This table can be used for any combination. $65.00 per month for any given number of days Where the amount paid monthly is an even num- would be two times the amount in the $30.00 ber above or under 24, find the amount in the column plus one-half the amount in the $10.00 $24.00 column for the proper number of days column. and multiply or divide 24 accordingly as the monthly amount is a multiple or a fraction of 24.
For instance, $48.00 per month for any given number of days would be just two times the amount shown under $24.00 per month. Again, $36.00 per month would be one and one-half times the amount at $24.00 per month; or, $18.00 per month would be three-fourths of the amount at $24.00 per month.
Where the amount paid monthly is over $35.00, the proper figures can be obtained for a given number of days by combining the amounts for any given number of days in any two or more columns which total the amount paid monthly.

Explanation: A boy works 4 days at $8 per week; find $8 at top of column and 4 days at left, directly under $8 and opposite 4 days is $5.33
For instance, $50.00 per month for any given number of days would be just two times the the amount due the boy. Any combination can amount shown under $25.00 per month. Again, be worked out with this table.

POULTICE.
For thorn, briar or anything in the flesh where a poultice is needed, a cup of butter milk into which is stirred a few spoonfuls of wheat flour and cooked until a thick paste is formed, is good. Apply as hot as possible and change often. Good for a boil also.
TO DETERMINE THE CONTENTS OF CIS- TERNS, TANKS, AND SILOS.
A simple rule for determining the contents of a cistern, circular in form, and of equal size at top and bottom, is the following: Find the depth and diameter in inches, square the dia- meter and multiply the square by the decimal .0034, which will be the quantity in gallons for one inch in depth. Multiply this by the depth, and divide by 3112, and the result will be the number of barrels the cistern will hold.
For each foot in depth, the number of barrels answering to the different diameters, are:
5 feet diameter 4.66 bbls.
6 feet diameter 6.71 bbls.
7 feet diameter 9.13 bbls.
8 feet diameter 11.93 bbls.
9 feet diameter
15.10 bbls.
10 feet diameter 18.65 bbls.
By the rule above given, the contents of barnyard cisterns, manure tanks and silos may be
