Owing to the great difficulty heretofore of making collections, no scholar will be admitted into the School until tuition rates have been paid.

REMARKS UPON COURSE OF STUDY.
Especial pains will be taken to prepare students for Teaching by a thorough and systematic drill in the Common School Branches.
EXAMINATIONS.
Public examinations occur at the close of each Term. Students are frequently required to pass written examinations on their studies.

BOOK KEEPING.
A room is set apart especially for a Commercial course, in which the art of Book Keeping, in its various forms, is thorough- ly taught. Those who take the Commercial course will be charged $20 00 for the First Term of 15 weeks, and $15 00 for each of the other Terms. Students can take one or two studies in connection with the course.
APPARATUS.
In connection with the Labratory, Philosophical and Chemical Apparatus afford opportunities for numerous experiments, and students of natural science are instructed in the methods of ma- king such experiments. Students can also have accession to an excellent Telescope. There is also au interesting Geological Cabinet in connection with the School.
LECTURES.
A Lecture Association affords an opportunity of hearing some of the most distinguished Lecturers in the country. Numerous Lectures are also given in connection with the School.
There are three Libraries in connection with the School, of about Two Thousand Volumes, to which additions are constantly being made.
LITERARY SOCIETIES.
There are three permanent Literary Societies, to which two of the above Libraries belong. These Societies give exhibitions at the close of each Term.
NORMAL INSTITUTE.
The attention of Teachers in this and surrounding counties is invited to the Normal Institute to be held in August. No pains will be spared to make the course of study both interesting and profitable.
LOCATION.
The School is situated in the village of Spiceland, Henry Co., Indiana, 23 miles north of Dunreith,-the latter place situated on the Pittsburg, Cincinnati and St. Louis Railroad. A hack meets the trains twice each day. Mails are received daily.
CATALOGUE OF SPICELAND ACADEMY.
BOARDING.
The cost of Boarding ranges from $3 00 to $3 25 per week. There is a Boarding-house connected with the School, the rooms of which are rented to young women who wish to board them- selves. Board need not cost these to exceed $1 50 or $2 00 per week. A stove, bedstead, two chairs and a table. are provided for each room, the occupants furnishing such other articles as they may need. The Principal will attend to furnising wood and provisions if desired. The House is under the care of competent Superintendents. A great many Students rent rooms in the vil- lage and board themselves. The cost of board by this method need not be more than $1 25 per week. The club system of boarding has also been tried with success for several years. The price of board may be considerably redneed by this method. The Principal will give his personal attention to procuring boarding places and rooms for all who may need his assistance.
The School is under the care of the Society of Friends, and Students are expected to attend their Sabbath School and Meet ing for Worship, or those of some other denomination.
Each student should be furnished with a Bible.
Students are required to keep study hours during the evening. Evening parties and late hours are strictly forbidden.
There are no beer, liquor or billiard saloons in the village.
No student will be retained in the School whose influence is known to have a corrupting and immoral tendehey.
DIPLOMA.
Students whose condnet is exemplary, and who complete their course of study, will be furnished with a Diploma, signed by the Instructors and the President of the Board of Trustees, having the School in charge.
