Geoffrey Faux


A memorial service was held Saturday March 27 at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Wit- nesses. Erskine Creek Road, Lake Isabella for Geoffrey Faux, 60, who passed away at his home in Weldon on March 22.


He is survived by his wife Pam, two daughters Sylvia and Patricia and five grandchildren, all of Weldon. A twin brother, Jack, of Florida and a sister Pat, residing in England.


Born in England October 13, 1921, he was a resident of the Valley for ten years.


Maria Louisa Gallego


A funeral mass was held at St. Jude's Church, Wofford Heights on Monday March 29. for Marla I .. Gallego of Kernville. Monsignor Denis J. Doherty officiated at the mass and at the rosary held at Valley Mortuary chapel Sunday evening.


Mrs. Gallego passed away at the Kern Valley hospital March 26. She is survived by her husband Alfredo M. Gallego of Kernville, son I.J. Gallelgo of Glendale, Arizona.


Daughters, Lucille Arnold of San Jose, Lydia Rael of Kernville, sisters Maria Perez of San Jose and Beatrice serving with the Carmelite Sisters in El Monte, California, Thirteen gran- dchildren and five great-


grandchildren.

Virgil Marion Winter


A memorial service will be held at the United States National Cemetery, Riverside, California, at 1 p.m. Friday April 9 for retired Air Force Major Virgil M. Winter of Squirrel Valley.


Present at the services will be the Air Force Honor Guard and Catholic Chaplain of March Air Force Base. Virgil Winter entered the Army Air Corps before WWII and served his country for more than 20 years. He was a veteran of both WW II and the Korean Conflict and before his retirement was a supply aquadron commander with the Strategic Air Command.


He Is survived by his wife Ruth of Squirrel Valley; son and daughter-in- law Stephen and Paula Winter of Riverside; daughter and son-in-law Sandra and Tim Zvada with the U.S. Government serving in West Ger- many; sisters Maxine Boyd of Oklahoma; Myrna Lindell of Camarllio, California; brother Cleo Winter of Missouri and two gran- dchildren Kristi and Kelly Winter of Riverside.


Born January 8, 1918 in Manhattan. Kansas, Virgil M. Winter was 64 years of age. Arrangements by Valley Mor- tuary.


Marshall Buford Carlisle


A funeral service for Marshall B. Carlisle of Wofford Heights was held at the Valley Mortuary Chapel, Lake Isabella, April 6. Officiating was Reverend C. Alton Thomas, Pastor of the First Southern Baptist Church of Kernville. Mr. Carlisle passed away April 3 in Bakersfield.


He came to California from Ken- tucky in 1921 and managed the Melody Ranch owned by Gene Autrey in Newhall. Later Marshall became a carpenter working for movie studios and later for the Newhall Cabinet Shop from which he retired and then moved to the Kern River Valley.


He is survived by his brother T.D. Carliale of Wichita; alsters Dixie Oglesby of Madisonville, Kentucky, Gladys Turley and Minnie Gish both of Evansville, Indiana; Etta Branson of Memphis, Tennesee; Lockeye Carlisle of Tallega, Kentucky and many nieces and nephews.


Marshall Carlisle was a WW II veteran of the Army Air Force and a member of the American Legion.


Born November 17, 1899 in Belcourt near Sebree, Kentucky, Marshall Carlisle was 82 years of age. Inter- ment at the Eternal Valley Memorial Park, Newhall. Arrangements by Valley Mortuary.


Leopoldine J. 'Molly' McGee


A funeral service was held at the Valley Mortuary Chapel, Lake Isabella, for L.J. 'Molly' McGee of Lake Isabella. Mrs. McGee passed away March 31 at the Hilltop Con- valescent in Bakersfield.


She is preceeded in death by her husband Philetus 'Fibber' McGee who passed away in 1969. Mrs. McGee was a member of the Rebekah Lodge 365 of Kernville. Members and officers of the Rebekahs officiated at the ser- vices.


Mrs. McGee had received a 50 year membership pin from the Rebekahs in 1977. Born September 24, 1891, in Chicago, Illinois, Mrs. McGee was 90 years of age.

Henrietta Losey


Henrietta Losey of Wofford Heights passes away on the morning of March 30 at the Kern Valley Hospital, Mt. Mesa. She Is preceeded in death by her husband Jesse Wright Losey who passed away in 1969.


Mrs. Losey is survived by her son James Johnston of Las Vegas, Brother-in-law Paul Losey of Wofford Heights, one grandchild and two great grandchildren.


Born April 30, 1896 in Hoopston, Illinois, Henrietta Losey was 85 years of age.

A funeral service was held at the Kern River Valley cemetery on Tuesday, April 13, for Mary Maude Robinson of Lake Isabella. Mrs Robinson passed away April 10 in Bakersfield


She is preceeded in death by her husband Harry F. Robinson who passed away in 1973. Born August 2. 1890 in Indianola, Iowas, Mary Maude Robinson was 91 years of age.

Georgiana Hattie Wagner


A graveside funeral service will be held at the San Jacinto Valley cemetery, San Jacinto, California for Georgiana H. Wagner of Mt. Mesa.


Mrs. Wagner passed away April 6 in Bakersfield. She is preceeded in death by her husband Frederick Wagner who passed away in 1955.


Survivors include daughter Lorraine March of Mt. Mesa: sons Sherwood A. Wagner of Daggett and Frederick E. Wagner of Hemet; sisters Bessie I Randall of Mankato, Minnesota: Irene Voght of Lake Crystal, Minnesota; Henrietta Riemann of Hankinson, North Dakota: Lillian Peterson of Rosholt, South Dakota and Adeline Vinatieri of Yankton, South Dakota.


Brother Rudolph Klar resides in Milwaukee, Wisc. Five grandchilren and ten great-grandchildren.


Born April 22, 1889 In Norcross, Minnesota, Henrietta Wagner came to California in 1927 and was a resident of the Kern River Valley since 1973. She was 92 years of age.

Albert Spainhower


Memorial services will be held Saturday April 24, in Altadena, Calif. for Albert Spainhower, 75, of South Lake Isabella, who died April 18, in his home after a long illness.


Rev. Dean Smith will officlate. Private cremation was held Monday, and his ashes will be scattered over Lake Isabella at the request of the deceased.


Spainhower was a native of Illinois and was born July 10, 1906. He was a welder for over 30 years and retired from the California Tank and Con- struction Company a few years ago.


Spalnhower moved to South Lake Isabella with his wife Gertrude. He was a member of the Baptist Church and was affiliated with the AFL/CIO Unlon Long Beach Local for over 30 years.


Survivors include his wife and two sons, Albert Smith of Las Vegas, Nev .; and Andrew Smith of Lake Isabella. Centurian Memorial Enter- prises was in charge of arrangemen- ts.


Wofford (Walt) Luster


A graveside funeral service was held April 16 at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, for Wofford (Walt) Luster of Wofford Heights. Luster passed away April 10 ìn Bakersfield. He was 61 years of age.


Born June 15, 1920, in Atco, Georgia, Luster came to California in 1927 and had been a resident of Wofford Heights since 1970.


Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Helen and their four children; Louis Todd of Sepulveda, Larry of Redding, Christine Hickey of Lompoc, California, and Gail Conran of Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Other survivors in- clude nine grandchildren and two brothers and two sisters.


Grace Viola Hauser


A funeral service was held at Valley Mortuary Chapel April 17 for Grace V. Hauser of Wofford Heights. Reverend C. Alton Thomas Pastor of the Ker- nville Southern Baptist Church of- ficiated.


Hauser passed away April 15 at the Kern Valley Hospital, Mt. Mesa.


She Is survived by her husband of 66 years Martin J. Hauser of Wofford Heights; sons Melvin of Wofford Heights, George of Norco, Lavern of Lawndale, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. One sister Rose Clark, resides in Idaho.


Born January 26, 1896 in Joplin, Missouri, Grace Hauser was 86 years of age.

Albert Edward Neisius


A funeral service was held Monday March 26 2:00 p.in. at the Valley Mor- tuary Chapel, Lake Isabella, Califor- nia for Albert E. Neisius of Lakeland Estates-Lake Isabella. Reverend Dave Snow Pastor of The First Bap- tist Church of Lake Isabella, of- ficiated.


Mr. Neisius passed away April 22 at the Kern Valley hospital, Mt. Mesa, Ca.


He Is surived by his wife Ella L. Neisius of Lake Isabella, daughter Sherry Brodek of Monrovia, Ca. Step- sons Charley Haug of Aurora, Colo., Pat Haug of Manhattan Beach, Ca .; brothers Clifford Neisius of Glen- wood, Minnesota; Ray Neisius of Pilger, Nebraska; and Robert Nelslus of Siloam Springs, Arkansas. One sister Hazel Nielsen resides in South Dakota. There are four gran- dchildren.


Albert Neisius was a Veteran of WW II where he served with the Army Air Corps. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and Kern River Valley Elks Lodge No. 2358. Born March 7, 1908 in Silver Creek, Nebraska, Albert E. Nelslus was 74 years of age.

Ann Frank Elconin


Dr. Ann Frank Elconin died Satur- day, April 24 at Mercy Hospital in Bakersfield


There will be no services. Family meinbers request that donations be made to favorite charities in her name.


Dr. Elconin, 56 was born in Los Angeles. She was a graduate of the University of Southern California Medical School and specialized in in- Lernal medicine.


Ann Elconin was the former wife of the late Judge Milton Elconin. Seven grandchildren and two grandchildren survive her.


The children are Lynn Bauer and Mark of Bakersfield; Karen Dodd, Darrow and Teresa of Havilah; Mark of Santa Clara and Roger of Meadow Valley


Before moving to Havilah in 1971, Dr. Elconin was chief of emergency medicine at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center. She was a member of the Kern County Medical Society and the Calitormia Medical Association.


Dr. Elcomin maintained a medical practice in Mt. Mesa from 1971 until shortly before her death.


Frieda J. Radusch


Dr. Frieda J. Radusch, 90. Wofford Heights, CA., passed away Saturday, April 24 at the Kern Valley Hospital.


Born July 13, 1892, Dr. Radusch conducted a 50-year physician and surgeon practice in South Dakota. She moved to the Kern River Valley ten years ago and lived with her sister, Minna Growden, Wofford Heights.


Other survivors include nephew, Ir- vin Oats of Texas and Carl Radusch, Los Angeles.


Dr. Radusch was acuve in many community service organizations over the years Among theni was Zon- ta Club of which she was second president. Zonta International has set up a Meinorial fund for Trained Prac- tical Nurses at the Vo-Tech School in Rapid City, S.D. Donations to the Memorial will be welcomed.


No local services were held. Dr. Radusch's ashes were taken to the Black Hills of South Dakota for dispersal

Gene Elliot Luther


A funeral service was held April 22 graveside at the Kern River Valley cemetery, Wofford Heights for Gene E. Luther of Kernville. Officiating was Reverend Timothy Anderson Pastor of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Lake Isabella.


Mr. Luther passed away April 20 at the Kern Valley hospital, Mt Mesa He is survived by his wife Gloria of Kernville; parents Mr. and Mrs. Hobart Luther of Garden Grove; daughter Kim ur rowland Heights; sons Blake ud Kip both of Whittier and aunt and uncle Mr. and Mrs. Carl Luther of Lake Isabella


Gene E'. Luther was a Captain of the Los Angeles Police Dept. Retired af- ter 23 years of service. Following his retirement from LAPD he was an in- structor for five years at Fullerton College where he taught Police Scien- ce and served as Commander of the Fullerton Police Academy. In this position he was responsible for the training of Police Officers for many Orange County cities. Gene Luther served aboard the Escort Carrier U.S.S. Cowpens in the Pacific during WW II


Born in White Deer, Texas, July 7, 1927, Gene Islhot Luther was 54 years of age. Arrangements by Valley Mor- tuary.

Funeral services were held Friday April 23 in Church of the Hills at Forest Lawn, in Hollywood Hills for Carol Anita Dail, 43 of Monrovia, who died April 20


Rev. Mike Barbarick ofticiated the services.


Born January 12, 1939, in Texas, Carol came to California in 1940.


Survivors include husband Kelvin Dail of Monrovia; mother and step- father Arrie and Roy Anthony of Ker- nville; two daughters Jackie Perry, of Lake Isabella and Kim Roberts of Monrovia; two step daughters Brenda Dorner and Lisa Dail; four gran- dchildren and an Aunt Ouida Lawes, of Kernville.

Maria Elizabeth Hergert


Graveside aervices were held Mon- day, April 26, in the Harbor Lawn Memorial Park at Costa Mesa for Marla Elizabeth Hergert, 94 of Lake Isabella, who died April 23 in a Baker- sfield convalescent Hospital after a short illness.


The Lutheran Church was in charge of religious services and interment followed.


Mrs. Hergert was a native of Russia and was born February 11, 1888 and had lived In the Lake Isabella area for the past three years. She had been a homemaker most of her life and was a member of the German Lutheran Church.


She is survived by her children William Frederick Hergert of San Jose, Pauline Lemire of Lake Isabella and Margaret J. Levins of Ensenedas. Also six granchildren, nine great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren


Mish Funeral Home-Oildale was in charge of all arrangements.

Ronald Steven Castorina


A graveside funeral service was held at the Kern River Valley cemetery on Saturday May 1, for Ronald S. Castorina of Wofford Heights. Officiating was reverend Timothy Anderson Pastor of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Chur- ch, Lake Isabella. Ronald Castorina passed away during the morning of April 28 the victim of a motor vehicle accident near Kernville.


He is survived by his parents Mr. & Mrs. Ben Burns of Wofford Heights; his fiancee Sandy Abshire of Lake Isabella; brother and sister-in-law Robert and Lori Castorina of Granda Hills; sister and brother-in-law Kathy and Chuck Nelson of Wofford Heights.


Ronald Castorina was an avld fisherman who loved the lake. He will be remembered by his many friends and loved ones. Born April 10, 1960 in Anaheim, California, Ronald S. Castorina was 22 years of age.

Ivan Stewart


Services will be held Thursday, May 13 at 2 p.m. for Ivan Stewart, of Bodfish who dies May 10 in Baker- sfield. Stewart was 72 years of age.


Stewart was the retiring President of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

Gail Adeline Wofford


Services were held Monday at 11 a.m. in Hillerest Mortuary Chapel for Gail Wofford. 63. who passed away May 6 in a Bakersfield hospital.


Mrs. Wofford was born in Kern County in 1919 to Clayton and Dell Ripley. ranchers in the South Fork Valley and descendents of the pioneer Cross and Ripley families. Gail and her husband. John, had been in the cattle business for the past 30 years in the Kernville and Granite Station arcas


She is survived by her husband. John: daughters. Linda Sheetz of Bakersfield and Diane Vance of Kern Valley: grandchildren. John and David Perkins. Michael, Karen and Kenneth Sheetz and landa Vance. She is also survived by her brother. Clayton Ripley of Pomona and a sister, Lois Coates of Canoga Park and their children.


Pallbearers were David Sweeney. Bob Powers. John Hall, Gary Perkins. Steve Perkins and Lane Robinson. Of- ficiating at services was Rev. E.F. "Bud" Frye of the Grace Baptist Church.


Interment will be in the family plot at Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Kern County Cancer Society

A funeral service was held at the Valley Mortuary Chapel May 5, for Mary A. Rogers of Lake Isabella. Of- ficiating was Reverend Dave Snow Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Lake Isabella.


Mrs. Rogers passed away May 1 at the Kern Valley Hospital, Mt. Mesa. She is preceeded in death by her husband Charlie C. Rogers deceased in 1977: daughter Irene Singleton deceased in 1979; son Charles C. Rogers deceased 1973 and great gran- dson Jaek Strom deceased 1977.


Mary Rogers is survived by her daughter Esther Lindsiey of North Hollywood; grandsons Frank Rogers also of North Hollywood; Leon Singleton of Visalia; Terry Truskett of Panorma City: granddaughters Barbara IInk of los Angeles: Patricia Payne of Bakersfield: Judy Osterhout of N. Hollywood; four great-grandchildren and one great- great-granddaughter.


Mary Rogers was an active mem- ber of the First Baptist Church of Lake Isabella and was a winner of a quilting contest here in the Kern River Valley 3 years ago. Born Sept. 10, 1887 in Cauthron, Scott County, Arkansas. Mary Alice Rogers was 94 years of age.

Clifford Paul Waters


A gravealde funeral service was held Wednesday, May 12, at the Kern River Valley Cemetery for Clifford P. Waters of Kernville. Officiating was Reverend Rob Langguth.


Waters passed away May 9 In Bakersfield. He is survived by his wife Virginia of Kernville; son Stanley Waters of Bullhead City, Arizona; daughter Marlene Davis of Torrance and six granchildren.


Waters was a member of the Douglas El Segundo Rod and Gun Club. Born October 8, 1916 in Lyons, Kansas, Clifford Waters was 65 years of age.

Thurmon Paul Glover


A funeral mass was held at the St. Jude's Catholic Church Wofford Heights for Thurmon P. Glover of Lake Isabella. Officiating was Reverend Monsignor Denis J. Doher- ty.


Glover passed away May 8 in Lake Isabella. He is survived by his wife Loretta of Lake Isabella; daughter and son-in-law Violet and John Porizek of Lawndale; son Jack Kane of Troutdale, Oregon; brothers Ed Glover of Hollywood and Roy Glover of San Bernardino; slaters Ruth Wyler of San Bernardino; Etbel Brace of Sacramento; Neva Reichard of Santa Ana; seven grandsons, one grand daughter and thirteen great grandchildren.


Thurmon Glover was a member of the Moose Lodge No. 196 of the Kern River Valley. Born April 21, 1904 in Toledo, Missouri, Thurmon Glover was 78 years of age.

Patricia Fern Kaan


Patricia F. "Pat" Kaan passed away May 12 at Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield. Mrs. Kaan was a resident of Kernville and is survived by her sister Mabel Kaupman of Missourl. Mrs. Kaan worked for many years in the entertainment industry as a dancer under the stage name of Pat Paradice.


Born in Rural Nebraska on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 1912, "Pat" Kaan was 70 years of age. Cremation arrangements by Valley Mortuary.


Ivan S. Stuart


A memorial service was held Thur- sday May 13 at the Valley Mortuary Chapel, Lake Isabella for Ivan S. Stuart of Bodfish. Officiating was Reverend John D. Spear Pastor of St. Pauls Episcopal Church, Bakersfield.


Mr. Stuart passed away May 10 in Bakersfield. He is survived by his wife Sally of Bodfish. Ivan Stuart was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and was the retiring president of the Kern River Valley Chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal Em- ployees.

Claude Marvin Moore


A funeral service was held Tour- sday May 20 at the Valley Mortuary Chapel, Lake Isabella for Claude M. Moore of Larsen Tract. Reverend Rob Langguth, Pastor of the Kernville United Methodist Church, officiated.


Mr. Moore passed away May 16 at San Joaquin Community Hospital, Bakersfield, the victim of a traffic ac- cident on Highway 178 late Saturday night May 15.


He is survived by his wife Jessie of Larsen Tract; son Jerry of Burbank; daughters Donna Paschal of Simi Valley; Sherryl Vandenberg of Kaukawne, Wisconsin; eight gran- dchildren and one great-grandchild.


Mr. Moore was a member of the KRV Winnebago Club and member of the KRV C.B. Club. Claude Moore was an Army Veteran of WW II who ser- ved with the Army of Occupation in Germany.

Elmer "Grandpa" Redfern


Services were held at Valley Mor- tuary in Lake Isabella May 14 for Elmer "Grandpa" Redfern of Lake Isabella who died May 12. Rev. Buddy Holbrock of the First Baptist Church, in Taft officiated.


Elmer was born in Blackbarn, Arkanaaa February 26, 1909. He moved to California in 1948, and was a resident of Lake Isabella for the past 18 years. Redfern was 73 years old.


Survivor's Include a wife, Helen Pearl of Maricopa California, three sons, Odos Earl of Lake Isabella, Elmer Harold of Onyx and Larry Ray of Maricopa; three daughters Ellen Dyann Lindley of Taft, Linda Marie Glenn of Bakersfield and Glenda Mae


Sills of Taft, two brothers, Charles Redfern of Girard, Kansaa and a twin brother, Elbert also of Girard, Kan- sas; two sisters, Irene Buck of Baker- afield and Cora Mae Moyer of Sacramento; 31 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

A funeral service was held graveside at the Kern River Valley cemetery for Bertha May Mc Bee of Kernville, on May 25, officiating was Reverend Linda D. Inlow, Pastor of the Highland Chapel United Methodist Church, Lake Isabella. Mrs. Mc Bee passed away May 23 at the Kern Valley hospital.


She is preceeded in death by ber husband George Mc Bee deceased in 1968. Mrs. Mc Bee is survived by ber daughters Maizie Sullivan of Ker- nville, Izetta Betta of Wofford Helghts; grandson El Roy Santany of Texas; granddaughters Kathleen Hassett of Laguna Beach, Penny Simpson of Mar Vista; alx great- grandchildren and three great-great- grandchildren.


Born September 3, 1885 in Hudson, Wisconsin, Bertha May Mc Bee was $6 years of age. Arrangements by Valley Mortuary of Lake Isabella.


Zelma H. Lieffring


A funeral service was beld May 27 at the First Baptist Church, Lake Isabella for Zems Liettring of Laka Isabella. Officiating was Reverend Dave Snow, Pastor. Mrs. Liettring passed away at Kern Valley hospital, Mt. Mesa on May 23.


She is survived by ber husband Walter H. Lettring of Lake Isabella and three nieces reading in Callfornia and one niece in Montana.


Born May 24, 1903 in Sumner, Cald- well County, Kansas, Zelma Liettring was one day from her seventy ninth birthday.


Arrangements by Valley Mortuary, interment at the Kern River Vandy cemetery where committal services were conducted by Kernville Rebekabs Lodge No. 385 Frances Scott, Noble Grand.


William Laurance Lemire


Memorial services will be held Saturday May 29 in the Kernville Masonic Lodge No. 837 F. & A.M. for William Laurance Lemire, 76, of 6400 Sagebrush Road, Lake Isabella wbo died May 19, in a Bakersfield Hospital after a short illness.


The officers of the Kernville Masonic Lodge will otticiata, and at the request-of the deosased for-mas cremated May 20 in Bakersfield and his ashes will be scattered in the Sequotas.


Mr. Lemire was a native of Lad- dington, Mich; and bad lived in this community since 1934. He was a tool designer for over 15 years and was af- filiated with Standard Steel Manufac- turing Co. He was a member of the Kernville Masonic Lodge No. 827 F. & A.M. The Scottish Rite bodies and was a Al Malliaka Shriner.


Survivors include his wife Pauline, his sons, William L. Jr., and wife Carol, his daughter Joy Griffith, a brother Duane and 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
