TOWN MEETING WARRANT.


COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS.


NORFOLK, SS.


To either Constable of the Town of Norwood, in said County, Greeting :


In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Norwood, qualified to vote in elections and town affairs, to assemble in Village Hall, in said town, on Monday, the fourth day of March, A. D. 1907, at six o'clock in the forenoon, then and there to act on the following articles, namely :


Article 1. To choose a Moderator to preside at said meeting.


Article 2. To choose all necessary town officers. The fol- lowing are to be chosen by ballot namely : Three Selectmen who shall be Assessors, Overseers of the Poor, and Surveyors of Highways ; one Town Clerk, one Town Treasurer, one Col- lector of Taxes, three Auditors, three Park Commissioners, six Constables, one Tree Warden, all for one year ; one member of the Board of Health for three years ; one Water Commissioner for three years; two members of the School Committee for three years, and one member for two years to fill vacancy, and two Trustees of the Morrill Memorial Library for three years ; and also upon the same ballot to vote upon the question, "Shall licenses be granted for the sale of intoxicating liquors in the town? "

Article 3. To hear and act on report of the Auditors on Selectmen's, Treasurer's, Tax Collector's, Water Commission- ers', Sewer Commissioners' and Cemetery Commissioners' accounts.


Article 4. To see if the town will vote to accept the List of Jurors, as prepared by Selectmen, and posted as required by law.


Article 5. To hear and act on report of committees.


Article 6. To see what action the town will take in regard to unexpended appropriations of the past year.


Article 7. To see if the town will vote to authorize the Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow money in anticipation of the taxes for the present municipal year, and to issue notes of the town therefor. The debts in- curred under the authority of this vote are hereby made payable from said taxes.


Article S. To see if the town will vote to authorize the Col- lector of Taxes to use the same means as a Town Treasurer may use when acting as Collector.


Article 9. To see if the town will vote to raise and appro- priate money for the support of the Morrill Memorial Library.


Article 10. To see what sum of money the town will raise and appropriate for the use of George K. Bird Post, No. 169, Grand Army of the Republic, for the purpose of decorating soldiers' graves on Memorial Day.


Article II. To see what sum of money the town will raise and appropriate for the support of the Fire Department the ensuing year.

Article 12. To see what sum of money the town will raise and appropriate for the support of the Fire Alarm system the ensuing year.


Article 13. To see what sum of money the town will raise and appropriate to water the streets the ensuing year.


Article 14. To see what sum of money the town will raise and appropriate for lighting the streets the current year.


Article 15. To see what sum of money the town will appro- priate for the support of the schools the ensuing year.


Article 16. To see what sum of money the town will raise and appropriate for conveying children living in the outlying districts to the Norwood schools, and place the same in the hands of the school committee.


Article 17. To see what sum of money the town will raise and appropriate for the expense of children at the Truant School.


Article IS. To see what sum of money the town will raise and appropriate to meet the expenses of the Board of Health.


Article 19. To see what sum of money the town will raise and appropriate to be expended in trimming and care of shade trees, the current year.


Article 20. To see what sum of money the town will raise and appropriate for the prosecution of illegal sale of liquor.


Article 21. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate to defray the incidental and other necessary expenses, not otherwise provided for, the current year.


Article 22. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate for the repairs of high ways, the cur- rent year.

Article 23. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate for building sidewalks and for setting edgestones the current year.


Article 24. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate for paving gutters the ensuing year.


Article 25. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate to be expended in sanding sidewalks during winter months or take any other action in the matter.


Article 26. To see what disposition the town will make of money received as excise tax from street railway companies.


Article 27. To see what disposition the town will make of money received for dog licenses.


Article 2S. To see if the town will vote to raise and appro- priate money for street signs, or take any action in the matter.


Article 29. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate to pay bonds for the Town Treasurer and Tax Collector.


Article 30. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate to be expended in macadamizing streets for the present year.


Article 31. To see what sum of money the town will raise and appropriate for free band concerts.


Article 32. To see if the town will vote to accept Douglas avenue as relocated and laid out by the Selectmen.


Article 33. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate to grade lawns and gravel Pleasant street from Railroad avenue to Neponset street.

Article 34. To see whether the town will vote to amend Section I of Article VI. of the By-Laws, by inserting after the word "annual" in the first line thereof the words "or special," so that said section shall read as follows :


"Section I. These By-Laws may be amended at any annual or special town meeting, an article or articles for that purpose having been inserted in the warrant for such meeting."


Article 35. To see if the inhabitants of the town will vote to authorize the Selectmen of the town, in case any street railway company has heretofore or does hereafter without right or lawful excuse discontinue the use of any track within the limits of this town, and when requested by the Selectmen refuses to operate the same, to petition the Supreme Judicial Court to compel the company to resume the use of such track and to perform all its corporate duties relating thereto, as provided by Chapter 339 of the Laws of 1906.


Article 36. To see if the town will vote to pay the sum of money agreed by the Selectmen with the Trustees of the estate of E. F. Winslow, with interest thereon, for the land taken by the town on December 29, 1905, from said estate for school house purposes, and to raise and appropriate, or borrow money for the same.


Article 37. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate to purchase and install a switch board, storage battery and repeater in the new engine house, or take any other action in the matter.


Article 38. To see what sum of money the town will vote to raise and appropriate to furnish the new engine house and purchase additional fire 'apparatus and horses for use of the department, or take any other action.


Article 39. To see if the town will vote to raise and appro- priate the sum of ($200) two hundred dollars for the appoint-

ment of a school physician by the school committee, in accord- ance with Chapter 502, Acts of 1906.


Article 40. To see if the town will vote to buy tract of land known as Prospect Park, and raise and appropriate or borrow money for the same, or take any other action in the matter.


Article 41. To see if the town will vote to relocate the un- finished sidewalk on Pleasant street between Railroad avenue and Neponset street, changing it to the line of the street estab- lished by the County Commissioners, and making it eight feet wide the whole distance between the two streets, and appro- priate money for the same.


Article 42. To see if the town will widen Pleasant street between the estates belonging to the heirs of Henry Connors and W. F. Tuttle, making the roadbed the same width in that place as it now is at commencement of Neponset street and at Railroad avenue, giving us a street of uniform width between the two streets.


And the polls may be closed as early as four-thirty o'clock in the afternoon of said day.


And you are directed to serve this warrant by posting attested copies in ten public places in this town, seven days at least be- fore the day of said meeting.


Hereof fail not and make due return of this warrant, with your doings thereon, to the Selectmen, on or before the time and day of said meeting.
