Boxford Nov. 8 1892. Pursuant to the foregoing warrant the inhabitants of Precinct two 2, qualified to vote as the law directs. assembled at the time and place and for the purpose therein expressed. At (10) ten O clock A.M. the warrant calling the meeting was read by Precinct Clerk who then publicly opened the ballot box and the same having been personally exam. ined by the election officers and the public, was found to be empty. The ballot=box was immediately locked, the register indicating 000, and the key of the box was taken and retained by Charles F. Austin the Constable in attendance. The Precinct Clerk then called upon the inhabitants of said Precinct qualified to vote, to give in their ballots for the purpose expressed in said warrant. The Ballot box remained locked while the polls were open. At two O'clock and forty minutes P.M. the polls were closed. The ballot-box was found to register seventy four 14. The Officers in charge of the check- list, in the presence of the other officers and the public counted in a distinct and audible voice the names checked on said list, and announced the whole number to be seventy four 74. The ballot box was then opened by the warden, without being removed from the public view, the ballots taken therefrom and audibly count ed one by one and the Precinct Clerk publicly annown ced the whole number to be seventy-four 74. The precise Officers then proceeded to count the number of votes received by each person voted for with the following result.

That the action of last year in regards to the compen sation of Town Officers shall be adopted this year as follows The Treasurer and Collector shall receive one hun- dred dollars. The Road Commissioners shall be paid two dollars a day while in actual service. The pay for the men whom they employ to work on the roads, and for the teams and implements to be used therear shall be hard at the same rate as was paid last year, as follows.


For a man fifteen cents an hour while in actual service, and for a yoke of open twenty cents an hour, and for a flow a cart and on shore, five cents an hour for each one .


And while pathing snow, a man shall be allowed Twenty cents an hour and for a yoke of oxen, twenty cents an hour and for a pair of horses thirty cents an hour .

shall be allowed for a single house twenty cents an hour and for a pair of horses thirty cents an hour.


That all other bills shall be allowed by the Selectmen, except their own bills for services rendered to the Town; these bills must be brought before the Town to be allowed.


And it is further moved that the Road Commissioners shall at the end on close of each months work, hand in to the Selectmen a detailed account of all the workdone on the roads during the month, how many men were employed the amount paid to each man; also the amount of money paid for repairs on the Road Machine, and all other matters needed in a detailed account. And the Road Commissioners shall not expend more money than the Town has appropriated. for them until they consult the Selectmen and get their permission to do so.

Shall licenses be granted for the sale of intoxicating Lignors in this Town the ensuing year.


The register of the Ballot Box when the first balist was presented, indicated 000 and the Ballot Box was empty. At the close of the voting the register on the Ballot Box, indicated 45 votes, and the checklist


indicated 47 rotes. When opening the Ballot Box it was found to contain 47 votes. The register attached to the Ballot Box had failed to record 2 votes that was cast.


The ballots were sorted, counted and declared as follows (yes 7) - (No 40)


That the action relative to supplying Final for the Town Schools shall be the same as last year.

To accept Mr. Stephen K. Fowler's resolutions which are as follows.


Whereas Frederick A. Howe, of the East Parish in Boxford, has for four years(1889.1890.1891.1892.) served as Clerk of the town of Boxford with singular fidelity and success, and Whereas, Mr. Howe declined to allow the use of his name for reelection.


Resolved, that the Town of Boxford publicly expresses its confidence in Mr. Howe and the deep sense of obligation it is under for his

continued, his patient and persistent efforts which have made the records Models of accuracy and neatness.


Resolved, that these resolutions of respect and approval be transmitted to Mr. Howe in writing by his successor in office.


Resolved, that these resolutions be spread on the records of the town.


Resolved, that the town Clerk of Boxford offer these resolutions for publication in the Georgetown Advocate, And the Salem Gazette.


That the selectmen be instructed to order the laying of the track of the Haverhill and Salem Electric Railway through this Town over the following described highway.


Beginning at the boundary line between Boxford and Georgetown north easterly of the resi - dence of Alvin F. Marden, thence fast the residence of Albert E. Peabody, past the residence of Miss M.g. Perley, past the first Congregational Church to the residence of Elvin French thence past the residence of Solomon W. Howe, past the residence of John s. Dorman, William Goodwin, William H. Shirley and Charles W. Ingalls to the boundary line between Batford and Topsfield.
