SMITH CEMETERY - S. Duffield #136
By ROBERT DAVID LANE
Letter dated Oct 18 1992
This is a small cemetery and is located about 1/8 mile off road 753, on the same road that leads to the top of the ridge, and to the RHOTON CEMETERY (Duffield #54).
This small site is located near an old barn and is fenced off to prevent cattle damage .
There were 3-4 stones with names and maybe 2-3 flat stones. The best that I can remember, most all the names were SMITH.
LANE CEMETERY - S. Duffield #137
By PAULA LANE SMITH
By ROBERT DAVID LANE Letter dated Oct 18 1992
"Located on Route 753. Good access roads, fenced, well maintained. Turn left off of Route 600 onto Route 753, go about one mile, turn right across bridge on the Kingdom Road, go about three miles. Cemetery is on the left, on a hill behind the SMITH mobile home. Take gravel road beside mobil home, and follow around the base of the hill, take the first gravel road on the left. The cemetery is on the left." [ PAULA]
"The LANE CEMETERY is located on a knoll just passed the turn off (old logging road that leads to the SMITH and RHOTON CEMETERIES Duffield #47 & #136). It is fenced and is fairly well taken care of. There has been some timbering operations around this cemetery lately and I'm not sure how this has affected the site." [ROBERT]

OLD PEARCY CEMETERY - Duffield Area
By PAULA LANE SMITH
Located on Route 624. Fair access roads, fenced and well maintained. Turn left off Route 600 onto Route 753. Go one mile, turn right over the bridge on the Kingdom Road (Route 753 and 624). Route 624 turns right off of Route 753, going up the hill just after you cross the bridge. This is the end of Route 624, and requires you to walk or a good four wheel drive vehicle. At the top of the first hill, the road splits, take the left fork, and continue on for another two and a half miles, 'till the road forks again. Take the right fork (this forks in a clearing and a road sign tells you that no motorized vehicles are allowed beyond this point). A little over a mile to a two room house with a travel trailer parked behind, cemetery is in the field beside the house.

Visited Mar 7 1988
This cemetery was covered in March of 1979, which is listed in Vol 2 Page 86.
This cemetery is now completely grown over. The stones were very hard to read. A lot of them were limestone that has deteriorated through time. The following is what was found during this visit. This should be compared with the list in Vol 2, page 86. [This is a good example of what time does to these very old cemeteries, and how valuable the coverage of these cemeteries really are in preserving these memories and records: P. PETERSON, compiler]

GOBBLE CEMETERY - S. Clinchport #46 (Location correction and update of Vol 2 Pg 88)
By PHYLLIS L. PETERSON, EULA MAE MCNUTT and LILBERN G. GILLIAM
Visited May 22 1987
This cemetery listed as the KIDD CEMETERY, S. Clinchport #49 in Vol 2 Pg 88 was mislocated. This cemetery is located off Road 65. Take Hwy 23 north of Speers Ferry, turn east on Road 65, go under the bridge, cross over Stock Creek, and immediately turn left and there is a metal gate about 1/4 mile on the right. Open the gate and follow the path going around the mountain that leads to the cemetery . The cemetery is at the top of a good size hill, under a large oak tree. It is badly grown over, some stones down and under the brush. The
property is owned by ADASH RUSSELL.
Only the updates and additions are listed here. The full coverage is in Vol 2 Pg 88-89.
