It is a lively business town, with con- siderable activity and enterprise, containing three churches --- Catholic, Presbyterian and Methodist-graded school, four hotels, two banks, two newspapers, the Commercial and Sun. The Salamonic river flows by the village but is not used for water power.

Princeton is nicely laid out, hav- ing wide streets beautifully lined with shade trees, substantial county and public build- ings and handsome residences. It is on the E. & T. H. and L. N. A. & St. L. R. Rs, and is the eastern terminus of the Owensville Branch E. & T. H. R. R. The press is represented by two weekly newspapers - Clarion (Republican), and Democrat. It has an extensive grain trade, and exports a large quantity of both corn and wheat. The manufacturing interests. of the place are four flour mills, furniture factory, woolen mill, planing mill and brick and tile mannfactory. The Masons, Odd Fellows and A. O. U. W. have lodges here.
