During the past year, the Chairman of the Committee, Seth Mann, 2d., Esq., who has so long and so acceptably served as
37
one of the Committee, having other duties to perform, resigned. Mr. J. S. Littlefield was appointed to fill the vacancy, according to the provisions of law.
In concluding their Report, the Committee would express the hope that the citizens of this town will always manifest a zealous interest in the cause of common schools. That they will ever watch over and sustain them by their appropriations, as the noblest inheritance received from our fathers, and one of the surest mediums of transmitting the blessings of civil and reli- gious liberty to future generations.
BENJAMIN DICKERMAN, JR. ORAMEL WHITE. J. S. LITTLEFIELD.
STETSON SCHOOL FUND.
The Trustees of the Stetson School Fund submit to the town a condensed statement of their receipts and disbursements for the financial year now ending, and report their investments as in last annual exhibit, viz .:-
10 shares Grocers' Bank, Boston, par value, $1,000 00
10 shares Merchants' Bank, Boston, par value, 1,000 00

Making a total of eleven thousand dollars, . $11,000 00
They have, also, as will be seen by account, a cash balance of eight hundred and sixteen and seventeen one-hundredths dol- lars. The Trustees are unable to make any definite statement of the value of the Grocers' Bank stock, but hope the loss will not exceed some seven or eight hundred dollars. The remaining investments have advanced in value since their last report. During the year, Mr. V. H. Deane resigned his situation, and has been succeeded by Mr. A. O. Leavitt, at a salary of $650 for
39
the first year. The school has been as fully attended as at any previous date, and averaged as large as one teacher should superintend.
