GENERAL ITEMS.
The government of the school Is based upon the Idea that manhood is more than seholarshulp, and self-respect and self-control, on the part of the student, are important factors in the formatlou of character. Greater stress Is lald upon thoroughness of Instruction and accuracy of knowledge than upon rapidity of advancement.
In Arithmetle, Grammar, Geography, Algebra and Latin there are from three to five classes each, so that students can enter school at any thue and be classed according to their advancement.
For many years the health of the students has been uniformly good. There is probably no healtider locallty In the State.
The Friends and Methodists both hold religious services on the Sabbath, and each maintains a Sabbath school.
A sufficient number of teachers is constantly employed, so that large classes may be avold- ed, and students may receive personal attention during recitation.
The managers of the school are very careful to make this an Institution In which students, who are away froto come and Its restraints, will be surrounded by good, moral Influences, and in this they have the co-operation of the citizens of the village.
It Is the alto to promote the growth of students Intellectually, morally and physically-to make better men and women in every particuln.
Students are required to keep study hours during the evening.
There are no beer, liquor, or billiard saloons In the village.
No student whose Influence is known to have a corrupting tendency, will be retained in the school.
Students, whose eondnet is exemplary, and who complete the course of study, and prepare and dellver a suitable literary production, will be furnished with a Diploma, signed by the instruc- tors and the president of the Board of Trustees.
