acquire, for the purpose of a public playground or recreation centre the parcel of land situated within the Town and bounded and described as follows:
Beginning at a point on the northeasterly side line of Eastern Avenue, said point being 119.60 feet southeasterly of a stone bound at the point of intersection of said north- easterly side line of Eastern Avenue and the northwesterly side line of Grand View Road, thence northeasterly a dis- tance of 495.75 feet to a point at the division line between lots owned now or formerly by Mary E. Rogers and Susan R. Romney, thence southeasterly by a stone wall distances of 40.05 feet, 79.58 feet and 1,015.75 feet respectively to a junction of the stone walls on the division line between land now or formerly of Maria Irwin and Mary H. Teel, et al, thence southwesterly by a stone wall a distance of 467.35 feet to the northeasterly side line of Eastern Avenue, thence northwesterly on said northeasterly side line of Eastern Avenue a distance of 941.98 feet to the point of beginning, containing approximately 481,090 sq. ft. as shown on a plan on file at the Registry of Deeds, Cambridge, Mass., Book 28, page 245 entitled : "Plan of Land in Arlington, scale 50 feet to an inch, Dec. 24, 1912, C. H. Gannett, C. E";
That for the purpose of such purchase, taking or acqui- sition the sum of thirty-three thousand eight hundred twelve and 50/100 ($33,812.50) dollars be and hereby is appropriated and that said sum be taken from the unex- pended balance of the appropriation made for public welfare by vote passed under Article (4) of the Warrant for the annual meeting of this year; that said appropriation hereby made be expended under the direction of the Board of Park Commissioners; and that the powers conferred by Section fourteen of Chapter forty-five of the General Laws with respect to said playground or recreation centre, shall be ex- ercised by said Board.

property, and after it becomes the property of the Town of Arlington, it shall be turned over to the United States Gov- ernment for defense purposes for the duration of the war.

Voted: That the Town Treasurer be and hereby is auth- orized to act as Collector of Taxes. This authorization shall take effect upon the qualification of the Town Treasurer elected at the annual meeting for the election of Town Offi- cers in the year 1942 and shall extend to all succeeding Town Treasurers until the Town shall otherwise vote.
There being no further business under Article 17 the Moderator declared it disposed of.
Article 18 taken up. (Discontinue the Election of a Tree Warden.)

Gentlemen :
We beg to submit our report for 1941 :
On January 1st the Board appointed Assistant Regis- trars to take a census of all persons in the town twenty years of age and over. The List was duly prepared and printed according to law, with clerical assistance from the Civil Service and Town's unemployment roll.
In February the Board held nine afternoon and evening sessions for registering voters prior to the Town Election, at which. time 117 persons qualified to appear on the voting list.
Below is a list of the number of voters in each of the fourteen precincts, showing a total of 22,648 registered voters as of February 19th.
