She is survived by her daughter Frances Sinks of Lake Isabella; sister Marie Smith of Topeka Kansas; son Donald Robertson also of Topeka, gr- andaughter Diana Mckee of Wichita and great-granddaughter Bree McKee of Wichita. Mra. Robertson's late husband Lee passed away in 1942. Clare Robertson attended the First Baptist Church of Lake Isabella and was a member of the Tonganoxie (Kansaa) Christian Church.
Clare Robertson was active in Christian work in Tonganoxie and raised three children there after the death of her husband without receiving public assistance of any sort. During WW Il Clare worked at the hazardous task of explosivea packer for the Hercules Powder Com- pany. She was an active member of the Rebekah's in Kansas and was honored recently by the president of the United States upon reaching her 99th birthday.

She was born May 28, 1902 in Hart County, Kentucky. She is survived by a. daughter, Irene Francom of Longview, a sister Stella Jackman of Laramie, Wyoming, and a brother Oliver Hodges of Louisvilla, Ken- tucky, sister Dora Hodges. Lucille E. Baxter
A memorial service was held at the Lake Isabella Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah's witnesses for Lucille Edna Baxter of Bodfish. Mrs. Baxter passed away Nov. 2 at the Kern Valley Hospital, Mt. Mesa.
She is survived by her husband Jim Baxter of Bodfish. Born March 19, 1906 in Ohio, Lucille E. Baxter was 76 years of age.

Powell Tate
Powell Tate of Lake Isabella, for. merly a resident of Morro Bay, passed away Nov. 3 at Greater Baker- sfield Memorial Hospital.
He is survived by his sister and brother in law Annie and Dave Loyd of Lake Isabella; brothers Harold Tate of Los Angeles and Hardy Tate of Sun City.
Powell Tate was a veteran of the U.S. Army who fought in France during WW I. He was also involved to the founding of the American Legion.

He is aurvived by his wife Betty of Wofford Heights; sisters Veronica Trinajestich of Wofford Heights; Evelyn Bishop of Arizona; Marianne Ryan of Arizona; and Winnifred Dahlgren of Blythe.
Mr. Ryan served in the U.S. Navy aboard the battleship Arizona before the sinking of that ship at Pearl Har- bor. He was retired from Civil Service for the U.S. Navy at Terminal Island, California.

Funeral services for Burel Mulkey, 78, Lake Isabella, were held today, November 24, 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Lake Isabella.

Burel passed away at his home Saturday, Nov. 20 following a long

illness. A long-time resident and for- mer World Champion bronc rider, Mulkey was born May 25, 1904, un Clyde, Idaho. He made his home in Salmon, Idaho, until he began his rodeo career.
Burei was the 1937-38 World Cham- pion Bronc rider and the 1938 All- Around World Champion Cowboy. He will be remembered as one of the
greatest all tune bronc riders. He was inducted uito the National Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City in 1965 and into the Kern County Bob Elias Hall of Farne In 1970.
Mulkey retired from the rodeo scene some 40 years ago. He became a rancher and cattleman in the Lake Isabella area. He was employed by the Department of Agriculture as a brand inspector in the mountain areas. Mulkey was last employed by William Joughin, area cattleman and labr! develop.
Burel is survived by his wife, Mer- hle, daughter and son-in-law, Myrna and David Sweeney and one gran- ddaughter, Natalie Sweeney, all of Lake Isabella; two sisters, Edith Diven and Maude Robbins, Boise, Idaho, ano several nieces and nephews

Mr. Lighthizer passed away Nov. 10 at the Kern Medical Center, Baker- sfield. He is surlved by his wife Honey of Lake Isabella; son Craig of Tujunga; daughter Nancy Heck of Benicia and four grandchildren. Joe Lighthizer was a U.S. Army Veteran of WW II who was involved in the preparation and performance of U.S.O. shows for American troops. He was a professional vocalist who enter- tained in the New York area for several years. Mr. Lighthizer was past commander of American Legion Post 377 of Sunland-Tujunga. He was a member of the Kern River Valley Moose and the Eagles.

He is survived by his wife Carol, of Wofford Helghts; son Donald of Mammoth Lakes; and cousins Orri and Everette Beale of Davenport, lowa.
Mr. Cook had resided in California since 1941 and had lived in the Kern River Valley for the past 20 years. Before retirement he had been an auto mechanic. He was a member of KRV Elks Lodge No. 2358 and the Kernville Lions Club

A memorial service was held at the Kern River Valley Masonic Temple, Kernville, for Earl F. Bizler, Jr. of Squirrel Valley. Officiating were of- ficers of Kern River Valley Masonic Lodge No. 827. Mr. Bizler was stricken at home and passed away at the Kern Velley Hospital on Nov. 18.

Allen R. "Chris" Christopher
A graveside funeral service was held at the Kern River Valley cemetery, Wofford Heights for Allen Roti Christopher of Kernville. Of- ficiating was Reverend Timothy An- derson, Pastor of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Lake Isabella.
Mr. Christopher passed away at Mercy Hospital Bakersfield on Nov. 26. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Roberta of Kernville: son Carl of Bakersfield; brothers James and John of Chatsworth; brother Gilman of Mesa, Arizona; sisters Marilyn Butler of La Habra; Alice Bowman of Northridge; Lillie Mayberry of Granada Hills. Allen Christopher's mother Mrs. Marie Christopher resides in Chatsworth
Mr. Christopher is preceeded in death by his father Gerhard John Christopher and brother Claire Christopher. Allen R. Christopher was a 25 year member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 761 He and his family had moved to Kernville in May, 1977 having been weekend visitors to this valley since 1954.

Fred Leroy Warren
Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the Wofford Heights Four Square Church for Fred Leroy Warren, 12, Wotford Heights, who died December 3. Rev. Fred Wymore will officiate, interment will

A memorial service for Vera Haynes will be held December 20 at 1.30 p.m. in Highland Chapel United Methodist Church in Lake Isabella. Mrs. Haynes passed away in a Bakersfield Hospital December 9 af- ær a lengthy illness. Graveside ser- wices were held in Chickasha, Oklahoma, December 13.
She had been a resident of the Kern River Valley for 25 years. She was a member of Highland Chapel Church where she was a conscien- Lious and enthusiastic church worker and the 55 plus club.
She is survived by three daughters, Naomni Horton of Bod- fish, Doris Peters of Fresno and Dorothy Gunningham of Inglewood, two grandchildren, Dr. Ronald Peters of Malibu and Charlsa Boone of Los Angeles, one great-grandson, one brother, Oscar Knowles of Chickasha, Oklahoma and many nieces and nephews.
Albert Edgar Calderwood
A graveside funeral service was held Dec. 16 at the Kern River Valley cemetery for Albert E. Calderwood of Bodfish. Officiating was Reverend Dave Snow, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Lake Isabella. Mr. Calderwood passed wway Dec. 13 at his residence in Bod- fish. He is survived by his wife Mae of Bodfish; brother Walter Calder- wood of Brea; grandchildren Bert Duncan, Brenda Duncan; Kathleen Duncan and great grandson Timmy Gutieriez all of Torrance.
Born February 14, 1914 in La Habra, California, Albert Calder- wood served in the U.S. Army during WW II and moved to the Kern River Valley in 1971. He was 68 years of age. Arrangements by Valley Mor- luary.

Virjean E. "Jean" Thomas
A funeral service was held at the First Baptist Church Lake Isabella un Thursday Dec. 16 for Jean Thomas of Bodfish. Officiating was Reverend Dale Brown. Mrs. Thomas passed away at the Kern Valley Hospital, Mt. Mesa on Dec. 13. She Is survived by her husband Joseph of Bodfish; son Russell of Bodfish and daughter Barbara Wyly also of Bod- fish; grandchildren Kelly Wyly; Chris Wyly; Jennifer Thomas and Doug Thomas all of Bodfish. One sister Arlene Burris resides in Whit- tier.
Jean Thomas was a resident of the Kern River Valley since 1956 and had resided in Kern County since 1935 and was a graduate of Antelope Valley high school in Lancaster. She was active for many years in the Kern Valley Chamber of Commerce. Born June 24, 1923 in Hemingford, Box Butte County, Nebraska, Vir- jean Erlene Thomas was 59 years of age. Interment at the Kern River Valley cemetery. Arrangements by Valley Mortuary.
