This cemetery is unkept and badly grown up in briars. We had to get to the graves any which way we could to copy them all, is the reason they are not copied in position as rows run. Received Feb 21 1989 This was taken from an old article from the Gate City Paper printed Thursday, September 18, 1941. It reads as follows.
"Speers Ferry man taken by death H. C. DILLION (HARVEY CLAY) former member of the board of supervisors, buried Wednesday (Sept 17). H. C. DILLION 88 Pioneer resident of the Powell district of Scott Co, died at 12:40 pm Tuesday (Sept 16 1941) at the home of his daughter MRS. ROSA BELLAMY at Woodway, Lee Co. Va. Mr. DILLION was a retired farmer and livestock grower. Served on the board of Supervisors representing the Powell district for four terms of four years each. He was active in the Baptist Church since early manhood. He was a native of Scott Co. His parents were HIRAM RANDOLPH DILLION & MATILDA RIGGS DILLION, both natives of Franklin Co, Va. Surviving are 6 sons, W.R. DILLION of Kingsport, P.J. & R. L. DILLION of Clinchport, & B. J. , H. T. & J. B. DILLION of Weiser, Idaho, four daughters, MRS. ROSA BELLAMY of Woodway, MRS. LINA BEGLEY of Kingsport, MRS. CLARA GILLIAM of Eidson Tn, & MRS. ECHOL SMITH of Duffield, Va. The funeral was at 2 pm Wednesday at the old home place on Clinch River, below Clinchport. The REV. RAN DILLION, REV. NICHOLAS MONEYHUN AND REV. BILLY BARNETT were in charge. Burial was in the DILLION CEMETERY. Friends served as pall & flower bearers."

BOYD, her father, took a drove of hogs to sell in Ky. Never returned home before 1863, when ELIZABETH was born. She never saw her father. It was believed he was robbed & killed at Duffield at the Kane Place as he was returning home. )

LOGAN GIBSON born Apr 8 1876, (md IDA LAWSON Nov 4 1896. She is the dau of JAMES & SARAH JANE LAWSON. IDA LAWSON born Oct 28 1878 & died in Commerce Texas, May 13 1867) They have an infant son buried here also.
(JAMES LAWSON remarried MANERVA HALL. JAMES LAWSON was born Feb 19 1858 and died in Wise Co, and buried there on July 8 1949. He is the son of JOHN LAWSON and ELIZABETH HURD, and grandson of OBEDIAH LAWSON and JANE ENGLAND of Scott & Lee County's. )

MICHAEL McMILLAN born in Wythe County, VA 1848. He is the son of ELIJAH & ELIZABETH DAVIS. He married MARY ANN LAWSON, daughter of JOHN LAWSON & ELIZABETH HURD. They lived in an old log house of JOHN LAWSONS. JOHN had a second wife, SUSAN (called SUCCKI) . They had no issue. JOHN drowned in the Clinch River along with his horse, at the end of Fisher Valley about 1910.
ELIZA McMILLAN born 1892 - died Feb 3 1976, age 83 yrs. She was the daughter of MICHAEL ( "MICK" ) McMILLAN & MARY ANN LAWSON. She was never married.

PHEOBE McMILLAN born Oct 9 1897, died Feb 3 1971, age 73 yrs 4 mo. Dau of the late JIM & DELILAH (PURCELL) ARRINGTON. Married the late PARKEY McMILLIAN Nov 3 1915. Survived by 4 cousins EULOLA BARNETT, ELSIE GOINS, LOIS McMILLAN, OMA MILLER, 3 sons CARL & ROY and late RAY, 2 sisters FLARA GOINS & AGNES HILTON. She was a member of Walnut Grove church. (She was a midwife)
PARKIE McMILLAN born Oct 24 1899, died Apr 7 1962, age 62 yrs 5 mo 17 days. He was a deacon at the Walnut Grove Church. He married PHEOBE ARRINGTON Nov 3 1915. They had 7 children. 4 daughters, EULOLA BARNETTE, ELSIE GOINS, LOIS McMILLAN, OMA MILLER, 3 sons ROY, CARL & RAY. Survived by wife, 7 children 3 sisters, 32 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

Received Feb 21 1989 This is where JACKSON FISHER is buried. He had a Civil War stone, which was the only one there. There was no dates on it, and other filed rocks. The following is from EULA'S family and court records.
JACKSON FISHER married 1st, JANE HURD, and were divorced. He married MARY ANN McMILLAN, a widow of BOYD CARRELL. JACKSON was with his first wife in the 1870 census at age 54. He was born 1816. She is buried here. Their daughter MARY ANN (POLLY) born 1871 or 1872, married CARLOW BURNS. He is buried here also. Also they had DANIEL FISHER born 1873-4 and LYDIA FISHER born July 8 1875 who married JOHN HERD. POWELL FISHER born Feb 1877. Three last children were buried elsewhere. SHADRACK FISHER probably brother of JACKSON married ANN ENGLAND, dau of ANDREW & CATHERINE FISHER. ANN died before 1875 and he got her interest in England. They could be buried here. The old log house was sold and torn down a few years ago.

"Eidson, Tenn. --- JAMES (JIM) WILLARD HURD, 62, Route 1, (Big Springs community), Edison died at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday (May 7, 1986) at his residence of an apparent heart attack.

A native and lifelong resident of Hancock County, he was a farmer and a member of the Big Springs Missionary Baptist Church. He was the son of the late, GEORGE & PEARL LAWSON HURD. He was preceded in death by a brother, G. C. HURD.
Surviving are his wife, MRS. PAROLEE PERRY HURD, Eidson; three daughters, MRS. R.E. (JUNE) SIZEMORE, Eidson, MRS. MARJORIE HICKMAN, Rogersville & MRS. RAYMOND (JAN) EDENS, Clinchport, Va; four sons, JAMES K. HURD & JERRY W. HURD, both of Eidson, Tn, AL HURD, Clinchport, Va and HUGH HURD, Kingsport; five grandchildren; three sisters, MRS. LEONA WILDER, Kingsport, MRS. JEAN BLACKBURN, Lincoln Park, Mich., & MRS. ANN PERRY, Eidson.
(He was born Oct 16 1923 and md PEAROLEE PERRY Nov 20 1944. She died in 1987)
