REPORT OF FIRE ENGINEERS.
TO THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN, GENTLEMEN :-
At a Special Meeting of your Board August 11, 1925 the undersigned were appointed Engineers in persuance of a vote of the Town August 1, 1925. On August 12 your Engineers met and organized as follows :
George M. Aldrich, Chief, Raymond L. Daley, Assistant Chief, and Wm. A. Barry, Clerk.
Your Engineers at once went to work to organize a fire company. The following public spirited young men were chosen and entered into the work with a will and vigor worthy of all commendation :
Chester C. Shattuck, Kinsley Barnes, Roy A. Barrows, Norry Daige, Harold C. Barrows.
Harold Lowell,
It became necssary to make changes in the Fire House on account of changes in equipment. A chimney had to be built. Storm windows put on. A coal bin made. Locker and Stove sup- plied. Likewise a thorough renovation given the building in order that the apparatus housed would be at all times ready to function.
We herewith take pleasure in publicly thanking all those, who, by material assistance and counsel assisted your Engineers in the duties undertaken by them.
In order that the Town might more readily get a re-rating of insurance rates and that the citizens in general be benefited thereby your Engineers after consulting with some of the lead-
44
ing citizens deemed it wise to take advantage of an offer made by a leading concern manufacturing Fire Sirens to install a Siren on two months' trial free of cost.
Considering the advantage such a signal would be to the school children during inclement weather (as a no school warn- ing) besides the time saved in case of fire, your Engineers strongly recommend its purchase.
Your Engineers desire it to be known that they will gladly receive suggestions with a view to improving the deparment in any way and that visitors are welcome to inspect the Fire House and Equipment.

FORTY-FIFTH ANNUAL REPORT
OF THE
TRUSTEES TAFT PUBLIC LIBRARY.
It is very gratifying to note that our library is becoming more and more each year, a place of service. It is not only looking after the interests of individuals who come there from week to week, it is going further, it is interesting our children by furnishing the proper material to arouse their minds and surround them with a true educational atmosphere.
The grounds about the building have been thoroughly cleaned and the lawn newly seeded. We would ask the hearty co-operation of our townspeople that the place may be kept at- tractive.

Tuesday afternoons during the summer some of the children cut out pictures from old magazines at the Library. These were pasted in scrapbooks and may be taken home by the children for one week. These are enjoyed by the small children who cannot read but like to look at pictures.
51
Due to the teachers, the High School pupils have used the library much more this year than in the past few years. This is very gratifying and the librarian is only too glad to help all. A dozen books at a time are loaned to the Grammar School teacher for the use of the pupils.
$26.82 was received in fines during the year.
Respectfully submitted,
