Students will be received at any time when the school is not full, and tuition will be charged from the time of entering until the close of the term.

Remarks upon the Course of Study.
Normal Classes will be formed for the first six weeks of the
Catalogue of Spiceland Academy.

Autumn term, in the Grammar School studies. for the benefit of those preparing to teach.
Normal Classes will also be formed for the same purpose in the Spring term.
EXAMINATIONS.
Public Examinations ovenr at the close of each term. Stu- dents are frequently required to pass written examinations on their studies.
No student will be allowed to enter any Grade or Department who cannot pass a satisfactory examination on the preceding studies of the course.
INCORPORATION, AND ENDOWMENT.
The School has been legally incorporated, and is managed by Trustees, who are appointed by the Society of Friends. An en- dowment fund of $3,000 has already been raised and placed at interest, and measures have lately been taken to have it materi- ally increased.
LECTURES.
Lectures are frequently given on Literary and Scientific sub- jeets. Those on Natural Science are illustrated by experiments with Philosophical apparatus when the subject requires them.
A Lecture Association affords an opportunity, each year, of hearing some of the most distinguished lecturers in the country.
LIBRARIES.
There are three Libraries in connection with the school, of nearly Two Thousand Volumes, to which additions are constantly being made.
LITERARY SOCIETIES.
There are three permanent Literary Societies, to which two of the above Libraries belong. These Societies give exhibitions at the close of each term.
BOARDING.
The cost of Boarding ranges from $3.00 to $3.50 per week.
There is a Boarding House near the School, the rooms of which are rented to young women who wish to board themselves. Board need not cost these to exceed $1.50 or $2.00 per week. A stove, bedstead. two chairs and a table are provided for each room, the ocenpants furnishing such other articles as they may need. The Principal of the School will attend to furnishing wood and provisions when it is desired. The house is under the care of competent superintendents.
Rooms can be rented in the village by students who wish to board themselves. For those who board in this way the average cost has been less than $1.25 per week.

The club system of boarding has been successfully tried the past two years. By this method the cost of living, including room rent, is from $1.60 to $2.00 per week.
The whole expense of attending school one year, including tuition, need not exceed $125.00.
GENERAL ITEMS.
The School is under the care of the Society of Friends, and students are expected to attend their Sabbath School and Meet- ing for Worship, unless they attend some other denomination. Each student should be furnished with a Bible.
Students are required to observe study hours during the even- ing.
Evening parties and late hours are strictly forbi.lden.
A majority of those taking boarders have agreed to assist the Principal iu carrying these regulations into effect, so that parties from a distance, who may place their children in this School may rely upon having them under watchful care and home influence.
Students in Astronomy can have access to an excellent Tele- scope with a four and one-half inch Object Glass and six feet focal distance.
Within the last year a Geological Cabinet has been added, and additions to it are frequent.
There are no beer, lignor, or billiard saloons in the village.
No student will be retained in the school. whose infinence is known to have a corrupting and immoral tendency.
DIPLOMA.
Students whose conduct is exemplary, and who complete either course of study, will be furnished with a Diploma, signed by the Instructors and the President of the Board of Trustees, having the School in charge.

The Managers can assure the public that they have already engaged experienced Teachers for every department of the School.

The School is situated in the village of Spiceland, Henry county, Indiana, two and a half miles north .: Dunreith, on the Pittsburg, Cincinnati & St. Louis Railroad. A Hack meets the trains twice each day. Mails are received daily.
