THE FORTY-SECOND ANNUAL REPORT

OF THE

TRUSTEES OF TAFT PUBLIC LIBRARY

The second year in our new library home has shown con- clusively how greatly the town was in need of suitable quarters for carrying on its work. The additional room and better light have added greatly to the efficiency of our library. The circula- tion has increased the past year over 20 per cent., yet fiction has only increased 18 per cent.

Early in the year it seemed expedient to have the library open twice a week. This has proved so successful that it will be continued.

Again we have been called on to change our librarian. We have been fortunate in securing the services of Mrs. Helen H. Hemond, who has shown herself well qualified to carry on the work which is becoming increasingly arduous each year. We would ask for a careful consideration of her report.

The Library is a great part of the life of our town. We should put forth every effort to make more valuable this, institu- tion of which we are all so justly proud.

Respectfully submitted,

HERBERT J. GEORGE, Chairman, EDWARD F. BLOOD, Secretary, LENA W. GEORGE, G. H. PICKARD.
