An incorporated town and postoffice in the Pecos valley, on the A., T. & S. F. Ry., 16 miles south of Roswell. Surrounded by a finely irrigated agricultural dis- trict and growing rapidly. Farm- ing the chief industry. Among Dexter's business enterprises at the present time may be mention- ed a bank, three good general stores, one hotel, two lumber yards, hardware store. livery barn, barber shop. meat market. blacksmith shop, drug store and various other enterprises. Dexter has also one of the largest ar- tesian wells in the Pecos valley. Population 350.
