Allowance for Leakage and Breakage.


Sect. 59. Two per cent. allowed on the gauge on all merchandize paying duty by the gallon, contained in cafks.


Ten per cent. on all beer, ale and porter in bottles, and five per cent. on all other liquors in bottles, to be deducted from the invoice quantity, in lieu of breakage ; or it fhall be lawful to compute the duties on the actual quantity by tale, at the option of the importer at the time of entry.


Terms of Credit.


Sect. 62. When the duties on ad valorem articles are lefs than 50 dollars it muft be paid immediately : if fpecific, a depofit mult be made to fecure the fame, which, when afcertained, will be immediately fettled.


When the duties on goods imported, where the fum payable by one perfon or ce-partner fhip fhall amount to more than go dollars, the fol- lowing credit is allowed by law, except where any bond on which the perfon or co-partnership entering fuch goods. wares or merchandise are either principal or fecurity, and which being due, remains und fcharged.


On all articles, the produce of the Weft-Indies, falt excepted, the one half in 3, and the other half in 6 months.


On falt 9 months.


On Madeira, and all other wines, 12 Months.


On all goods. &c. from Europe, wine. falt and teas excepted, the one-third in 8, one third in to, and one-third in 12 months.


On all goods, &c. wires, falt and teas excepted, from any other place than Europe and the Well-Indies, one half in 6 months, one-fourth in 9 months, and one-fourth in 12 months.


On teas, "from China or Europe, may be depofited at the option of the importer or importers, to be determined at the time of making en- try therefor, cither to fecure the duties thereon, on the fame terms and flipulations as on other goods, wares and merchandize imported, or to give his or her, or their bond, to the collector of the diftrict, where any fuch teas thall be landed, in double the amount of the duties there- upon, with condition for the payment of the faid duties in two years, from the date of fuch bond; which bond fhall be accepted by fuch collec- tor, without firety, upon the terms following, viz. The teas, for the duties whereof fuch bond fhall be accepted, fhall be depofited at the ex- penfe and rifk of the faid importer or importers, in one or more ftore- houfe or ftore-houfes, as the cafe may require to be agreed upon, &c." The faid teas to be delivered upon bond being given with one or more fure- ty or fureties, to the fatistaction of the collector "if the fame fhall not
