Chester Duncan Chet Carpenter
A funeral service was held Thur- sday March 24 at the Valley Mor- tuary Chapel, Lake Isabella for Chester D. Carpenter of Wofford Heights. Mr. Carpenter passed away March 21 at Ridgecrest Community Hospital, Ridgecrest. Officiating at the funeral services were officers of the Kern River Valley Elks Lodge No. 2358 of which Mr. Carpenter was a member. Chester Carpenter is survived by his wife Helen of Wof- ford Heights and preceeded in death by his parents and one brother. He is also survived by two brothers, Bob Carpenter of Inglewood, Dave Car- penter of El Segundo and many nieces and nephews. Born July 2, 1914 in Royal Oak, Michigan, Chet Carpenter was 68 years of age. Arrangements by Valley Mortuary.

WALTER JOSEPH ANSALDO
Walter Joseph Ansaldo passed away at his home in Wofford Heights on March 17, He was born February 26, 1911 in Charleston, S.C. Ansaldo moved to the Kern River Valley in 1978.
Memorial Services were held March 21 at the Church of Our Redeemer Chapel, Garden Grove, CA.
Ansaldo was a graduate of Porter Military Academy, Rice Business Institute and he attended law school for two years. In 1940, Ansaldo was employed by Senator Huey Long in the Charleston office, Later, An- saldo moved to California as a manager for Sears. In 1950 he joined the Postal Service in Orange County, He was president of the Orange County Postal Workers Union. Ansaldo was a sustaining member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lake Isabella.
Survivors include his wife. Lillie; daughters, Irene Bixby, Wofford Heights; Margie Wagner,
Anaheim; grandchildren, Christina

Officiating was Reverend Rob Langguth Pastor of the United Methodist Church, Kernville. Mr. Rolfe passed away March 30 at the Yuma Regional Medical Center, Yuma, Arizona.
He is survived by his wife Thelma of Wofford Heights; daughters Diana King of Bodfish; Alana Jean Kammeyer of Bakersfield; brother Durl Rolfe of Boulder, Colorado and six grandchildren. Mr. Falk passed away March 29 at the San Joaquin Community Hospital, Bakersfield. He is sur- vived by his wife Lillian of Lake Isabella; son Andrew Jr. of Ridgecrest; daughters Patricia Bell of Oildale; Beverly Newman of Fresno; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

John Luther McAtee passed away April 4 at his residence in Bodfish. He had resided here in the Kern River Valley for the past 20 years. He had been a chef and a guitarist most of his life, playing and singing with several local Western Musicians. His last public ap- pearance was with Billy Mize.
John McAtee is survived by one daughter Jean Davidson, gran- dchildren and great-grandchildren, all of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one sister Isabel Dial resides in Altus, Oklahoma; nephews Doug McAtee and R.C. Frank Schneider
Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated Monday at Saint Jude Catholic Church, Kernville, for Frank J. (Frankie) Schneider, 71, who died March 31 in Los Banos. Msgr. Dennis J. Doherty officiated with interment following in the Kern River Valley District Cemetery.
Mr. Schneider, born near Madera, married the former Eleanor Silicz on June 30, 1936, and the young couple started ranching in the Isabella-Caliente area where they lived for 27 years. At the time of their marriage, Mr. Schneider was already a well-known figure to the rodeo world. He was the World's Champion Bull rider in 1933 and 1934 and the bareback bronc riding champion in 1935. In 1936, with five others, he went to Australla where he represented the U.S.A. Rodeo team in competition between Canana, Australia and the United States, and won the International Bulldogging event. For the past 17 years he was a ranch foreman for the El Tejon Cattle Company in the Hellistar-Los Banos region.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor; two daughters, Nancy Rogers of Amarillo, Texas and Joan Etcheverry of Bakersfield; four grandchildren, Monica and Frankie Etcheverry, Jennifer and James Rogers; two sisters, Amy Bingham of Fremont, Eleanor Mello of San Leandro; two brothers, Roy and Lester Schneider of Janiestown.

Mrs. Bowman passed away April 12 at Memorial Hospital, Bakersfield. She is preceeded in death by her husband Bill Bowman deceased In 1970. She is survived by her husband Winston "Andy" Anderson of Wofford Heights. daughter Kathryn Tenhoff of San Diego; sister Toni Fletcher of Wofford Heights; and sister Margaret of Hemet and three grandsons. Born Dec. 11, 1901 in Mumieapolis, Min- nesota, Gladys Mae Anderson was 81 years of age. Arrangements by Valley Mortuary of Lake Isabella.
James O. Helton
James O. Helton of Kernville passed away April 18 in Bakersfield at San Joaquui Hospital. Born May 7, 1904 in Loudon, Tennessee, Helton was 79 years old.
Helton came to California in 1928 He lived in Hayward tor 30 years and was a building contractor in the bay area. He retired and came to live in Kernville where he lived for the past thirteen years. Helton was a mem. ber of El Segundo Rod and Gun Club and Kern Valley Gem and Mineral Society.
Surviving relatives include his wife of thirteen years, Marjorle, his daughter Juritta Price of Covington, Georgia and Sharolyn Slinker of Concord, sons James of Hayward and John of Clovis. He leaves three sisters, Nell North of Dearborn, Michigan, Reba Smotherman of Toledo, Ohio and Naomi Parker of Crossville, Tennessee, two brothers Bonnle of Topeka, Kansas and Levi of Hayward, one half brother James E. from: Knoxville, Tennessee and two half sisters, Edna Owens and Sue Freeman of Knoxville and Seventeen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Helton also leaves a host of friends in the Kern River Valley .
Funeral services will be held at Valley Murtuary Thursday, April 21 at 11 a.m. with Rob Langguth of Kernville United Methodist Church officiating with burial in Kernville Cemetery.
Walter Henry Brink
Walter Henry Brink, 89 passed away April 4, 1983. Brink was born November 26, 1893 in Centralia. Illinois and worked 26 years with Amerada Petroleum Corp In Seminola. Brink was a member of the Masonle Lodge for 53 years.
He Is survived by bls wife Muriel of Bodfisb, two daughters, Anna Marle Baumau of Norwalk and Helen Davison of Dallas, Texas. He was preceeded in death by bis ino sons. Brink also left four sisters, two brothers, many grandchildren, great-greandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Services were held at the First Baptist Church in Lake Isabella with Pastor Snow presiding.

Mr. Hewitt passed away April 18 at his residence. He is survived by his wife Sylvia of Mt. Mesa, one brother and four sisters. born July 20, 1904 in Chicago, Illinois, Leo M. Tom E. Carter, 68, died Aprü 9 in Santlam Hospital, Stayton, Oregon. He was born in Illinois and Lived in Lake Isabella, Calif. before moving to Oregon in 1979. He was a self- employed machinist and owner of Carter Industries in Lake Isabella and lately in Gates, Oregon.
Survivor Is his wife, Jane.
There were no services. His asbes will be scattered over the mountains in Oregon. Arrangements were by Weddle Mortuary, Stayton, OR.

Thomas Ramsay Humphrey, M.D.
Dr. Thomas R. Humphrey Pathologist at the Kern Valley Hospital passed away at the hospital April 23 after illness. Interment was April 26 at the Joshua Memorial Park cemetery in Lancaster.
A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church, Lake Isabella on Friday April 29 at 2 p.m. Officiating will be Reverend Dave Snow, Pastor.
Thomas R. Humphrey was born July 23, 1917 in Buffalo, New York, before coming to the Kern River Valley two and one half years ago to serve on the staff of the Kern Valley Hospital. He had been a pathologist in the Lancaster-Palmdale area. Dr. Humphrey had served before that as a medical missionary in Zaire, Africa.
It has been requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent in memory of Dr. Humphrey to: Medical Assistance Programs In- ternational P.O. Box 50 Wheaton, Illinois 60819.
Honarary pallbearers at the memorial service will be Lou Mahlstedt, Marvin Godfrey, Ten- nyson Lewia, James Ash, Bob Holquist, Galnor Keese.
Dr. Humphrey is survived by his wife Helalne of Lake Isabella, son David of Lancaster, three brothers, three sisters and four gran- dchildren.
Dr. Thomas Ramsay Humphrey will be fondly remembered by all those who knew and loved him and by the many he served. He was 65 years of age.
Edward Meyer
Edward "Eddie" Meyer of Ker- nville passed away April 22 at the Kern River Valley hospital, Mt. Mesa. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Alberta of Kernville, son Louis of Kernville and one son of Los Angeles.
Meyer was retired from the automotive business. He had spent a lifelong career until age 83 In Hollywood working on competition engines and cars. In his earlier life he had raced a number of cars of his own.
Born October 5, 1893 in Alsace- Lorraine, France, Edward "Eddie Meyer was 89 years of age.

Douglas John Hughes of Riverside passed away suddenly during the early evening of April 24 on Jawbone Canyon Road In the rural area southeast of Weldon. He is aur- vived by his wife Carolyn of River- side.
The body of Douglas J. Hughes will be cremated and his ashes scat- tered on Greenhorn summit by Valley Mortuary. Born July 13, 1939, Douglas Jon Hughes was 43 years of age.

Donald L. Stinson of Onyx passed away April 26 at the Kern Valley hospital, Mt. Mesa. He is survived by his son Danny of Onyx; Father Lewis Stinson of Onyx; brothers Richard of Onyx and Kenneth of Modesto, one sister Jean Herron resides in Norwalk.
Donald Stinson was a ham radio operator and was a member of the Westcars Club, The Arnerican Radio Relay League and the Kern River Valley Radio Club.

A memorial service was held Wednesday May 18 at the Valley Mortuary Chapel, Lake Isabella for Laird Elwood Altman of Weldon. Of- ficiating were officers of the Kern River Valley Fagles Aerie 3156.
Mr. Altnian passed away May 15 at Kern Valley Hospital, Mt. Mesa. He is survived by his wife Geraldine of Weldon, daughter Karen Waters of Weldon and many friends here in the Kern liver Valley.
Mr. Altman was a Veteran and a member of the VFW and the Eagles.

Shirley May Marksberry
A funeral service was held Mon- day May 16 at the Valley Mortuary Chapel, Lake Isabella, for Shirley May Marksberry of Weldon. Of- ficiating was Father David Graham, Pastor of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Kernville.
Mrs. Marksberry passed away May 13, 1983 at the Kaiser Per- manente Medical Center, Panorama City.
She is survived by her husband Elner of Weldon, son Richard of Temple City, daughter Terry Hollister of West Covina, sisters Audrey Phillips of Jackson, Mississippi, Gloria Glore of Covington, KY.

Robert C. McGovern
Robert MeGovern of Bodfish passed away at tus residence on May 10. A memorial service for lum was held Tuesday May 17 at the Valley Mortuary Chapel, Lake Isabella.
Officiating were officers of the Kern River Valley Moose Lodge No. 498 of which Mr. McGovern was a member. Bob McGovern was a retired graphic artist with Rocket- dyne Corp. in Canoga Park.
He is survived by lus mother Ruth McGovern of Las Vegas, daughter Kim Gyopyos of San Fernando Valley, sister and brother in law Betty and Lynn Keid of Madera and many friends here in the Kern River Valley and los Angeles
Born Feb 15. 1921 in Salt Lake City, Utah, Robert McGovern was 62 years of age. Memorial arrangements by Valley Mortuary.
Thomas Francis Whalen
A funeral service was held Tuesday May 17 at the First Baptist Church, Lake Isabella for Thomas F. Whalen of Bodfish. Offialing was Reverend Dave Snow, Pastor.
Mr. Whalen passed away May 13 at Mercy Hospital, Bakersfield. He is survived by his wife Alice of Bod- fish, son Thomas of Redding, daughter Nancy Lowe of Los Angeles, six grandchildren and three great -grandchildren.
