Telephone and Telegraph Company, a corporation organized and Existing under and by virtue of the bands of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts which petitions --


That the said Massachusetts Telephone and Telegraph Company maybe granted by your Honorable body the right and authority to Forth with erect, and maintain in the said Town of Westborough and upon the following streets and highways of said town, to wit: Nourse Street from Grafton Town line to W. Main Street: West Main Street from Nourse Street to Eli Whitney Street: Eli Whitney Street from 11. Main Street to Ruggles Street: Ruggles Street from. Eli Whitney Street To Bowman Street: Bowman Street from Ruggles Street to South Street: South Street from Bowman Street to Hopkinton Spring Road: Hopkinton Spring Road from South Street to Hopkinton Town line such poles with wires thereon, as may be necessary to enable your petitioner to carry on in said streets and in the said Town of Westborough its business, to wit :- the transmission of intelligence by electricity, by telephone and telegraph, with full power to dig up and open the ground in said streets and highways, so far as it may be necessary to accomplish the purposes of your petitiones for which this helitill is brought. The Board of Selectmen of the Town of Westborough Country of Worcester and Commonwealth of Massachuse acting upon the above petition of the massachusetts Telephone and Telegraph Company Dec. 28-1899 presented and filed with the said Board, petition ing for the right to erect, operate and maintain a line of protes with wires thereon upon and along certain streets and highways in the said Town of Westborough, now directs that the following writing of consent be directed to the Petitioner, and hereby grants to the massachusetts Telephon and Telegraph Company, its successors and assign the right to Erect, construct, operate and maintain its line of telephone and telegraph, including the necessary holes, wires, fixtures, etc., upon and along the following highways of said town, to wit :- Nousse Street from Grafton Town line to W. Main Street West main Street from Nouse Street to Eli Whitney Street: Eli Whitney Street from West main Street to Ruggles Street: Ruggles Street from Eli Whitney Street Lo Bowman Street: Bowman Street from Ruggles Street to South Street: South Street from Bowman Street to Hopkinton Spring Road: Klopkington Spring Road from South Street to Hopkington Town line upon the following specifications and conditions, to wit :- That all holes shall be reasonably straight, of good sound cedar or chestnut, so located that the public use of the highway shall not be interfered with. a flow- of water in ditches or drains interrupted, or Entrance or gateways obstructed there by


That wherever and lines are established the hole Shall be set immediately inside there of, and at al points located under the supervision of the Board of Selectmen. That any pole erected hereunder shall be re-located by said Company for. reasonable cause, upon written request of the said Board after opportunity is givensa Company to be heard.

Commonwealth, that at a legal meeting of the Inhabitants of said Town qualified to vote in elections and town affairs duly warned and notified holder upon the seventeenth days of May a.D. 1899 the warrant for said meeting contained an article in regard to a mending section two of its By-Laws regarding the time at which the Ball shall be showed at the


annual town meeting, as more full ofstars bya copy of said article in the certificate of the Re hereto annexed. Under said article it was voted "That the town by- laws be amended by striking out the word eight in the third line of section 2 and
