CASTLE DALE.


Is the county seat of Emery county, 45 miles from Mt. Pleasant, the near- est banking point, 32 from Price, the nearest shipping point and 160 from


Salt Lake City. It is situated on the Cottonwood creek, which at this point furnishes power for flour and planing mills. It has L. D. S. churches, good system of schools, substantial general stores, good hotels, etc., and a live weekly newspaper, The Emery County Record. As to the resources of this section, wheat and oats constitute the principal farm products and cattle and sheep interests are extensive, but the mineral resources of the county prom- ise to yield the greatest results of any of its interests. A great deal of money is being expended in the development of copper properties, which promise at no distant day to place Emery county in the foremost rank of copper produc- ing districts. Besides the copper in- terests there are extensive fields of high grade coal. Telephone connec- tions with Price, Huntington, Orange- ville and Ferron.
