2 JOHN BRAY, son of the Reverend John Bray. 1, was born Aug. 20th about Son Rifing A.D. 1694, and was buried Feb. 5, 1765, as per Gershom Mott's Diary.
In 1713, he had five hundred acres in the new Indian purchase above the falls of the Delaware.
*1724-5. Mary Whitlock, widow, dying left a sum of money to her grandsons, Andrew and Daniel Bray, which, with money belonging to Peter Bowne, was lent to Thomas Cox. Memorandum from the records of the Baptist Church, Middletown, N. J. From this I deduce the following:
Mary Whitlock, widow of Thornas Whitlock. had issue by Thomas Seabrook. her first husband: Ann Seabrook, who married. first. Andrew Bowne; second, Rev. John Bray.
Anna Seabrook had issue by her first husband: Nehemiah Bowne, born July 6, 1708; married the widow Fisher, who had a daughter Mary Fisher. Peter Bowne, born Oct. 30. 1710; married Deliverance Holmes.
Anna Seabrook had issue by her second husband: Andrew Bray, born July 1, 1713. Daniel Bray, born Mch. 28, 1716.
In the inventory of John Bray's estate, some articles are mentioned as belonging to Anna Bray.
In the Bowne- Bray record there is also the following entry: "Sarah Rufell born to June A. D. 1714," but I know not who she was.

1720, May II. He recorded lus father's cattle mark.
In Jonathan Holmes' Diary we find, "22d April 1737, I was at home it being rayney weather towards evening I went to Jnº Brays James Bray with me to se cocks fight. I lost a penny it being as Large a wager as any then Layed and came home by James and had another battle which was smarter than the other."
In 1761 his lands were assessed in Middletown.
John Bray was a member of the Middletown Baptist Church and was a man of considerable property. He lived on part of the tract of land purchased by his father, and bought ten hun- dred and thirty three acres of land in Kingwood, Hunterdon Co., N. J., where some of his family settled.
He married Elizabeth, daughter of John Bowne, cordwainer, and Elizabeth his wife. 1764, Jan. 7. Will of John Bray, proved July 2, 1765, states that he was of Middletown, and mentions:

4 ANDREW BRAY, son of the Reverend John Bray, I, "was born the first day of July, 1713;" and died July 1789, being struck by lightning one Sunday as he was returning from church. He was baptized Aug. 2, 1739, by the Reverend Abel Morgan.

6 JOHN BRAY, eldest son of John Bray, 2, was baptized by Abel Morgan, June 2, 1739, Baptist Church, Middletown, N. J. He married Catharine His will dated, Kingwood, N. J., August, 1782, was proved Sep. 10, 1783.

7 SAMUEL BRAY, second son of John Bray, 2, was born June 21, 1729, near Bray's Meeting House, Holmdel; died Aug. 25, 1794, aged 65 years, 2 months and 4 days. He married, by license dated Oct. 2, 1753, Rebecca, daughter of Richard and Rebecca (Winter) Apple- gate, of Shoal Harbor, N. J., born Mch. 19, 1730; died Feb. 10, 1810, aged 79 years, 10 months and 24 days.
He lived on the Bray lands near Holmdel, N. J .; is mentioned on the rolls of the Middle- town Baptist Church as a member; was chosen a deacon of that Church May 1769; and he and his wife are buried in the old graveyard at the rear of the "Upper Meeting House."
1761. He was assessed in Middletown, N. J.
"February the 4, 1765, Samuel Bray Dr. [debtor] to a coffin for his father £1. 15. o." [From an old account book].
He was a man of considerable property, a Whig, and left a lengthy will in which he en- tailed some of his lands to his eldest son.

12 DANIEL BRAY, son of James Bray, 3, born Oct. 12, 1751; died at 6.30 A.M .. Dec. 5, 1819; married, by license dated May 2, 1772, Mary Wolverton, both of Hunterdon Co.
He served in the Revolutionary War as "Lieutenant 2nd Regiment Hunterdon, Captain ditto." (Stryker, N. J. Soldiers in the Revolution, page 383.) He was afterwards General in the State Militia.
His family Bible is owned by Miss Lizzie S. Blackwell, 2261 Woodstock Street, Philadel- phia, Pa., and a copy of the same by Mr. Stacy B. Bray, of Lambertville, N. J.

29 SAMUEL BRAY, son of Samuel Bray, 7, born July 21, 1765; died July 29, 1796; married Mary, daughter of Samuel and Anna (Van Brockle) Ogborne, born Oct. 3 (9?) 1766; died Sep. 21, 1831.
He lived on the Bray lands near Holmdel, and was a member of the Baptist Church of that place. He was drowned in Raritan Bay, but his body was recovered and buried in the old graveyard at Holmdel.
After his death, his widow married, second, Stout, son of Samuel and Mary (Stout) Holmes, born July 24, 1756 ; died Jan. 27, 1817; by whom she had issue: Alice Holmes and Lydia Holmes, and then she married, third, Major John Stillwell. She is buried in the old graveyard at Holmdel, by the side of her second husband, Stout Holmes.

35 JAMES BRAY, son of James Bray, S, born May 2, 1772; died Sep. 1, 1810, aged 37 years, 11 months and 29 days. He married Rachel, daughter of Samuel and Anna (Van Brackle) Ogborne, born Nov. 20, 1774; died Feb. 20, 1855, aged So years, 3 months and 15 days. He lived at Red Hill, near Middletown, Monmouth Co., N. J .; and is buried at Holmdel, in the old graveyard. She married, second, Samuel Bent.
