The intereft for difcounts in the Banks of this city is fixed at fix per cent. per annum upon notes or bills not having more than fixty days to run. Three days of grace are allowed, and the difcount taken for the fame.
Difcounts are done on Monday's, Tueldays, and Thurfdays in every week ; and every bill or note offered for difcount mull be delivered on the day preceding the day of difcount, inclofed under a fealed cover, directed to the Cafhier, advifing the name of the perfon ;. whofe ac- count it is offered.
Money left at the banks may be re-drawn at pleafure, free of ex- penfe ; but no draft to be paid beyond the ballance of accounts.
Bills or notes lodged at the banks for collection will be noticed for payment, and money collected free of expenfe. In cafe of non-pay- ment and proteft, the charge of proteft muft be paid by the perfon lodging the bill.
Payments made at the banks are to be examined at the time, as no deficiency afterwards függefted can be admitted.
Gold coins of England and Portugal are received and paid at the banks at the ra es eftablifted by an act of Congrefs, which became a law in Joly, 1793, viz. 89 cents per pennyweight; and thofe of
