In Memoriam

LENA M. SCHUSTER

On October 28, 1962, the Town of Doug- las lost a gracious, kind and valued citizen in the death of Lena M. Schuster.

She was a graduate of Douglas High School, Class of 1892, and of Mount Hol- yoke College, Class of 1898. She served on the School Committee from 1912 to 1918 and was a life member of the Board of Trustees of the Public Library for forty years. For many years she served as a purchasing agent for the library.

Her many acts of kindness and charity, her services to the Town in many capacities and her example as an exponent of good government will be long remembered by the citizens of Douglas.

The following poem perhaps best ex- presses her philosophy in life:

Not what we take, but as we give.

Not as we pray, but as we live.

These are the things that make for peace,

Both now and after time shall cease.
