ARTICLE 35. Motion by Frank Keegan and unani- mously voted that the town raise and appropriate the sum of for the purchase of a station wagon type cruiser, four door, eight cylinder, equipped with standard heater and all necessary identification for police cruiser.


ARTICLE 36. Motion by Daniel Malone that no action be taken on this article, for the purchase of World War II and Korean War Memorial Monuments. A substitute motion was submitted by Gordon Proal that the town transfer from Surplus Funds


for the purchase of World War II and Korean War Me- morial Monuments, said monuments to be purchased and erected by the American Legion War Memorial Committee on the property of John Edward McNeill Post No. 217, The American Legion, on each side of the World War I Memorial Boulder. A standing vote was called for. Result: Yes 122, No 16.

Clerk, Town Treasurer and two (2) other members to be appointed by the Moderator to investigate the need for an addition to the Town Office Building, and to bring in a re- port at the next Annual Town Meeting. Unanimously voted. Motion by Clarence Skinner, Jr. that a committee of five, consisting of one member of the Board of Selectmen, one member of the Finance Committee, one member of the Board of Fire Engineers and two (2) to be appointed by the Moderator, to study the advisability of establishing a permanent Fire Department and to report such finding at the next Annual Town Meeting. Unanimously voted.


At 11:10 P.M. upon motion by Jay Clough and unanimously voted, the meeting was adjourned.

The Presidential Primary was held in the Elementary School Building Auditorium April 26, 1960.

C. Shall licenses be granted in this town for the sale therein of all alcoholic beverages in packages, so called, not to be drunk on the premises?


The Polls will open from 7:00 o'clock A.M. to 8:00 o'clock P.M.


And you are directed to serve this Warrant by posting up attested copies thereof in not less than seven (7) public places in the town seven (7) days at least before the time of holding said meeting.

PROCEEDINGS OF STATE ELECTION


The State Election was held in the Auditorium of the Plainville Elementary School, November 8, 1960, it being the first Tuesday after the first Monday.


Inspectors: Nellie King (R), Marion McCabe (D), Bertha Thomp- son (R), Francis V. Weaver (D), Milton Ryan (D), Substitute Ann Ryan (D).


The above having been appointed by the Selectmen were duly sworn to their respective duties by the Town Clerk, Austin F. Grant.


Warden and Election Officer: Earl B. Thompson (R).


Deputy Warden: Francis R. McCabe (D).


Clerk: Austin F. Grant, Town Clerk.


Deputy Clerk: Bessie Barton (R).

TOWN OF PLAINVILLE


1960


The ballot box was inspected, found empty and locked and the key turned over to the Police Officer.


The Town Clerk read the call of the meeting, and at 7:00 A.M. the polls were declared open.


At 6:45 P.M., the new ballot box being filled, the second ballot box was inspected, found empty and locked and the key turned over to the Police Officer. At 8:00 P.M. the polls were declared closed. The ballot box registered 1694 votes. At this time the Absentee Voters ballots were checked off the lists and put through the ballot box, making a total of 1738 votes cast.


The following Tellers having been appointed by the Selectmen were sworn to the faithful performance of their duties by the Town Clerk.
