At a meeting of the Selectmen March 9th 1718-9 Then ordered Constable Walter Fairfield to procure one half bushell one peck and one 1/2 peck and a pair of scales upon the towns charge and so have them sealed as the law directs.

And on the same day above said sold to David Batchelder the old one half bushell and 1/2 peck that was the towns Standard for 2 shillings which he then paid to the towns treasuer for the towns use

Viz. a list to Constable Walter Fairfield amounting to the sum of eleven pounds three shillings £11 3s Od whereof he is to pay unto the County treasuer the sum of Eleven £11 0s 0d pounds the 3 shillings is towards his gathering the money.
A list to Constable John Porter amounting to the sum of thirteen pounds sixteen shillings and ten pence £13 16$ 10d whereof he is to pay to the Country treasuer the sum of seven pounds twelve shillings and five pence £7 12$ 5ª and he is to pay to our town treasuer the sum of six pounds and four shillings &c. at or before the last of January next after the date hereof that part that belongs to the towns use.
At a meeting of the selectmen of Wenham on November the 6th 1719 then a town rate was completed and commited. unto the constables of our town. Viz.
to Constable John Porter a list was committed to him amounting to fifty seven pound £57 10s to be paid unto our town treasuer at ot before the last day of January next coming after the date hereof and to collect and pay in the sum of 17 cords of wood with Mr. Joseph Gerrish at or before the last day of Febuary next after the date hereoff. And a list committed to Constable Walter Fairfield amount- ing to the sum of forty five pounds eighteen shillings

Eleven pence £45 18$ 11ª and to collect and pay the sum of thirteen cord of wood to be paid in unto Mr. Joseph Gerrish on or before the last day of Febuary next coming after the date hereof.
And the said sum of money is to be brought in unto our town treasuer at or before the last day of January next coming after the date hereof.
there being overpluss in the wood rate committed unto Constable John Porter the sum of 16 foot which is allowed to him towards his collecting at the rate of twelve pence per foot in part pay for collecting rates.
And there being in Constable Walter Fairfields list over- pluss in his list of wood 23 foot which is allowed him in part for his collecting the rates at 12 pence pr. foot for the year ensueing.

At a meeting of the Selectmen March the first day 1719 and 20 William Rogers Theophelus Rix John Gott John Dodge Robert Cue Ebenezer Kemball Setphen Patch John Moulton John Kemball William Dodge Phineas Dodge Nathaniel Fairfield Ebenezer Fisk and Thomas Tarbox all appeared and were sworn all of them to the respective offices that each of them are chosen unto as above. And at a meeting of the Selectmen April 4th 1720 then Joseph Edwards was sworn to the office he was choosen to.

Then sign'd a rate that was made on March 22nd 1719/20 two lists one of them is committed to Constable John Gott amounting to the sum of £21 12s 9d which he is to pay in unto our town treasuer at or before the last of June 1720.
And another list amounting to the sum of £18 16$ 10d to Constable John Gott which he is to pay in unto our town treasuer at the same time above mentioned as mentioned in the warrants annexed to them.
Wenham March 29th 1720 Received of Mr. Theophelus Rix treasuer for the town of Wenham for the year 1718. I say received by me the sum of sixty pounds for Salary in full for the year 1718.

At a legal town meeting duely warned and convened on this 28th day of April 1720 Ensign John Gott chosen Rep- resentative for this year.

Thomas Fisk chosen moderator for this meeting. 2nd the question being put to the town wether they will allow Mr. Joseph Emerson the sum of ninety pounds in passable money or in bills of credit yearly and a free con- tribution weekly so long as he shall be our minester in our town and it passed on the affirmative.
3rd The question being put to the town wether they will put in the sum and name and it passed on the negative for to vote for a Salary for Mr. Joseph Emerson.
4th it was put to the town wether the town would allow one hundred pounds for the settlement of Mr. Joseph Emerson in our town and to be paid within two years next coming after the date hereof and it passed in the affirmative. 5th Voted to have committee to treat with Mr. Joseph Emerson about the matter of his settlement in our town. Between Robert Ward of Charlestown in the county of Middlesex within his magisty's province of Massachusetts bay in New England Clerk on the one part and Thomas Fisk Ephraim Kemball, John Parter Daniel Dodge Benjamin Edwards John Gott and Samuel Kemball the committee chosen in behalf of the town of Wenham in the county of Essex within the province afore said on the other part witneseth That whereas the church of Christ at Wenham being de-

prived of their pastor the reverend Mr. Joseph Gerrish by death have made choice of the sd Robert Ward to succeed in that solemn and weighty charge to which the congrega- tion at said town unanimously concuring ye said Robert Ward does as in the fear and presence of God faithfully promise and engage by divine assistance to attend carry on and discharge all the duties of a gospel minister towards a Church of Christ untill he is by death called to give up his account or some other way disenabled or discharged and they said Thomas Fisk Ephraim Kemball John Porter Daniel Dodge Benjamin Edwards John Gott and Samuel Kemball.
