Article 4. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Town Treasurer with the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow money from time to time in anticipation of the revenue of the financial year beginning January 1, 1937, and to issue a note or notes therefor, payable within one year, and to renew any note or notes as may be given for a period of less than one year in accordance with Section 17, Chapter 44, General Laws. On Motion it was so voted.


Article 5. To raise such sums of money as may be nec- essary to defray the Town charges for the ensuing year, and make appropriation for the same. On Motion it was so voted.


Article 6. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate the sum of $1,000.00 to finish West St., providing the State will grant $2,000.00 and the County $1,000.00.


Moved that the Town raise and appropriate a sum equivalent to one quarter of the sums granted by State, County, and Town such sum not to exceed One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00), to finish West Street. It was so voted.


Article 7. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate the sum of $2,625 to widen North Elm Street from Copeland Street in the direction of Elm Square pro- viding that the State will grant $5,250 and the County $2,625.


Moved the Town raise and appropriate a sum equiva- lent to one quarter of the sums granted by State, County, and Town, such sum not to exceed $2,625, to widen North Elm Street from Copeland Street in the direction of Elm Square. It was so Voted.

Article 8. To see if the Town will vote to accept Hill- side Avenue as laid out by the Selectmen, with provision as required by the Selectmen. By Petition. It was so voted.


Article 9. To see if the Town will vote to establish a road machinery fund to which shall be credited all receipts received for the use or rental of road machinery purposes or take any action in relation thereto. It was so voted.


Article 10. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate the sum of $200.00 to establish a road machinery account for the purpose of repairing and operating road machin- ery. On Motion it was so voted.


Article 11. To see if the Town will vote to finish and tarvia-top Crescent Street from John Peterson's to West Street and raise and appropriate money for same. By Petition. Moved to pass this article. So Voted.


Article 12. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate the sum of $2,000.00 to build a sidewalk on Mat- field Street from North Main Street, easterly as far as appropriation will permit. By Petition.

Article 13. To see if the Town will vote to build a tarvia- top road on Bryant Street and raise and appropriate the sum of $600.00. By Petition.

Article 14. To see if the Town will vote to install eight street lights on Crescent Street and raise and appropriate a sum of money for the same. By Petition.

Article 15. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate the sum of $367.50 to pay for gravel used on Sand or Turnpike Street in 1935-1936 by the Public Works Division of the State.

Article 16. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate $1,000 to purchase 4-inch pipe and fittings to extend water on South Street from Lester Charnock's to home of Walter Crowley, providing W. P. A. will furnish labor cost. By Petition.

To see what amount the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the use of Plymouth County Trustees for County Aid to Agriculture (Plymouth County Extension Service) and choose a Town Director as pro- vided in Sections 41 and 42 of Revised Chapter 128 of the General Laws and act thereon.

Article 18. To see what action the Town will take for the disposal of the abandoned Matfield School Building.

Article 19. To see what action, if any, the Town will take regarding petitioning the Legislature to be relieved from the Civil Service requirements now governing our Police Force.

Article 20. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate the sum of $500.00 for the pruning of dead wood from the elms and for the removal of any dead or dying elms on the public Streets.


It was so voted.


Article 21. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate $200.00 to replace the flag pole at Elm Square.

Article 22. To see if the Town will vote to purchase a new Fire Truck, Triple Combination, and raise and ap- propriate the sum of $3,500.00 for the same.

Moved that the Moderator appoint a committee consist- ing of four citizens and the Fire Chief to purchase same. That this committee shall advertise for bids on a standard type of commercial chassis; that at least three bids shall be submitted and the purchase made from the lowest bid submitted.

Article 23. To see if the Town will vote to establish a Call Station for the Fire and Water Departments, includ- ing maintenance under supervision of the Selectmen.


Moved that the Town, under the supervision of the Se- lectmen establish a Call Station for the Fire and Water Departments, and raise and appropriate the sum of $120.00 to complete the cost of maintenance.

Article 24. To see if the Town will vote to appropriate from Water Surplus Revenue the sum of $2,000.00 to replace 2-inch pipe with six-inch pipe as directed by Commisioners.

Article 25. To see if the Town will vote to raise and ap- propriate the sum of $252.05 to pay Land Damage on River Street.

To see if the Town will vote for the appoint- ment of a committee of three, by the Selectmen, for the purpose of drawing up a set of building rules and regula- tions and to present them at the next Regular or Special Town Meeting to be held for adoption or rejection. These rules and regulations, if so adopted, to become a part of the By-laws of the Town. It was so voted.


Article 30. To see if the Town will vote to transfer to Surplus Revenue the following balance in the School De- partment: Centre School Sanitation Account, $69.68.

ABSTRACT FROM CHAPTER 46 OF THE GENERAL LAWS OF MASSACHUSETTS


Sec. 3. Physicians and midwives shall, within forty- eight hours after the birth of every child in cases of which they were in charge, mail or deliver to the clerk or regis- trar of the city or town In which the birth occurred, a no- tice stating the date and place of the birth giving the street number if any, color and the family name. They shall within fifteen days after the birth, mail or deliver to the clerk or registrar of the city or town in which the birth occurred, a report of the birth, stating the date and place, the name, if any of the child, its sex and color, and the names, ages, places of birth, occupations and residences of the parents, giving the street number, if there be any, and the number of the ward in the city, the maiden name of the mother, if the full return is not made within forty- eight hours.


The fee of the physician or midwife shall be twenty-five cents for each birth so reported. A physician or midwife who neglects to report each birth within forty-eight hours or fifteen days thereafter, shall for each offence forfeit a sum not exceeding twenty-five dollars.


Sec. 6. Parents, within FORTY DAYS after the birth of a child, and every householder within FORTY DAYS after a birth in his house, SHALL cause notice thereof to be given to the CLERK of the city or town in which such child is born.


The facts required for record, as stated in section 3, shall, so far as known or obtainable, be included in every notice given under the provisions of this section.


Section 8. A parent, or other person who, by section 6, is required to give, or cause to be given, notice of a birth or death, who neglects to do so for TEN DAYS after the time limit therefor, shall forfeit not more than five dol- lars for each offence.


Section 24. The Town Clerk shall furnish blanks for re- turns of births to parents, householders, physicians and midwives who apply therefor.
