A flourishing incor- porated city in Manitowoc county, 6 miles north of Manitowoc, the judicial seat and nearest banking point, 31 from Sheboygan, 36 from Green Bay, 25 from Kewaunee and 85 miles from Milwaukee, beautifully sit- uated on the shore of Lake Michigan and between two small rivers, making a fine harbor. It contains a saw mill, a chair and wooden ware factory, a wooden type factory, a printers' wood goods factory, a brewery, a live weekly newspaper, the Manitowoc Chronicle, and a graded school. The shipping facilities are good, being the terminus of the M., L. S. & W. Ry. Sta- ges are the only means of travel north, as the Goodrich line of steamers do not call here, having some agreement with the railroad that keeps them out.
