VOTED : That payment to the County of Middlesex of amounts assessed upon or otherwise payable by the Town under Warrant issued by the County Commissioners in accordance with Chapter 500, Section 1, of the Acts of 1943: (A) the Town's share of the mainte- nance, operation and repair of Middlesex County Tuberculosis Hos- pital during the last preceding calendar year, including interest on temporary notes issued therefor, in accordance with sections of Chap- ter 111 of the General Laws applicable thereto; (B) the Town's share of any and all other expenses in connection with said hospital, including expenses under section 25G (6) (a) of Chapter 32 of the General Laws inserted by Chapter 400 of the Acts of 1936; be and hereby is authorized, ratified and confirmed.

ADJOURNED ANNUAL TOWN MEETING, MARCH 18, 1953
Pursuant to the vote of adjournment of March 16, 1953, and written notices sent by mail by the Town Clerk, the town meeting members met in the Town Hall on Wednesday evening, March 18, 1953, to act upon the remaining articles set forth in the Warrant for the Annual Town Meeting.
Lists of the duly qualified town meeting members were used at the entrances of the meeting place and were in charge of Philip T. Robinson and James E. Sweeney. The lists contained the names of two hundred forty-two (242) town meeting members.
The check lists filed with the Town Clerk at the close of the meeting showed that one hundred ninety-one (191) members and twelve (12) members-at-large attended the meeting.
The meeting was called to order by the Moderator, Mr. Harold E. Magnuson, at 8 :10 o'clock P.M.
The meeting was opened with the singing of "The Star Spangled Banner" by the assembly, accompanied by Mr. Augustus Mazzocca and Mr. Walter E. Russell of the School Department, and prayer offered by Rev. Oscar R. O'Gorman, Pastor of St. Agnes' Church.
The town meeting members who had not previously been sworn were thereupon sworn by the Moderator.
On motion of Selectman Kenney, duly seconded, it was
VOTED: That if all the business of the meeting as set forth in the Warrant is not disposed of at this session, when the meeting ad- juorns, it adjourn to Friday evening, March 20, 1953, at 8 o'clock.
Article 15. (Increase - Salaries or Wages. )
VOTED : That no action be taken under Article 15 of the War- rant.

Article 16. (Step-Rate Increases - Fire Department. )
On the substitute motion of James W. Donahue of Precinct 3 to amend the motion of the Finance Committee, which was seconded and was declared by the Moderator to have carried on a roll call vote, 99 in favor, 94 opposed, it was
VOTED: That the Town Meeting vote to recommend to the Fire Appointing Authority that the period of time between step-rate increases be reduced, so that maximum pay will be received at the end of two years service.

VOTED: That the provisions of Chapter 781 of the Acts of 1951, being "AN ACT RELATIVE TO INCREASING THE AMOUNTS OF PENSIONS AND RETIREMENT ALLOWANCES PAYABLE TO CERTAIN FORMER PUBLIC EMPLOYEES", be and hereby is ac- cepted; and that the sum of two thousand two hundred (2,200) dollars be and hereby is appropriated for expenses in carrying out the purposes of said Act; said sum to be raised by general tax and expended under the direction of the Board of Selectmen.

Article 19. (Acceptance of Chapter 624 of the Acts of 1952, Re-Pensions, Retirement Allowances and Annui- ties. )
