To Lorenzo E. Brooks, or either of the Constables of the Town of Lincoln, in said County :
GREETING :
In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts you are hereby required to notify and warn the inha- bitants of the Town of Lincoln, duly qualified to vote in Town affairs, to assemble in Bemis Hall, on Monday, March sixth, next, at one o'clock, P. M., to act on the following articles, viz. :
ARTICLE 1. To choose a Moderator.
ART. 2. To hear and act upon the reports of Town Officers, Committees, Commissioners and Trustees.
ART. 3. To choose all necessary Town Officers, Committees, Commissioners and Trustees for the ensu- ing year.
ART. 4. To act upon the jury list presented by the Selectmen.
ART. 5. To appropriate money for necessary and expedient purposes of the Town, and enact anything in relation thereto.

ART. 6. To give in their votes by ballot in answer to the question : "Shall licenses be granted for the sale of intoxicating liquors in this Town." The check list shall be used as provided by Section 5, Chapter 100 of the Public Statutes.
ART. 7. To determine the manner of collecting taxes the ensuing year.
ART. 8. To determine the compensation of the Collector of Taxes for the ensuing year.
ART. 9. To see if the Town will authorize its Treasurer, under the direction of the Selectmen, to borrow money in anticipation of taxes of the current year, and to be paid therefrom.
ART. 10. To see if the Town will choose a Com- mittee on claims under the provision of Section 3 of Article 6 of the By-Laws.
ART. 11. To see if the Town will purchase a road- roller for use upon the public highways and appropriate money for the same.
ART. 12. To see if the Town will construct and maintain a sidewalk upon one side of the road, leading from the center of the Town to the depot of the Fitch- burg Railway, and widen the road at points, if too narrow for such construction, and appropriate money for the cost of the same.
ART. 13. To see if the town will, (before laying the water-pipe on the Weston Road) have such a survey, grading and widening of the road, as may seem wise on the part of the Town, to the Civil Engineer em- ployed by the Water Board, and appropriate money for the same.

ART. 14. To see if the Town will revoke its ac- ceptance of Chapter 374 of the Acts of 1895, and accept the provisions of Chapter 158 of the Statutes of the year 1871, and choose three Road Commissioners.
ART. 15. To see if the Town will appropriate the sum of $400.00, to pay for drawings, specifications and estimates for a new school building, and also for re- modelling the old Centre School building, ordered and duly approved by the Special Committee appointed by the town, and accepted by the Town Meeting March 1, 1896.
ART. 16. To see if the Town will extend the water pipes along the road from Mr. Ogden Codman's east gate to his west gate, and provide for the payment of such extension.
ART. 17. To see if the Town will provide the neces- sary room and teachers in So. Lincoln, to fit the chil- dren belonging in So. Lincoln, for the High School, or take any action in relation to the matter.
ART. 18. To see if the Town will settle with the owners for land taken by the Water Commissioners on the shores of Sandy Pond, on the same terms as they have settled with Geo. G. Tarbell and Helen V. V. Warren.
ART. 19. . To see if the town will reconsider any, or all votes under Articles 3, 4, 8 and 9, passed at a Town Meeting held October 28th, 1898, or take any action in relation to the subject matter of said Articles.
ART. 20. To see if the Town will make any appro- priation to pay bills contracted during the last financial year, in excess of appropriations, or take any action in relation thereto.

And you are directed to serve this warrant by post- ing an attested copy thereof at each of the Post Offices, and in one of the Churches, or one other public place within the Town, not less than seven days before the day appointed for such meeting, and to make season- able return thereof, with your doings thereon, to the Town Clerk.

ART. 6. To give in their votes by ballot in answer to the question, " Shall licenses be granted for the sale of intoxicating liquors in this town?" The check list shall be used, as provided by Section 5, Chapter 100, of the Public Statutes.

ART. 7. To determine the manner of collecting taxes the ensuing year.

Voted, That the compensation be 12 per cent.
ART. 9. To see if the Town will authorize its Treasurer, under the direction of the Selectmen to borrow money in anticipation of taxes of the current year and to be paid therefrom.
Voted, that for the purpose of procuring a temporary loan to, and for the use of the Town of Lincoln, the Town Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to borrow from time to time, with the approval of a majority of a board of Selectmen, a sum or sums in the aggregate amounting to fifteen thousand dollars and execute and deliver the note or notes of the Town therefor, payable within one year from the time the loan is made, with interest thereon at a

rate not exceeding six per cent per annum. Any debt or debts in- curred by a loan or loans to the Town under this vote shall be paid from the taxes of the present municipal year.
ART. 10. To see if the Town will choose a Committee on Claims under the provisions of Section 3 of Article 6 of the By-Laws.
Voted, to choose a Committee on Claims, consisting of three persons, under the provisions of Section 3 of Article 6 of the By-Laws.
ART. 11. To see if the Town will cause the Town House to be painted, and other repairs to be made, and appropriate money for the same.
Voted, in connection with Article 5 to appropriate $300 for this purpose.
ART. 12. To see if the Town will erect a tablet to designate the place where Paul Revere was captured by the British spies, when on his journey to Concord on the night of April 18, 1775, and ap- propriate money for the same, or take any other actions thereon. ·Laid on the table.
ART. 13. To see if the Town will re-appropriate the whole or any part of sums appropriated during the last year and not ex- pended for the purpose of building a new Pumping Station, pro- curing new machinery and laying a new pumping main from the pond to the reservoir for the purposes mentioned in Chapter 188 of the Acts of 1872 ; or will appropriate any further sums for the said purposes ; and will borrow any money for the said purposes and authorize the issue of any bonds, notes or script for such in- debtedness under the provisions of Chapter 341 of the Acts of the year 1897, to an amount not exceeding altogether $12,000, includ- ing the loans authorized by the votes of the Town for the said purpose May 27, 1897, or take any further action in relation to the matter.
Voted, To consider this article in connection with Article 14.
ART. 14. To see if the Town will designate a site for the new Pumping Station, or take any action in relation to the matter.
Voted, That a Committee of three, consisting of Frank H. Jones, Henry E. Warner and Henry R. Page, investigate and re- port to the Town as soon as possible as to the best location for a new Pumping Station, and that they are authorized to do whatever is necessary in the premises and employ experts.

ART. 15. To see if the Town will accept the provisions of Chapter 370 of the Acts of the year 1891, and all other acts which may become necessary in order to make said Act operative.

ART. 16. To see if the Town will authorize the Selectmen to sell the North School House at public or private sale.

ART. 17. To see if the Town will revoke its acceptance of any act in relation to the highways, and accept any other act, or buy teams or take any other action, in regard to the method of repair- ing the highways.

ART. 18. To take what action the Town shall think proper in relation to a claim of Lewis E. Smith for damage on account of road from the late H. C. Chapin's to Mrs. Campbell's, passing through his land.

ART. 19. To see if the Town will vote to settle the claims of George G. Tarbell and Helen V. V. Warren against the Town for the taking of lands belonging to said Tarbell and Warren respec- tively, on the easterly side of Sandy Pond, by the Water Commis- sioners on March 10, 1896, or any other taking by the Water Commissioners, or by the Town, by the payment of money or by the abandonment or release of any or all of the rights and ease- ments acquired by the Town by virtue of any such taking,or both, and will authorize or direct the Selectmen and Water Commission- ers to execute and deliver to said Tarbell and Warren all such in- struments in writing as may be necessary or proper to effect such abandonment or release.
Voted, That the Selectmen be authorized and directed to execute and deliver in substantially the following forms releases to George G. Tarbell and Helen V. V. Warren respectively, and to pay the sum of $300 to said Tarbell and the sum of $150 to said Warren, and that the Water Commissioners be authorized and directed to abandon the rights and easements so released to said Tarbell and Warren, and execute and deliver to them respectively declarations of such abandonment, upon the delivery by said Tar-

bell and Warren respectively to the Selectmen of good and suffi- cient releases of and from all claims, demands and causes of action which they severally have against the Town by reason of the tak- ing of the lands of said Tarbell and Warren by the Town on March 10, 1896.

ART. 20. To see if the Town will lay a water pipe from the . stone watering trough to Miner's Corner, or if the Town will bear any expense in laying a new pipe to the house of Ogden Codman, and make provisions for the payment of the same.

ARTICLE 1. To choose a Moderator.

ART. 2. To hear the Report of any Committee appointed or chosen by the Town, and act thereon.
The Report of the Committee on Location of Pumping Station was received and read by Mr. Warner and discussed in connection with Article 4.
ART. 3. To see if the Town will appropriate any further sums for legal expenses, and to settle claims for land taken by the Water Commissioners around Sandy Pond, or enact anything in relation to the matter.
Voted, To appropriate $500 for the Committee on Claims for legal expenses.

ART. 4. ART. 5. To see if the Town will lay a water pipe from the stone watering trough to Miner's Corner, or if the Town will bear any expense in laying a new pipe to the house of Ogden Codman and make provision for the payment of the same.
Voted, Unanimously, to appropriate $600 to lay a four-inch main from the stone watering trough to Codman's gate.
ART. 6. To see if the Town will erect a tablet to designate the place where Paul Revere was captured by the British spies when on his journey to Concord on the night of April eighteenth 1775, and appropriate money for the same, or take any other action thereon.

To see if the Town will authorize the Water Commis- sioners to take and hold under the provisions of Chapter one hun- dred and eighty-eight of the Acts of the year eighteen hundred and seventy-two, by purchase or otherwise, any land near or adjoining the road by the south-westerly shore of Sandy Pond, for the purpose of erecting thereon an engine house with its appurtenances and appliances, and of laying pipes to connect such engine house with the Pond and with the present water pipes, and for any or all of the other purposes mentioned in said Chapter, and to see if the Town will authorize the Water Commissioners to take and hold any other lands for any or all of the said purposes ; and to see if the Town will make any appropriation for the taking or purchase of any lands for the said purposes, or take any other action with reference to the subject of this article.
ART. 3. To see if the town will take any further action in regard to the construction of a new pumping station for the water works, procuring new machinery and other appliances therefor, and laying and constructing pipes for the purpose of connecting such engine house with the present water pipes and with Sandy Pond ; and to see if the Town will make any appropriation for any of the said purposes, or take any action upon any appropriation already made therefor.
