RECORD OF THE TOWN MEETINGS,

TOWN MEETING WARRANT.
COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS

NORFOLK, SS. To either of the Constables of the Town of Ded- ham, in said County, Greeting :
You are hereby required, in the name of the Commonwealth aforesaid, to notify and warn the inhabitants of said Town of Dedham, qualified to vote in town affairs, to assemble at Memo- rial Hall, in said town, on the first Monday in March (being the fourth day of said month), A. D. 1889, at seven o'clock in the forenoon, then and there to act on the following articles, namely :
Article One .- To choose a moderator to preside at said meeting.
Article Two .- To see if the Town will choose the Selectmen Surveyors of the Highways, and authorize and instruct them to employ a Superintendent of Highways.
Article Three .- To vote upon the following question : Shall licenses be granted for the sale of intoxicating liquors in the town? The vote on this question is to be by a separate ballot, and the ballot shall be "Yes" or "No" in answer to said question.
Article Four .- To choose all necessary Town Officers. The following are chosen by ballot : Selectmen, Assessors, Overseers of the Poor, Board of Health, Town Clerk, Town Treasurer, Col- lector of Taxes, School Committee, Auditors and Constables. The two School Committee to be chosen for three years each, and all other town officers for such time as the town may direct.
Article Five .- To hear and act on the report of the Auditors of the Treasurer's and Collector's accounts.

Article Six .- To see if the Town will accept the list of Jurors as prepared hy the Selectmen and posted according to law.
Article Seven .- To see if the Town will authorize the Col- lector of Taxes to use the same means as Town Treasurer may use when acting as Collector.
Article Eight .- To see what action the Town will take with reference to the compensation of the Collector of Taxes, as pro- vided in Section 6, Article 3, of the Town By-Laws.
Article Nine .- To hear and act on the report of the commit- tee on the distribution of the interest of the Damon and Draper donations, and choose a committee to distribute the interest the ensuing year.
Article Ten .- To see what sums of money the Town will raise to defray the incidental and other necessary expenses, not otherwise provided for, of the Town for the ensuing year.
Article Eleven .- To see what sums of money the Town will raise and appropriate for the decoration of the soldiers' graves.
Article Twelve .- To see if the Town will accept the gift of the franchise, library and property, real and personal, of the Ded- ham Public Library, upon the condition that the Town will for- ever maintain the same as a free public library, and assume the debts of the Library existing at the time of the transfer.

Article Thirteen .- To see if the Town will raise and appro- priate money for the Dedham Public Library.
Article Fourteen .- To see if the Town will elect a board of nine Trustees for the Dedham Public Library, three for one year, three for two years, and three for three years.
Article Fifteen .- To see if the Town will raise and appro- priate money to keep the cemeteries in Dedham village and West Dedham in repair.
Article Sixteen .- To see what rate of interest the Town will authorize the Collector to charge on all taxes not paid November 1, 1889.
Article Seventeen .- To see what sums of money the Town will raise and appropriate for payment of the salaries of the School Teachers and Superintendent of Schools the ensuing year.
Article Eighteen .- To see what sums of money the Town will raise and appropriate for repairs and care of the school- houses, and for fuel and supplies for the same.

Article Nineteen .- To see what sum of money the Town will raise and appropriate for School stationery and Text-Books.
Article Twenty .- To see if the Town will appropriate the amount received from other towns for scholars attending the pub- lic schools in Dedham, for contingent expenses of the public schools.
Article Twenty-One .- To see what sum of money the Town will raise and appropriate for chemical and physical apparatus and supplies for the High School.
Article Twenty-Two .- To see what sums of money the Town will raise and appropriate for the purpose of providing additional accommodations at the Ames and Avery Schools.
Article Twenty-Three .- To raise and appropriate money for the purpose of providing additional ventilation of, and ways of egress from, the public school-houses of Dedham, as ordered by the Inspection Department of the Massachusetts District Police, in conformity with the provisions contained in Chapters 149 and 426 of the Acts and Resolves of 1888.
Article Twenty-Four .- To see whether the Town will require the County Commissioners of Norfolk County to establish a Tru -. ant School or Truant Schools in this County, or to unite in estab- lishing a Truant School in this County, or in some other County contiguous to this County, in accordance with the provisions con- tained in Section 14, Chapter 48, of the Public Statutes, and the Act amendatory thereof.
Article Twenty-Five .- To raise and appropriate money to pay for water for hydrants and public buildings, required by the contract with the Dedham Water Company.
Article Twenty-Six .- To see what sums of money the Town will raise and appropriate for repairs of highways, sidewalks, and for lumber for the repairs of bridges and railings.
Article Twenty-Seven .- To see if the Town will accept the extension of Dale street to the New York and New England R. R., as laid out by the Selectmen, and raise and appropriate money for the same.
Article Twenty-Eight .- To see what sum of money the Town will raise and appropriate tor repairing the road leading from Needham line to Vine Rock Bridge, so called.
Article: Twenty-Nine .- To see if the Town will instruct the

Selectmen to ascertain and permanently mark the bounds of the strip of land known as the Long Causeway on Needham street, Dedham Island.
Article Thirty .- To see if the Town will repair Ames street in a thorough and proper manner, provide for its drainage, and construct a sidewalk on one or both sides of said street, and ap- propriate money therefor.
Article Thirty-One .- To see if the Town will authorize the Selectmen to raise the grade of East street between High and Washington streets, in such places as may be required to drain the roadway, and to build a sidewalk and construct culverts and drains necessary for the purpose, and raise and appropriate the sum of five hundred dollars for the same.
Article Thirty-Two .- To see if the Town will vote to author- ize the Selectmen to instruct the Superintendent of Streets to pay men employed upon the highways two dollars per day, and that nine hours constitute a day's work.
Article Thirty-Three .- To see if the Town will vote to pur- chase a Stone Crusher, with power to operate it, for use upon the highways.
Article Thirty-Four .- To see if the Town will raise and ap- propriate money to build the street from the railroad bridge to Washington street, as laid out, or to be laid out by the County Commissioners.
Article Thirty-Five .- To see if the Town will vote to build a reservoir in front of the store of Charles H. Ellis, on High street, West Dedham, and raise and appropriate money for the same.
Article Thirty-Six .- To see if the Town will vote to take measures to ascertain the best methods of draining the Wigwam Meadows.
Article Thirty-Seven .- To see if the Town will raise and ap- propriate the sum of one hundred dollars, to be expended in aid of the library at West Dedham, and for the purpose of maintain- ing a room for a library and reading.
Article Thirty-Eight .- To see if the Town will vote to furnish a circular iron fountain for watering horses, to be located oppo- site the Dexter School House, and raise and appropriate money for the same.
