MORGANTOWN.

With a population of about 11,000, is 102 miles south of Pittsburg, on the Monongahela river, at the head of slackwater navigation, and on the line of the Fairmont branch of the B & O R R, over which through trains are now run from Pittsburg to Wes- ton. The Wabash R R has secured the right of way into the city and has over 2,000 men working in the county. It is the county seat, the seat of the State University and within the past three years has developed into one of the most thriving manu- facturing cities in the state. In Feb- ruary, 1901, the several boroughs forming the town were incorporated into one municipality with a city char- ter. Slackwater navigation is being extended from here to Fairmont by the construction of 6 locks and dams.
