and hereby is appropriated for the laying and construction of a water main supply line for the purpose of connecting the projected Turkey Hill pressure water main of the Met- ropolitan District Commission with the town's water main supply line at Old Middlesex Path.
Note: The recommendation of $30,000.00 is based on cost of material at $10,000.00 and labor at $20,000.00. This would allow labor at approximately $5.40 a foot (3,700 feet) and labor and material at approximately $8.10 a foot. It is the opinion of outside engineers that the amount recommended is sufficient. Also, in referring to previous Town Reports covering extensions of various Public Works Department projects, it would appear that the amount recommended would be adequate.

Voted: That the Joint Board of Selectmen and Board of Public Works be and hereby is authorized and empow- ered on behalf of the Town, to purchase or take by eminent domain or otherwise acquire, easements in land adjoining the location of ways, the laying out of which is accepted at this meeting, consisting of the right to have the land of said locations protected by having the surface of such ad- joining land slope from the boundaries of said locations; that for this purpose the sum of fifteen hundred (1,500) dollars be and hereby is appropriated ; said sum to be raised by general tax and expended under the direction of said Joint Board.
