Report of the ballot in the First Precinct of Boxford November 6th 1888
At a legal meeting of the legal Voters of the first precinct of the town of Buford, held in the Vestr of the first parish church in said town on Ines day the Sixth day of November 1888 for the purpose of giving in their votes for Presidential Electors, Governor, O Lieutenant Governor of the Common- wealth Secretary, Treasurer, Anditor and Attorney General, Also for a Councilor for the fifth Dis- trick, For a Senator for the fifth Essex District- For Register of Probate and insolvency, For County Commissioner For County Treasurer, Register of deeds in the Southern Essex district and Representative to the General Court from the seventh Representative district, Allon one ballot Tica The polls were opened at ten o'clock and closed at two o'clock. Before opening, the ballot box was opened and exposed to the public view and shown to be empty and immediately locked and the key placed in the hands of Constable A. H. Towne.

Prinsavant to the Warrant the inhabitants of Precinct Two (2) qualified to vote as the law directs, assem bled at the time and place and for the purpose therein expressed-
At (10) ten o'clock A. M. the Warrant calling the Investing was read by the Warden Who then publicly offered the ballot box and the same having been personally examined by the election Officers and the public: was found to be empty. The ballot boy was immediately locked the register indicating 000 and the key of the box wastaken and retained by Charles R. Anderson the Constable in attendance.
The Warden then called upon the inhabitants of said Precinct qualified by law to vote, to give in their ballots for the purposes expressed in said Warrant.

The ballot box remained locked while the halls were open.
At two o'clock and eight minutes P.M. (2 O'clock and 8 minutes) the polls were closed, the ballot box was found to register Seventy three (73) the ballot box without being removed from the public view, was there opened by the Warden the ballots were there from and publicly counted one by one and the Warden publicly announced the whole number to be Seventy three (73) The Precinct Officers there proceeded to count the number of votes received by each person voted for, with the following results viz:
