Mrs. Wilson died on June 3 in San Bernardino. She was a resi- dent of California for the past 27 years and born in Yankion. South Dakota. She was a past Noble Grand of the Rebekails in Castana fowa and Compton. California.


She is survived by her daugh- ters, Helen; Rosemond Lyons of Scottsbluff, Neb .: Emma Holmes and Lorraine Olson of San Ber- nardino; a son, L. A. Wilson of Tona Park, Md .; and a daught- er-in-law, Mrs. Evlyn Wilson of Hesperia.

Services were said by Rev. Dale Brown at the Turner Funer- al Home Chapel on June 7, for George William Dunn, 74, of Lake Isabella, who died on June 5 at the Kern Valley Hospital.


Dunn, a retired miner, had lived in the area for the past 15 years and moved from his native state of Texas. 36 years ago.


He and his wife, Ariel lived at Mariner's Trailer and Storage in Lake Isabella.


He leaves his wife, Ariel, two sons, R. L. Dunn of Texas and Grims Dunn of Vista; a daugh- ter, Bernice Krawiek of Fair- field; and three grandchildren. He is also survived by a broker and two sisters. Interment was in the Kern River Valley Dis- trict Cemetery.

HELEN GRACE STUART


Funeral services were said on Friday, June 13, at the Veterans Hall in Lake Isabella by Rev. John Spear, for Helen Grace Stu- art, 66, of Bodfish, who died on June 8 at Physician's Hospital . in Oildale.


Born in New York City on July 18, 1901, Mrs. Stuart had lived in the area for the past four years and in California for 26 years. She and her husband were active members in the 55- Plus Club of the Kern River Valley.


She is survived by her hus- band, Ivan S. Stuart and two sons, Kenneth of Kirkland, Wash- ington; and Edwin of Longview, Washington: a daughter Louise Kielman of Tacoma, Washington: thirteen grandchildren; and two sisters, Lila Adamson of Kern- vale and Edna Clarahan of Se- attle, Washington.


Interment was in the Kern River Valley District Cemetery, Turner Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

INNESS H. GATES


Graveside services were said on June 19, by Rev. Dale Brown, at the Kern Valley District Cemetery for Inness H. Gates, 74, of Kernville, who died on June 16, at the Kern Valley Hospital.


Gates was born in Kansas City, Kansas on January 12, 1895 and had retired afier 32 years with the Los Angeles Municipal Wa- ter and Power Company. He and his widow. Irene had lived in the aren for the past six years.


He leaves his widow, Irene: a son, George Gates of San Ramon; a daughter, Alice Blan- ton of Oxnard and five grand- children.


He was a member of the Dis- abled Veterans of World War 1.


MARY G. CAMPBELL


Services are pending for Mary Gertrude Campbell, 83. of Onyx who died in her home on Wed- nesday. June 25.


Bom in Barnard, Mississippi, on February 14, 1886, Mrs. Campbell moved to the area in 1962 and had lived in California since 1912.


She is survived by two sons, Orian Campbell of Onyx and Otis Campbell of Lexington, Ky. She also leaves five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.


Todd Mortuary in Pomona is in charge of the arrangements.

Mass will be said today, at 9 a.m. at' St. Jude's Catholic Church in Wofford Heights for Ronald Laurende Cisternas, 32, of Los Angeles who died on June 22 in the Southern Inyo Hospital in Lone Pinc.


Cisternas, a native of Weldon, was born on January 19, 1937 and lived in the Los Angeles area for the past five years. He was employed as a body and fonder repairman.


He is survived by his . widow, Laverne and a son, Martin; and daughters, Katherine, Barbara · and LeDonna. He also leaves three brothers, Stanley of Onyx; Kenneth of Kansas; Wayne of Long Beach; three sisters Dor- othy- of Stevinson, California; Madelyn Bratton of Bakersfield and Florence Weldon of Onyx.

Services were said by Rev. Bryan Wilber, on Tuesday, July 1, for Henryetta Abney, 66, of Miracle Hot Springs, who died in Bakersfield on June 27.


Mrs. Abney had lived in the area for the past 12 years and was a former cook at the Camp Owen, boys camp in Kernville in the 1940's. She lived in Kern County for 33 years. She was born in Fowler, Colorado on June 28, 1903. }


She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Lucy Davis of Oklahoma, two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Dodds of Miracle Hot Springs . and Mrs. Melba Waisanen of Los Angeles; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She also leaves three brothers, Tom Ma :- thew's and Elma Davis of Okla- homa and Marshall Davis of Hanford, Calif .; sisters, Muztie Parsley, Mary Rogers, Nora Stites, Ruby Fulton, Bertha Bak- er and Grace Daily of Okla- homa ;. and Myrttie Loftis, of Ar- kansas; and Mildred Pendley of Yukiah.


She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post No. 7665 in Lake Isabella. Interment was in the Hillcrest Memorial Park in Bakersfield.

Services were said on Tues- day, July 1, in Cedar Rapids, lowa. for Mary Krupicka, 76, of Skodie Street, Kernville, who died on June 27 in the Kern Val. Jey Hospital.


Mrs. Krupicka had lived in the arca for the pas: 11 years and was a native n! Czechoslovakia born on April 14. 1893

Funeral services were said on June 24, by Rev. James Wyatt at the Randsburg Methodist Church, for Julius M Behrens. 83. who died at the Kern Valley Hosphal on June 20.


Behrens has been a patient a: Ha Lake View Gues: Home in Wofford Heights for the pas: 71/2 years. He was a retired civilian cmujoyce of the Naval Weapons Center in China Lake and had lived in the county for 37 years. He came to the area in 1932 to mine for gold and also worked the Yellow Aster Mine near Randshurg. He was a member of inc Masons and 'a inember of the American Legion and a veteran of WW I.


He leaves three sons: Charles 1. of Randsbarg; Ralph E. of Ridgecrest; and a step son George Gunderson of Yuba City He also. leaves two brothers and three sisters

Arles was a native of Cold (reek. Tenn. and had been a self employed landscape gard- ner. He had been a resident of the state for the past 49 years, and lived in the area for four months.


He is survived by his widow, Della Ables; a daughter, Gladys Campigina of Santa Barbara; three grandchildren; a sister, Grace Dennis of Long Beach and a brother, Elmer Ables of Rar- tell, Ill.


Pallbearers were: John Brown, Jim Ast., Elwin Vernon, Rex Hart, Lincoln McNecce and Charles Maggs. Banal was in the Kem River Valley District Cemetery An honor guard w a s furnished by the VFW. Valley Mortuary.

Fureral services were held on Tuesday, August 5, by Rev. Dale Brown at the Lake Isabella Bap- fist Church for Wannie Orlene Halverson, 20, of Los Angeles, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nor- man Halverson. of Lake Isabella.


Miss Halverson died in Los Angeles on August 1, and had been employed as a legal sec- rotary for the California State Disability Department in Los Angeles.


She is survived by her parents and one sister, Mrs. Merilyn. Hilsabeck of Glendale.

Rosary was said on Friday. August 8, and funeral services were held at 10 a.m. at the Kern River Valley District Cemetery for Gladys G. Boland, 72, of Kernville, who died on August 7.


Mrs. Boland was born in Lead- ville, Colorado on May 22, 1897 and had lived in California for the past 45 years and in Kern- ville since 1963.

Survivors include a son. James Dawnard of Lake Isabella; two daughters, Harriet Kay of Al- hambra and Ruth Marie Was- com of Midway City: a brother, George Downard of Kansas: 7 grandchildren and 15 great- grandchildren.

Services will be said at the Valley Mortuary Chapel by Rev. Dale Brown, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Lake Isabella, today. September 18, at 2 p.m. for Stanley McHatton, 74, of Lake Isabella, who died on Sep- tember 16, at the Kern Valley Hospital.


McHatton, a former chef at the Silver Saddle in Downey. re- tired to the area 41/2 years ago. He was a native of Guasum, Colorado.


He is survived by his widow. Ethel: two brothers, Edward of Phoenix, Arizona, and Richard of Denver, Colorado: a sister, Ellen Atwood of Denver.

· Frances D. Ertel, 67, wife of Ralph Ertel, River Kern, died October 9 at Kern Valley Hos- pital following almost a year of coronary complications.


She was buried at Mountain View Cemetery, Altadeņa, Oct. 13. Services were held at Lamb Funeral Home, Pasadena.


The Ertels moved to River Kern from Altadena four years ago after his retirement as gen- eral foreman for Pacific Pumps, . Inc., Pasadena.


Besides her husband, Mrs. Er- tel. is survived by a sister, Mrs. Clarence Richmond, Torrance. and three grand children, Stev- en. Tracy and Daniel Ertel, all of Arcadia.

Lola Wagar, Business, Civic Leader, Dies


Lola L. Wagar, 54, well known Kernville business woman and civic leader, dico Saturday (Oct. 25) at St. Luke's Hospital. Pasadena, following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Cecil L. Wagar.


From 1964 until her illness m May she was a partner in the firm of Ola & Lola Bookkeeping & Secretarial Service.


She moved to Kernville in 1963 from Long Beach and was cm- ployed at the James Store until 1964, when she and Mrs. Ola Hutchison formed their book. keeping and office services company.


As an active civiç leader and participant in community affairs The served as secretary and member of the unis of direc. tors of the Kernville Chamber of Commerce.


She was an officer of Kaph Chapter, Order of the Golden Shipper, and was secretary and weasurer of the Community Unmed Methodist Church.


In additon, Mis. Wagar was a member of the supervising com- mitee for the Kern Valley Was munny Cred: Union and a mem- ber of the Kern Valley Business & Professional Women's Club.


She was born in Bennett, Noor., Aug. 20, 19:5.


Besides her husband, she is survived by her father, O. A. Stricker. Denver, Colo .; two sisters, Evelyn Haney, Ridge crest, and Dorothy Ludwig. Den- ver; and a brother, Gayland Stricker, Kansas City, Mo.

Heart Attack Takes Ira Jeffers, Pomona


Ira A. Jeffers, 75 Pomona, was stricken Saturday with an apparent heart attack and was rushed to the Kern Valley Hos. pital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Immediately prior to the attack he was re- ported in good health and bad been fishing Saturday morning. with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Camp: beil, long time friends of Weldon. Services were held Monday (Nov. 3) for Daniel Goosen, 57, Lake Isabella, who died Oct. 29 in a San Bernardino hospital. He had lived in the Valley 11 years and for 40 years was a construc- tion worker. He was a native of Kansas.

Heart Attack Takes Melvin Meadors, 47


Melvin Meadors, 47, of Erskine Crock Rd .. Lake Isabella, died in Kern Valley Hospital Tuesday (Nov. Is) todowing a heart attack.


Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday (Nov 21) at Val- ley Mortuary, Lake Isabella, with interment at Kern River Valley Cemetery following.


Rev. Dale Brown of the First Baptist Church, lake Isabella, will officiate.


Before his retirement to the Valley two years ago Meadors was a technical supervisor in manufacturing engineering ot Douglas Aircraft Corp. in the Los Angeles area.


He was oorn in Oklahoma on lune 18. 1922 and has lived in California for the past 27 years. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Meadors of Lake Isabella; his wife, Gwen- yth; a daughter, Scarlett Wolf. Lake Isabella, and two sisters, Imogene Ridenour and . Geneva Grasmuck.

Funeral services were held Monday (Nov. 17) at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, "Col ". ma, for Joseph Edward Walling, 45, Weldon, well known in the .. Kern. Valley as owner and oper- ator for 17 years of the South Fork Garage. He died Nov: 11 after a short illness.


He was a member of the vol- unteer rescue team at Weldon: He was a·native of San Francis- co and was born Dec. 9, 1923.

A resident of California for 42 years, he formerly was a real estate salesman. He was born in Cassopolis, Mich., on Sept. }, 1880. He had lived in the Kern Valley six months prior to his death.


Services were conducted at Valley Mortuary Chapel, Lake Isabella, on Saturday (Nov. 29) with Interment following at Mountain View Cemetery, Alte- dena.

Mr. Brennan had moved to the Valley four years ago to retire. He was manager of the Bakers- field Hospital Supply Company for a number of years prior to his retirement.


Besides his wife, he is surviv- ed by :wo daughters, Mrs. Jaque- line Maciel of Kernville and Mrs. Dorothy Danicl ol Seattle: three brothers, Andrew of Kernville. Robert of Los Angeles, and James V. of Los Angeles; and a cousin, Raymond Rowe of Lus Angeles.

Harold Meeks Killed in Car Crash Friday


Harold Milton Meeks, 37, Kernville employee of the U. S. Forest Service, was killed Fri- day night (Dec. 12) when his auto was struck head-on by an- other on Highway 395 near Randsburg.


Also killed in the accident were Darell Allen Joers, 18, Randsburg, and Harold O'Bry- ant Ramscy, 21, Ridgecrest.


Barstow officers of the Califor- nia Highway Patrol said the ac- cident occurred when Joers lost control of his car and crashed into the auto driven by Meeks.


The three men were dead on arrival at Ridgecrest Hospital.


Services for Meeks will be at 10 a.m. Monday (Dec. 22) in the Chapel of the Roses, Mish Mort- uary, Oildale, with interment following at 2 p.m. at the Kern River Valley District Cemetery. Rev. Charles Middleton, Meek's uncle, will conduct the services.


Meeks nad lived in the Kern- ville arca since 1960 and first worked in mines in the Kern Valley area. Between 1966 and the time of his death he worked with the Cannell Meadows Dis- rict of the U. S. Forest Service. He was in the U. S. Navy from 1950 to 1955.


He was born in Beiber, Calif .. March 30, 1932.


He is survived by his mother, Addie Sampson, of Lincoln City. Ore .; a son, Lawrence Edward, three brothers. Elmer Brant Tramer .of Vancouver, Wash .: Michael Sumpson of Lincoln City, Ore., and Eldridge Meeks of Oildale, and f.ve sisters, Mrs. Challie Burnett of Susanville, Mrs. Bernardine Andaya nf Stockton, Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Karr of Portland, Ore., Mrs. Ar- lene Bolt of Avenal, Calif., and Mrs. Fay Lee of Santa Ana.


OBITUARY


George L. Ramey, Caliente, Dead


George L. Ramey, 83, Caliente, was buried Monday (Dec. 22) at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Bak- ersfield. Ile died of natural causes at Kern General Hospit- al. Bakersfield.


Ramey, born in Cloverdale on Nuv. 16, ISS6, had spent his en- tire life in Kern County. Before his retirement he was a self- employed miner.


He is survived by his wife, Winifred of Caliente, a son, Al- fred J. Ramey of Seattle, and three grandchildren, Linda Cat- lin, Michael and Steven Rainey, all of Bakersfield.


Funeral services at Hillcrest Chapel were conducted by Rev. Al Stringfellow of the First Bap- tist Church of Bakersfield.

Leslie Jordan, 75, Prominent Elk, Is Dead


Leslie ("Lobby") Grafton Jor- dan, 75, prominent member of the Kern Valley BPOE and re- tired electrician, died Thursday (Dec. 18) of natural causes at Mercy Hospital, Bakersfield. He lived at Jessie James Story Trailer Park. Wofford Heights.


He was a charter member of both the Kern Valley and the Ridgecrest Elk's Lodges and at one time was a member of the Mojave iodge.


Services were held Saturday (Dec. 20) at Valley Mortuary. Lake Isabella, with interment following at the Kern River Val- ley District Cemetery. Services were conducted by officers of Elks Lodge No. 2358, Wofford Heights.

Jordan was born in New Or- Icans on Feb. 21, 1894, and had lived in the Valley eight years.


He is survived by his wife, Maric; two sons, Joseph Grace of San Diego and Ernest P. Grace of La Mesa; and a num- ber of brothers, sisters and grandchildren.
