Females who have tried it, are unanimous in declaring the Elixir to be the greatest boon that woman has ever received from the hands of medical science. They liave even broken through the constitutional diffidence of the scx, and certified to its invigorating properties. Weakness, and the innumerable com- plaints of which it is sometimes the consequence, has hlighted the hopes of a married pair, and doomed them to a childless old age. This powerful restorative is absolutely infallible in all such cases, imparting to the whole system a healthful vigor, and sustaining, without the possibility of a relapse, uutil the con- stitution itself sympathizes with the organization, and the cure is entire and permanent.

Morse's Iuvigorating Elixir has a direct, immediate, and astonishing effect upon the appetite. While it renews the strength of the digestive powers, creates a desire for the solid material which is to be suh- jected to their action. As an appetizer, it has no equal in the pharmacopcia. If long life, and the vigor necessary to its enjoyment, are desired, this medicine is indeed of priceless worth. Arabia, where the principal ingredients in its composition have been used for ages by the wandering tribes, has been noted from the earliest period of history for the longevity of its inhabitants, and they universally regard it as a means of prolonging human existence beyond the ordinary span. Iu the Cordial this peculiar pro- perty is not only preserved hut rendered more effective by concentration.

CAUTION .- Dr. Morse's Invigorating Cordial has been counterfeited by some unprincipled persons. In all cases the genuine article will have the proprietor's fac-simile pasted over the cork of each bottle, and the following words hlown in glass :- " DR. MORSE'S INVIGORATING CORDIAL,-C, H. RING, PROPRIETOR, N. Y." 'The cordial is put up highly concentrated, in pint hottles, price $3 per bottle, two for $5, and six for $12. C. H. RING, PROPRIETOR, 192 Broadway, New York.

Sold by Druggists throughout the United States, Canada, and the West Indies.

PREFATORY.

The compilation of this work has been attended with a great deal of labor and expense. Every effort has been made to procure full and accurate infor- mation from all parts of the two States of Illinois and Missouri, and the publisher takes pleasure in presenting the result of those efforts for the patronage of a gener ous public, indulging the hope that they will overlook imperfections and give him full credit for the large amount of valuable information hereby afforded.

Many difficulties have been encountered in the compilation of this book on account of the vast extent of territory embraced, and the lack of facilities for reaching many remote portions of the country. It is believed, however, that an impartial examina- tion will satisfy any one as to its general correctness and utility.

With these brief remarks, " The Illinois and Missouri State Directory " is con- fidently committed to the current of popular favor by
