A funeral service was conducted Saturday, June 30 at Kern River Valley Cemetery for Alice G. Witt of Bodfish. Officiating was Rev. Linda D. Inlow, pastor of Highland Chapel United Methodist Church, Lake Isabella.
Mrs. Witt passed away June 26 in Bakersfield.
She is survived by her daughter Harriet Sawyer of Lake Isabella; nephew Robert Markille of Pomona, and three grandchildren. Mrs. Witt had resided in the Kern River Valley for seven years.

Arthur Dalley
A graveside funeral service was conducted July 3 at Kern. River Valley Cemetery, Wofford Heights for Arthur Dalley of Kernville Officiating was Rev. Jim McGhee, pastor of Kernville United Method Church.
Mr. Dalley passed away June 30 at Kern Valley Hospital, Mt. Mesa. He is survived by his wife, Irene C. Gilbert of Kernville, and one sister residing in England.
Arthur Dalley served with the British army in Palestine and Egypt during W.W.I, where he drove trucks and early armored vehicles. In 1922 he went to Canada to live with a cousin. In 1935 he came to Kernville to work on the Gilbert Ranch.
In 1938 he married Irene Carol Gilbert. Mr. Dalley was a rancher and a dalryman and was the first milk delivery man to businesses here in the valley. He opened the first cafe in new Kernville, the Rivernook Cafe.
Mr. Dalley was active in community affairs until his retirement and was grand marshall of the Whiskey Flat parade in 1980.
Born September 17, 1898 in Portsmouth, England, Arthur Leonard Cecil Dalley was 85 years of age. Arrangements by Valley Mortuary, Lake Isabella.

A funeral service was conducted Tuesday, July 10 at the Church of Jusus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Mt. Mesa, for Roland I. Nisewander of Weldon. Officiating was Bishop J. M. Kent. Mr. Nisewander passed away July 5 at Kern Valley Hospital, Mt. Mesa.
He is survived by his wife, Marion of Weldon; son Gregory of Weldon, daughters Virginia Murphy of Lancaster, Selma I. Gautreauix of Norwalk, Barbara Banks of Lakewood; sons Roland Jr. of Fullerton, Douglas of Buena Park, brother Robert of Southgate; sister Margaret of Lakewood; eleven grandchildren and eleven great- grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 19, at noon for Harold Vincent of Lake Isabella who died Monday, July 9, in Lincoln City, Oregon
Born in York, Nebraska, January 12, 1916, Mr. Vuicent was 68 years old. He had been a resident of Lake Isabella for the past 23 years and was a retired master machinist.

She is survived by her son Gilbert of Lake Isabella, two grandsons, two granddaughters, and eleven great-grandchildren.

Wm. E. Morland
A memorial service WAS conducted Tuesday, July 31, at the Valley Mortuary Chapel for William Earl Moreland of Kernville. Officiating was Pastor Jerry Ruff of the foursquare Church of Wofford Heights and officers of VFW Post 7685 of the Kern River Valley.
Mr. Moreland passed away suddenly on July 25. He is survived by his wife, Lewre, of Kernville, son Mike of Kernville, daughter Londa Glass, five grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Mr. Moreland was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force where he served as an air gunner over Europe. He received the air medal with three oak leaf clusters and the purple heart for wounds received in combat.
Bill Moreland was a life member of the VFW and a member of Post 7665. He had lived 29 years in the Kern River Valley.
Born July 5, 1917, in Porterville, Moreland was 67.

Badajos passed away on July 26 at the Kern Valley Hospital, Mt. Mesa.

Thursday, Aug. 2 for Pauline M.
Stark of Lake Isabella. Officiating at the Valley Mortuary Chapel was Rev. Jack Jones, pastor of the Mt View Southern Baptist Church, Lake Isabella.
Mrs. Stark passed away Aug. 1 at the Kern Valley Hospital.
She is preceeded in death by her husband, Homer, deceased in 1970, and survived by her sister and brother-in-law. Nora and Sherman Duffey of Lake Isabella.
Pauline and Homer Stark moved to the Kern River Valley 14 years ago and Pauline worked for the Kern Valley Hospital in the kitchen for 10 years.

C.B. MOORE
A Woody native, C.B. Moore, died August 8, 1984 at the age of 62. He was born September 28, 1921 at Woody and had lived there all his life.
Moore recieved his education in Kern County schools and for the past 39 years was a heavy equipment operator and worked for Sierra Logging Company.
He was a veteran of the Korean conflict and World War II.
He is survived by his mother, Mable Moore, Bakersfield; sons Michael Tommanney of Kernville, Timothy Miller of Bakersfield and John Moore of Porterville; daughters Dolores Rossback of Wofford Heights, Kelly Keeling of Lake Isabella and Tracey Sellman of Woody; seven grandchildren and a brother, Lawrence of woody, and a sister, Eleanor Baker of Long Beach.

Carl "Pee Wee" Oldham
Carl Oliver Oldham, known as "Pee Wee" to his friends was born May 7, 1907 In Galveston, Texas. He passed away August 26 at Kern Valley Hospital, Mt. Mesa at the age of 77.
Carl led a very colorful life. His father was an insurance adjuster and the family moved to different places during his early years. Carl was a fighter and at one time held the flyweight champlon title for the state of Texas.
He also rode at several race tracks as a jockey. He traveled back and forth across the continent several times, stopping and working when necessary to make his living.
In the early 1930's, he came to the Kern River Valley to visit his father, Oren Oldham.
Carl worked at the Greenhorn Caves near Miracle Hot Springs, which were rich with gold ore deposits. After the Greenhorn Caves were sold, he moved back to Galveston and becarne a boilermaker and shipbwlder where he was a supervisor for many years.
After retiring from that job, in the late 50's, he came back to the Kern River Valley and settled in the place he loved so well, on a mining claim known as Box 6, Kern River Canyon, about one mile west of Miracle Hot Springs, where he spent his last years placer mining on the Kern River
Carl is survived by his sisters, Francis Meredith of Sitllwater. Okla., Anna Teer, Rodessa, La .. Mary Ellen Yarbrough, Hitchcock. Tex., and brother Vernon of Galveston, plus many nieces and nephews who loved his dearly.
Services were held Tuesday August 28 Valley Mortuary Chapel. Officiating was Rev. Bill Gibson. Interment was held at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Bakersfield.

Robert Mulcork Crayford Bob Crayford was born July 8, 1917 in North Olmstead, Ohio and passed away August 30, 1964 at Mercy Hospital in Bakersfield.
In 1934 Bob joined the U.S. Navy for a +-year term of service. During WW II he re-enlisted and was radar and electronics Instructor at Ford Naval Training Station in Dearborn, Mich.
In the following years Bob developed and was president of two corporations called "Wayne Television Laboratories" and "Crayford Industrial Electronics Corp.," both in Wayne, Mich.
Upon moving to California he worked for the Genisco Technology Corp., and for the County of Orange, where he was employed as an electronics design engineer until his retirement five years ago.
Bob and Virginia enjoyed the country life at Onyx where he became quite a vegetable gardener.
Bob and Virginia Burkett met at the American Propellor Corp., where she was an industrial Registered Nurse and he was busy with his industrial design work. They were married in 1944 in Toledo, Ohio.
Bob was a member of the Kern River Valley Amateur Radio Club, aka Hams. He is survived by his wife Virginia of Onyx; daughters Connie Fuller of Couer d' Alene, Ide., Ruth White and Elaine Hammond of Toledo, Ohio; sisters Eleanor Fryman of Oregon, Ohlo and Juanita Shaw of Malibu; grandchildren Virginia Little and Eric Little, Tiffany and Matthew Fuller of Couer d' Alene, Ida.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, Aug. 30 at Valley Mortuary Chapel, Lake Isabella, tor Elmer G. Mammen of Boddinh. Officiating was Rev. Bill Gibson & Lake Isabella. Mr. Mammen passed away Aug. 28 at Kern Valley Hospital, Mt. Mesa.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Violet of Bodfish; one son, George; daughters-in-law Janet and Donna Mammen; nine
grandchildren; fourteen great . grandchildren; three sisters, Viola, Maydelle and Mildred, all of California.
Born Sept. 5, 1905 in Lamar, Missouri, Elmer George Mammen was 78 years of age. Interment at Kern River Valley Cemetery.

"Hoot" Michelson
Funeral services were conducted Friday, Aug. 31 at Valley Mortuary Chapel, Lake Isabella for Kenneth J. "Hoot" Michelson of Bodfish. Officiating was Rev. Monsignor Denis J. Doherty, pastor of St. Jude's Parish Church, Wofford Heights. Mr. Michelson passed away Aug. 28 at Kern Valley Hospital, Mt. Mesa.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ann of Bodfish; daughters Mary Lu Coleman of Hawthorne, Terry Newman of Gardena; grandchildren Matthew and Carolyn Newman, and Jeff, Rusty and Scotty Coleman.
Born May 22, 1914 in Clay Centar, Kansas, Kenneth Jerome "Hoot" Michelson was 70 years of age. Interment at Kern River Valley Cemetery.

George A. Eby
A graveside funeral service was conducted at Kern River Valley Cemetery Sept. 6 for George A. Eby of Southlake. Officiating were officers of KRV Elks Lodge No. 2358 BPOE. Mr. Eby passed away Sept. 3 at Kern Valley Hospital, Mt. Mesa. He is survived by his wife Erma of Southlake; daughter Shirley Elkins of Las Vegas; brothers Richard and Harold of Iowa, and Ted of Arizona; three grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.
Mr. Eby had been a resident of the Kern River Valley since 1969 and was a member of the Elks. Born August 24, 1917 in Monticello, Iowa, George Arthur Eby was 67 years of age. Arrangements by Valley Mortuary, Lake Isabella.
HAZEL M. KERR
Funeral services were conducted Sept. 6 at Lakeside Chapel of Westminster Memorial Park, Westminster, Calif., for Hazel M. Kerr of Mt. Mesa. Mrs. Kerr passed away Sept 3 at Kern Valley Hospital. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Virgil of Mt. Mesa; son Dennis of Sunnymead ; daughter Carol Ann Ward of Irvine; brother Charles Renner of Mt. Morris, Mich .; sister Donna Guyor, also of Mt. Morris. Born Jan 3, 1920 in Flint Michigan, Hazel Matilda Kerr was 64 years of age, Interment at Westminster Memorial Park.
