and a step- son, Lt. Comdr. Robert E. Warner.

June 5, 1961 - Leslie Arnold Dimitt, lifelong resident of Wheeling Community, died unexpectedly at his home. Born Aug. 28, 1892, son of Geo. R., and Ella Mae (Arnold ) Dimitt, married Miss Nellie E. Harper at Wheeling Dec. 23, 1917 Survivors are his widow, daughter, Mrs. Elmo ( Doris) Guilford, a son, Robert L., three sisters, Mrs. John Walkup, Mrs. William Loucks and Mrs. Ethel Anderson. Services held at Wheeling Christian Church, burial in Wheeling Cemetery.


June 11, 1961 - Mrs. Mary Ellen Chapman, 99 dies. Daughter of John and Miranda (Riley) Keller, was born Feb. 15, 1862 near Mt. Vernon, O. On Nov. 7, 1889, married Mr. Chapman. Children are Mrs. Abi Palmer, Earl Chapman, Mrs. Lidis Holser, Dewey, Lewis and stepson, Frank Chapman, 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren and 2 great- great grandchildren. Joined Eversonville Baptist Church Oct. 23, 1933. Husband died Nov. 1, 1926.

July 22, 1961 - Mont R. Warren, a lifelong resident of Wheeling, a retired farmer, died at his home 4 miles north of Wheeling. Schooled in community. Bom Sept. 21, 1893, son of John Dillin and Kate (Ertel) Warren. Married Miss Elnora DeWitt Jan. 6, 1918. He is survived by son, Lawrence, daughters, Mrs. Leon (Grace) Luther, and Mrs. Aubrey (Mary ) Bixler, a sister, May Smiley. Ser- vices held at Wheeling Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Morgan and Rev. Hunt. Burial in Wheeling Cemetery .

1961 - Mrs. Mary E. Love, widow of Christian Love, was a resi- dent of Wheeling 53 yrs. Born July 1, 1871, daughter of John and Anna Kerby of Ethel, Mo. Married Dec. 28, 1897 at Ethel Mo., and came to Wheeling in 1908. Mr. Love died Nov. 15, 1958. Sons are Alfred and Jack, both of Wheeling and a daughter, Beaulah (Love) Smiley, who died in an auto accident. She suffered a fractured hip.


Oct. 8, 1961 - Mrs. Ethel (Dimitt) Anderson, former resident of Wheeling dies at Des Moines. Head of Home Ec. Dept. Simpson College. Bmthers and sisters, Jessie Walkup, Emma Botts, Leslie and Bertie Loucks. Services held at Wheeling Christian Church, conducted by Rev. Morgan burial in Wheeling Cemetery.


Oct. 9, 1961 - Mrs. Mary Littrell, 87, lifelong resident of Wheeling, was born Feb. 23, 1877 at Wheeling, daughter of Josiah Whitebread and Martha ( Fenstermacher) Whitebread. Married July 21, 1892 to Vm. Virgil Littrell at Chilli- cothe . Mr. Littrell died Oct. 25, 1944. Survivors, Miss Zula, Mrs. Viola Mae Wisehaupt and sons, Leon Ellwood. Preceded in death by Willis and Logan. Ser- vices held at Wheeling Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Walter Cox, burial in Wheeling Cemetery.


1962 - Edwin John Gould was retired farmer of Wheeling Commun- ity. Died at Chillicothe Hospital. Was born Oct. 4,. 1869 in Mich. son of James and Mary Jane (Glasgow) Gould. He married Miss Etta Gibson Nov. 4, 1905 in Ill. They joined his father at a farm le miles south of Wheeling in 1907. She died Dec. 1, 1955. Services held at Wheeling Christian Church, conducted by Rev. Jeffords, burial in Wheeling Cemetery.

Jan. 25, 1962 - John Lowry Walkup died at Chillicothe Hospital. Farmed East of Wheeling. Born March 9, 1882 at St. Joseph, son of Andrew and Nancy (Lowry) Walkup. On June 27, 1906 he married Miss Jessie Dimitt at home of bride. Surviving are his widow, Dr. J. Lawrence Walkup, Lucian L. Walkup. Son Alan D. preceded him in death. His sisters, Velma Stevenson, Mrs. Edna Ward and brother, George Walkup. He taught men's Bible class more than 41 years. Services at Wheeling Baptist Church, burial in Wheeling Cemetery.

July 1962 - Clarence E. Waite, a longtime resident and farmer of Wheeling community, was found dead by his son, Wilbur. He was born Oct. 5, 1883, son of Warren C. and Edith Jones Waite. He married Mrs. Alice Waite April 1903 and she died 1955. Survived by one son, Wilbur and sisters, Alma Hulbert and Mrs. Beulah Hedrick. Services at Wheeling Methodist Church, burial in Wheeling Cemetery.

He lived in and around Wheeling, operated a garage until moving in 1952 to K.C. On Oct. 15, 1933, he married Alpha Frances McKiddy at Chillicothe. Survivors include 2 daughters, Mrs. Alice Vandervoort, Mrs. Susan Schuler and a son, Willis, two brothers, Clarence and Clinton, a sister, Mrs. Hazel Fulcher. 1963 - Mrs. Estella Belle (Buckley) DeWitt, widow of Clarence M. DeWitt died at Chillicothe Hospital. She was born on Nov. 14, 1878, daughter of James A. and Mary Katherine (Finch) Buckley. She resided in Rushville, Ill., until 1899, when she and her husband came to Meadville in covered wagon, in 1901 came to Wheeling. She married Clarence M. DeWitt, Jan. 11, 1899. He died June 11, 1958. Survivors include Mrs. Elnora M. Warren, Mrs. Ruth D. VanHorne and son, R. L., and a sister, Mrs. Katherine Hodges. Services held at Wheeling Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Hunt, burial in Wheeling Cemetery.

1963 - Mrs. Burla June (Snow) Baxter died at Hospital in K.C. She was born June 7, 1889, daughter of John S. and Barbara Janett ( Bolton ) Snow. She married Geo. Baxter at Kidder, Nov. 22, 1911. Survivors include, Mr. Baxter, son, Eugene, daughters, Mrs. Cuma Mumpower, Mrs. Merle Miller, Mrs, Doris Hendrix, Mrs. Barbara Owen, Mrs. Lucille Shrimton. One son, Russel was killed in truck accident Sept. 25, 1935. Services at Baptist Church in Chillicothe, conducted by Rev. Morgan, burial in Wheeling Cemetery.


1963 - Mrs. Mary Alice Fitzpatrick died Tuesday morning, was 92. She was born Nov. 9, 1870 in Ohio. Moved here in 1879, 5 miles north of Wheeling. She married John Fitzpatrick Jan. 25, 1896. They had 3 sons. All died young. Survivors include a foster son, Joe Donovan, several nieces and nephews, including Lawrence and Leonard Lawler, Mr. and Mrs. Frankie Lawler and Mrs. Ernest Timmons. Services held at St. Columban 's Catholic Church, burial in Catholic cemetery.


Jan. 1964 - Death of Mrs. D. J. Krabiel. Mr. and Mrs. Krabiel and two daughters, Thelma and Muriel moved from Orient, Iowa to a farm Northeast of Wheeling in 1932.

Married Dec. 24, 1900, Eugene Chapman who died March 16, 1960, a daughter died in 1932. Surviving are 3 daughters, Mrs. Orville Hatch, Mrs. Oscar Collins, Mrs. Mike Flork, two sons, Henry and John.

Married Miss Velma Ann Walkup Oct. 14, 1903. Entire life spent in Linn Co. and married life on farm where he died. Children are Floyd, Leora, Lucille, Leona, Fred E., and Raymond.


May 1, 1964 - Clyde Harper died at Chillicothe Hospital. Born Aug. 23, 1888 near Avalon, son of Jacob Frederick and. Martha (Hoyt) Harper. He came with his family to Wheeling, where he finished school. Married Miss Mary Hart Feb. 2, 1915. They farmed near Wheeling and East of Chilli- cothe . Survivors are his widow and one sister, Mrs. Nellie Dimitt of Wheeling. Services at Chillicothe Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Griffith, burial in Wheeling Cemetery .

June 2, 1964 - Mary Surelda Grimes born June 15, 1882, died at the home of her son in Chillicothe. Services were held from the Wheeling Baptist Church with Rev. Harry Clifton officiating. Burial was in the Alpha Cemetery.


July 7, 1964 - Miss Zita Annette Holcer passed at Wheeling Nursing Home. Born Dec. 15, 1896, daughter of Gregory and Mary Ann Kern Holcer. Survived by Miss Josephine Holcer and Ben Holcer. Services held at Wright Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Dick, burial in Parson Creek Cemetery.


July 19, 1964 - George Lee Buckner retired farmer, died at Chillicothe Hospital. He was born Dec. 7, 1882 in Linn Co., son of John and Rhoda (King) Buckner. He married Miss Effie Susan Graimes Nov. 27, 1913. Surviving arehis widow, two sons, Cecil and Charles, three daughters, Mrs. Lowell Gibson, Mrs. Harold Palmer and Mrs. Raymond Browning. Services at Wheeling Christian Church, conduted by Rev. Dick, burial in Wheeling Cemetery.


Sept. 16, 1964- Minnic Billingsley, born April 10, 1887, died at a nursing home in Chillicothe. Services were held from the Wheeling Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Holland of Unionville, officiating. Burial was in the family lot in Wheeling Cemetery.


Jan. 29, 1965 - A son, Douglas Scott, born to Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Lowe.

Jan. 7, 1965 - Mrs. Hazel Erma (Nay) Craver, a retired business woman, died at Chillicothe Hospital this morning. Born Sept. 17, 1894, daughter of Justin E. and Anna ( Dockum) Nay. Received education at Wheeling. Married William Luther Craver April 3, 1917. He died March 22, 1959. Services


at Wheeling Methodist Church, burial in Wheeling Cemetery. Survived by sister, Mrs. Ralph ( Eleanor ) Littrell.


Mar. 10, 1965 - Henry Narr, born in 1872 passed away at his home in south Wheeling. Survivors are 4 children, Bert, Paul and Leland Narr and Mrs. Esther Utley, several grand- children and great grandchildren. Services were from the Wheeling Methodist Church and burial in the Wheeling Cemetery .


Mar. 11, 1965 - Miss Josephine Holcer, born Jan. 15, 1875, passed away at the Rauer nursing home in Wheeling. Her survivors are a brother, Ben Holcer, and several nieces and nephews. Services were from the Wright Funeral Home in Meadville and burial was in the Parson Creek Cemetery.


Apr. 6, 1965 - Twin daughters, Sheila Raye and Shelly Gaye, stillborn to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jean Lowe.


May 29, 1965 - Mrs. Onic ( Elliston) Norman, a lifetime resident of Linn and Livingston Co., died Sat. She was born April 8, 1887 in Linn Co. Daughter of Charles and Mattie ( Foster) Elliston. Married Erwin Manley Norman Dec. 23, 1906. He died Sept. 1937. Survivors are daughters, Mrs. Ella M. Lowe, Mrs. Oma Mae Albertson and 2 sons, Erwin Howard and Eldon. Services held at Wheeling Methodist Church, with burial in Wheeling Cemetery.


July 23, 1965 - Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Hulbert died Friday. She was born in Chillicothe Nov. 15, 1885, daughter of Harvey and Dora (Neal) Strickel. She married Mr. Guy Hulbert March 6, 1912. She leaves her husband and one brother, Charles F. Strickel. Services held at Wheeling Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Cox, with burial in Wheeling Cemetery .


July 23, 1965 - Mrs. Bertha (Harris) Sensenich, born Dec. 15, 1875, died unexpectedly at the Chillicothe Hospital. She was the widow of David Sensenich. Survivors areone son, Forrest, 2 grandchildren, Terry and Mrs. Jacqueline Evans, sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Beaird, Mrs. Ethel Tompkins. Services held at Wheeling Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Pollock, burial in Wheeling Cemetery.

Oct. 25, 1965 - Alma ( Waite) Hulburt, born Feb. 8, 1886, passed away at a Chillicothe Nursing Home. Survivors are a sister, Buelah F. Hedrick, of Wheeling and several nieces and nephews. Services were from the Wheeling Baptist Church, where she had been a member over 60 years. Rev. Ronald Moldrum officiated. Burial in Wheeling Cemetery.


Nov. 3, 1965 - Mrs. Lalah Mae (Braird) Braun died unexpectedly at Hospital in St. Joseph. Born Feb. 6, 1903, at Wheeling. daughter of James E. Beaird and Hattie (Jones) Beaird. Spont her entire lifetime in Wheeling Community. Married Herman Braun Oct. 7, 1922 in Chillicothe. Sur- vived by husband, one daughter, Lois Maxine Warren and a son, Ronald R. Braun, two sisters, Mrs. Ella Cranmer and Mrs. Mary (Mayme ) Lee Arthaud. Services held at Wheeling Christian Church, with burial at Wheeling Cemetery.


Dec. 1965 - Mrs. Geo. Pitts, daughter of William Benton Shiflet and Mary Catherine ( Tharp) Shiflet was born Jan. 30, 1889 in Wheeling. She resided in Wheeling until her marriage. She is survived by Mr. Herman W. Shiflet, a son, George h., and daughter, Mrs. Monte Greeness. Mr. Greeness died in 1964.


Dec. 20, 1965 - A son, Mark Wayne, born to Mr: . and Mrs. Donald Smiley.


Jan. 7, 1966 - Clifton R. Head died at Chillicothe Hospital. Son of Renie S. and Elizabeth ( Foley) Head, was born Nov. 30, 1882. He came from Illinois to Wheeling. Married Miss Jenny May Clark on Aug. 28, 1904. He leaves six daughters, Opal James, Minnie Narr, Margaret Dye, Cora Arnold, Ruth Gastineau, Beulah Hillsman and a son Ralp: three sisters, Mrs. Lummie Braun, Mrs. Alta Parks and Mrs. Clo Arthaud. Preceded in death by a son, Harold Clifton, a brother and a sister. Services held at Wheeling Baptist Church, with burial in Wheeling Cemetery.


Jan. 11, 1966 - Leonard Harlan Slocum found dead. Born April 29, 1888. Married Sarah Eugenia Hart in Jan. 15, 1911, who died Dec. 20, 1936. Nieces surviving are Mrs. Byron Wyatt, Nova Ludwig, and Mrs. C. A. Evertson (all children of a sister, Mrs. Maggie Botts) .Services held at Wheeling Baptist Church, with burial in Wheeling Cemetery.


Feb. 11, 1966 - Anna Viola Anderson, born Feb. 12, 1889 passed away aft a long illness. Services held at the Calvary Baptist Church, Chillicothe, with her pastor, Rev. Harry Cliftc. officiating. Interment in Wheeling Cemetery.


Mar. 17, 1966 - Charley F. Lowe, passed away after a brief illness. Burial in Wheeling Cemetery.

Mar. 9, 1966 - Elmer Littrell, born Sept. 6, 1885 passed away at his home in Wheeling. Survivors are his wife, Louella of the home, a son, Robert, 2 daughters, Ruth and Eloise and several grandchildren. He was the last of his immediate family. Services were from the Wheeling Christian Church with the Rev. Lloyd Morgan officiating Burial in Wheeling Cemetery.


Mar. 22, 1966 - Etta Iva Clark, born July 23, 1885, died at the Chillicothe Hospital, having suffered a stroke. Besides her 4 children and several grandchildren, she is sur- vived by a brother, F. S. Littrell and other relatives. Services were held at the Wheeling Baptist Church with Rev. Ronald Meldrum officiating. Burial in the family plot in Wheeling Cemetery.


Apr. 10, 1966 - Ethel Ann Tompkins, born January 5, 1890 passed away Easter Sunday, at the Chillicothe hospital. Survived by a son, Stanley and a daughter, Mildred Kaye, 5 grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Gertie Beaird and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services were from the Wheeling Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronald Meldrum officiating. Burial was beside her husband, Frank in the Wheeling Cemetery.


May 14, 1966 - Claude Edmond Albertson, born Dec. 13, 1880, passed away at the home of his daughter, Viola Shannon in Wheeling, after several months illness. Services held at the Wheeling Christian Church, with the Rev. Lloyd Morgan, Bolivar, officiating. Burial was beside his wife, Frances, in the Wheeling Cemetery.


June 29, 1966 - Daisy (Figg) Boyd passed away after a long illness. Burial in Wheeling Cemetery.


July 14, 1966 - Jennie (Iberg) Holder, born Oct. 4, 1892 died unex- pectedly at the Chillicothe Hospital following a broken hip. Survived by her husband, Ben, a son, Charles of Fairbanks, Alaska, a daughter, Mary K. Albertson, 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Kathryn Johnson. Memorial services were from the Wheeling Baptist Church with Rev. Hammond officiating. Burial was the family lot in Parson Creek Cemetery.


July 24, 1966- Charles Harvey, born June 22, 1875, died at the Fitzpatr Nursing Home in Chillicothe. Survivors include a son, Stanley, a daughter, Gladys Smiley, 14 grandchildren and 28 great grand children. His wife, Lola and a daughter, Oweda Clawson, preceded him. Services were from the Meadville Church of Christ with Bro. William J. Hensley officiating. Burial was in Meadville Cemetery.

Aug. 3, 1966 - Tony Lynn Surber, 8 yr. old son of Charles and Patsy ( Rader) Surber passed away at the Menorah Medical Cen - ter in Kansas City. He was born July 7, 1958 and had been seriously ill for 2 years. Besides his parents, he is survived by a brother, Ricky and 2 sisters, Brenda and Teresa of the home and his paternal grand- parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Surber of Chillicothe and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Rader, of Wheeling . Services were held at the Chillicothe Methodist Church with Rev. Earl Griffith officiating. Interment was in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens.


Aug. 13, 1966 - Miss Janice Irene Head of Wheeling and Mr. Terry James of Houston, Mo. were married at the Baptist Church in Wheeling.


Aug. 26, 1966 - Miss Dovie Louise Seifert of Wheeling and Mr. James Robert Lindberg, were married at the Baptist Church in Wheeling.
