Article 87. (Appropriation -- Peirce School Playground.)
VOTED: That no action be taken under Article 87 of the Warrant.
There being no further business under Article 87, the Moderator declared it disposed of.
Article 88. (Acceptance of a Gift of Land.)
VOTED: That the Town of Arlington does accept a gift to the Town from John Doherty of a parcel of land at the northwesterly corner of Oakledge Street and Bow Street.
Said land is bounded and described as follows:
Beginning at the point of intersection of the southwesterly side line of Oakledge Street and the northerly side line of Bow Street, thence westerly on said northerly side line of Bow Street, a distance of 18.0 feet to a point, thence northeasterly, northerly and northwesterly through land now or formerly of Doherty on a curve to the left with a radius of 9.0 feet a distance of 20.0 feet to a point on the southwesterly side line of Oakledge Street, thence southeasterly on said southwesterly side line of Oakledge Street, a distance of 18.0 feet to the point of beginning and containing 90 square feet.
There being no further business under Article 88, the Moderator declared it disposed of.
Article 89. (Reconstruction of Roadway at Corner of Oakledge and Bow Streets.)
VOTED: (Unanimously) That the sum of eleven hundred fifty (1,150) dollars be and hereby is appropriated for the widening, the construction of the sidewalk and the curbing, and the reconstruction of the roadway at the northwesterly corner of Oakledge Street and Bow Street; said sum to be raised by general tax and expended under the direction of the Town Manager.
There being no further business under Article 89, the Moderator declared it disposed of.
Article 90. (Advertising Town By-Laws.)
The Finance Committee recommends the passage of the following vote:
VOTED: (Unanimously) That the sum of four hundred eighty five (485) dollars be and hereby is appropriated for the purpose of defraying the expense of advertising and other costs relating to the By-Laws voted at this meeting; said sum to be raised by general tax and expended under the direction of the Town Clerk.

Article 91. (Ornamental Lighting -- Christmas Holiday Season.)
VOTED: (Unanimously) That the sum of four thousand (4,000) dollars be and hereby is appropriated for the purpose of providing ornamental and additional light to the Town during the Christmas Holiday Season; said sum to be raised by general tax and expended under the direction of the Town Manager.

VOTED: That in accordance with Chapter 40 Section 9 under the General Laws of Massachusetts, as amended by Chapter 409 of the Acts of 1946, the sum of nine hundred (900) dollars be and hereby is appropriated for the purpose of providing headquarters for the "Lt. Stanley G. Benner Detachment, Marine Corps League of Arlington"; and that said sum be raised by general tax and expended under the direction of the Board of Selectmen.
There being no further business under Article 92, the Moderator declared it disposed of.
Article 93. (Headquarters for Arlington Post 1775, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Inc. of the United States.)
By consent of the meeting, the motion of the Finance Committee as appearing in its printed report was considered withdrawn, and on the new notion of Mr. Kermit C. Streng, Chairman of the Finance Committee, duly seconded, it was

Article 94. (Addition to Stabilization Fund.)

Article 95. (Appropriation of Available Funds.)
VOTED: That the sum of four hundred thousand (400,000) dollars voted for appropriations heretofore made under the Warrant for this meeting, and not to be borrowed or to be taken from available funds or from balances of special appropria- tions made in other years, shall be taken from any available funds in the Treasury; and that the Assessors be instructed touse free cash in the Treasury in any available funds to that amount in the determination of the 1960 tax rate.

Arlington, April 22, 1960
By virtue of this Warrant I have notified and warned the legal voters of the Town of Arlington to meet at the time and places and the purposes herein specified by causing a printed attested copy of said Warrant to be left at every dwelling house in the Town previous to said day of the meeting for the election of candidates of political parties and by posting an attested copy of said Warrant at the doors of the Town Hall and in five or more conspicuous places in each of the fourteen precincts of the Town, seven days at least before said day of said meeting. A notice of the time, places and objects of the meeting was published in the local papers.

In pursuance of the foregoing Warrant, the inhabitants of the Town of Arlington qualified to vote in primaries met in the polling places designated by the Board of Selectmen for the several precincts in 'said Town on Tuesday, April 26, 1960, at 12 o'clock noon.
Upon receipt of the returns as made by the election officers of the several precincts, the Town Clerk, assisted by the Registrars of Voters and Assistant Regi- strars of Voters, forthwith canvassed the same and announced the results at 1 o'clock P.M. on Wednesday, April 27, 1960, as follows:
