REPAIR OF HIGHWAYS.
The work upon the highways has been under the direction of James Riley, Superintendent of Streets.
The expense of building a sidewalk on the northerly side of Union Street exceeded the appropriation, for the reason that when the sum appropriated had been expended, to have discontinued the work would have left the street in an un- safe condition for travel, and the work was completed by the Superintendent, as directed by the Selectmen.
The work upon the highways under the direction of the Superintendent has been performed in a satisfactory manner and we believe with the best results for the money expended.
