MUSIC.
An accomplished teacher of music will give lessons each term on both piano and organ. Those who take music lessons will be charged from $$ to 810 per term extra.
LOCATION.
The school is situated in the village of Spiceland, Henry county, Indiana, two and one half miles north of Dunreith and

eight miles south of New Castle. Dunreith is on the Pittsburg, Cincinnati & St Louis Railroad, and New Castle is on the Chicago branch of the same road. A hack meets the trains twice each day at Dunreith, and after July 1 once each day at New Castle. Mails are received daily.
LITERARY SOCIETIES.
There are three permanent and well sustained literary soci- eties in connection with the school -- The Lucernians, conducted by the ladies, and the Crescent and the Glisco Societies, by the gentlemen.
LIBRARIES AND READING ROOM.
There are three libraries, two belonging to the literary soeie- ties and one to the Academy Association, which contain about two thousand volumes, and additions are constantly being made. A new library building and reading room are in contem plation, aud will doubtless be erected during the summer.
LECTURES.
A lecture association affords an opportunity for hearing the most distinguished lecturers in the country. Numerous lectures are also given in connection with the school.

APPARATUS AND CABINET.
The institution is supplied with a full line of chemical and philosophical apparatus and an interesting geological cabinet. The students have access to an excellent telescope and several private cabinets of rare value and interest.
BOARDING.
The cost of boarding ranges from $3 to $3 25 per week. There is a boarding house connected with the school, the rooms of which are rented to young women who wish to board themselves. Board need not cost these to exceed $1 50 or $2 per week. A stove, bedstead, two chairs, and a table are provided for each

room, the occupants furnishing such other articles as they may need. The Principal will attend to furnishing wood and pro- visions if desired. "The house is under the care of competent Superintendents. A great many students rent rooms in the vil- lage and board themselves. The cost of board by this method need not be more than. $1 25 per week. The club system of boarding has also been tried with success for several years. The price of board may be considerably reduced by this method. The Principal will give his personal attention to procuring boarding places and rooms for all who may need his assistance.
GENERAL ITEMS.
The school is under the care of the Society of Friends, and students are expected to attend their Sabbath-School an I meet- ing for worship, or those of some other denomination.
Each sindent should be furnished with a Bible.
Students are required to keep study hours during the evening. Evening parties and late hours are strictly forbidden.
There are no beer, liquor, or billiard saloons in the village.
No student will be retained in the school whose influence is known to have a corrupting and immoral tendency.
DIPLOMA.
Students whose conduct is exemplary, and who complete the course of stady will be furnished with a Diploma, signed by the Instructors and the President of the Board of Trustees, having the school in charge.

Remarks.
The above course of study has been prepared with reference to those stu- dents who do not expect to pursue a college course, but who desire to acquire a knowledge of those branches which will fit them for active life, Special at- tention, however, is given to preparing students for college.
In the Latin and Greek Languages, thorough drill on the deelension of nouns and the conjugation of verbs, is given, and also on the application of rules of construction. The amount of work in these Languages will be the same as that required by the college they propose to enter. Greek may be substituted for some of the studies in the last two years of the course.
Classes will be formed in the French and German Languages whenever a sufficient number shall desire to pursue those studies.
Penmanship, Reading an ! Composition will receive attention throughout the whole course of study.
Special Departments.
Advanced Course in Chemistry: This includes Qualitative Analysis and practical work in the Laboratory.
Civil Engineering.
This course includes Land Surveying, Leveling and the practical use of Transit and Level.
Commercial Department.
In this department instruction is given in Penmanship, forms and nses of business papers, Single and Double Entry Bookkeeping.
Normal Department.
Special attention will be given to the training of teachers. To this end the first efforts will be directed towards securing thorough and accurate knowledge of the subject matter; then instruction will be given in methods of teaching, school organization, and the philosophy of education.

As soon as the student has been examined and assigned to his classes, settle- ment will then be expected, either by cash or note.
No deduction will be made for absence after enrollment, except in cases of protracted ill-health.
In event of sickness notice must in all cases be given of the withdrawal of the pupil, as no dednetion will be made until this is done.

The government of the school is based upon the idea that manhood is more than scholarship, and that self-respect and self-control on the part of the student are important factors in the formation of character. Greater stress is laid upon thoroughness of instruction and accuracy of knowledge, than upon rapidity of advancement.

The High School Building has recently been enlarged, and much better accomodations are furnished than formerly.
No student whose influence is known to have a corrupting tendency will be retained in the school.
Diploma.
Students whose conduct is exemplary and who complete the course of study will be furnished with a Diploma signed by the Instructors and the President of the Board of Trustees.
