RISING SUN. The county seat of Ohio county, is located on the Ohio river, 92 miles southeast of Indianapolis, and 38 below Cincinnati. This is a flourishing in- corporated village of 1803 inhabitants, con- taining six churches-Methodist, Presby- terian, Christian, Universalist, Baptist and Lutheran-good graded schools, two hotels, a national bank, two weekly newspapers- the Local and Recorder --- one planing, one saw and two flour mills. The place has a bonded debt of $6,400, substantial county buildings, good business blocks, handsome residences, live, wide-awake business and professional men, and with its rich agricul- tural district and cheap transportation ad- vantages offers especially favorable induce- ments to manufacture or commerce. ROCHESTER. The county seat of Fulton county, is located 98 miles north of Indianapolis, on the I. P. & C. Ry, was settled in 1830, and incorporated as a vil- · lage in 1855, and now contains a popula- tion of 2,500. The public buildings com- prise the county buildings and schools, among the last named is an exceedingly fine building costing $50,000. Has also four churches-two Presbyterian, one Metli- odist and one Lutheran-and one bank. Rochester now has a bonded indebtedness of $20,000. The press is represented by the Rochester Republican and Rochester Senti- nel (Democrat.)
