In Arithmetic, Grammar, Geography, Algebra and Latin there are from turce to five classes each, so that students can enter school at any time and be classed accord- ing to their advancement.
For many years the health of the students has been uniformly good. There is proba- bly no healthier locality in the State.
The Friends and Methodists both hold religions services on the Sabha'4, as ? cach maintains a Sabbath school. The Young Men's Christian Association hobis a meeting for worship one evening cach week.
A sufficient number of teachers is constantly employed, so that large classes may be avoided, nud students may receive personal attention during ench recitation.
Expenses are as low as at any other school affording equal advantages.
The managers of the school are very careful to make this an institution in which students who are away from home and its restraints, will be surrounded hy good, moral influences, and in this they have the co-operation of the citizens of the village. Students are required to keep sindy hours during the evening.
There are no beer, liquor, or billiard saloons in the village.
The High School building has recently been enlarged, and much better accommoda- tions are furnished than formerly.
No student whose influence is known to have a corrupting tendency, will be retain- ed in the school.
Diploma.
Shudders, whose cor duct is exemplary, and who complete the course of study, will be furnished with a Diploma, signed by the Instructors and the President of the Board of Trustees,

The above course of study has been prepared with reference to those students who do not expect to pursue a college course, but who deshe to acquire a knowledge of those branches which will fit them for active fire. Special attention, however, Is given to preparing students for college.
Eloention and English Literature receive special attention; the latter consists of a brief history of the rise and growth of the English language, the history of The Hives of the leading authors, and a erfileal sindy of parts of Their works.
In the bath and Greck languages, rnosoren pant. on The declension of nouns and the conmgatlon of verbs, Isgiven, and also on the application of the rules of construction. The amount of work In these languages will be the same as That required by the college which students propose to enter.

This course Includes Qualitative Analysis and practical work in the Laboratory.
CIVIL ENGINEERING.
This course Includes Land Survey Ing, Leveling, and the practical use of the Transit and the Level.
COMMERCIAL DEPARTMENT.
In this department Instruction Is given In Penmanship, forms and uses of business papers, Single and Double Entry Book-keeping.
NORMAL DEPARTMENT.
Special attention will be given to the training of teachers. To this end the first efforts will be directed towards securing thorough and accurate knowledge of the subject matter; then Instruction will be given In the methods of teaching, school organization, and the philosophy of education. For Those attending In This department the Primary and Interme- dlate schools afford an opportunity to learn, both by observation and practice, the best methods of teaching.

Literary Societies.
There are three permanent Literary Soeletles connected with the school : The Lucernian, conducted by the ladies, and the Crescent and Gfisco Socleties, by the gentlemen. Literary organizations are also sustained by the Intermedlate and Grammar School Students, Care Is taken to make students acquainted with the rules governing parliamentary bodies
Libraries.
There are three Libraries In connection with the school, which contain about two thousand volumes. Two of them belong to the Literary Socleties, and the other to the Academy Asso- ciation. Additions are made each year.
Reading Room.
A Reading Room has recently been opened, to which all students have access. IL Is sup- plled with the leading pertodleals, and a number of valuable papers, Cyclopediais and other valuable books of reference are free to all. New books are added cach year.
Lectures.
Lectures are frequently given by the teachers, and opportunitles are also afforded for bearing distinguished lecturers from abroad.
Apparatus and Cabinet.
The Academy Is supplied with sufficient apparatus to be a valuable aid In studying the Natural Selenees; also a Geologteal Cabinet containing many valuable specimens, which has been enlarged by the addition of a valuable collection of over twelve hundred speelmens. purchased and presented to The Academy by Its Anumil.
Boarding.
The cost of boarding and lodging the past year has been about $3.00 per week. Rooms can be rented by those who wish to board themselves, and the cost reduced to less than $1.75 per week. A club has been in successful operation, and the entire cost of board, room-rent, light and fuel, was reduced to $2.10 per week.
Location.
The School is In the village of Spleeland, which Is situated on the Fort Wayne, CiachhatI & Louisville Raffroad, and two a half mfles north of Duurelth, on the Pittsburgh, Cincinnati & St. Louis Rallroad.
General Items.
The goverment of the school Is based upon the Idea that manhood is more than scholar- ship, and that self-respect and self-control, on the part of the student, are Important factors in the formation of character. The managers of the school are very careful to make this an Institution In which students, who are away from home and Its restraints, will be surrounded by good, moral influences, and in this they have the co-operation of the citizens of the village.
Students are required to keep study hours during the evening. . There are no beer, Ilquor, or bifflard saloons In the village.
No student whose Influence Is known to have a corrupting tendency, will be retained in the school.
Diploma.
Students, whose conduct Is exemplary, and who complete the course of study, will be furnished with a Diploma, signed by the Instructors and the president of the Board of Trustees.
