Young Ladies' Literary Institute. SISTERS OF NOTRE DAME, East Sixth Street, Cincinnati, Ohio.

This Establishment, erected in Cincinnati in 1840, has been incorporated by the State Legislature, and is under the superintendence of the Sisters of Notre Dame. Belonging to the Establishment is a well furnished and judiciously selected Library adapted to the age and capacity of the pupils; a Museum, containing an assortment of specimens in Zoology, Conchology and Mineralogy; an Herbarium of Foreign and Native Plants; and a Philosophical and Chemical Apparatus for the use of the higher classes. There are also Globes, Maps, Charts of the Animal Kingdom, of Botany, Geology, Chemistry, and, in short, everything to make science familiar and attractive. The language of communication in the various studies is English, but the French and German being also spoken by many of the Teachers, the pupils will have every facility to perfect themselves in these.

Every two months, to excite a laudable emulation, the young lady who has most distinguished herself in her classes, receives an honorary medal as a reward. On completing the course of studies a Diploma is given to all those deserving that distinction. The Academic year consists of one session, commencing on the first Monday in September, and ending about the beginning of July. At the close of the Academic year, after a thorough examination, premiums are distributed.
