Mr. Johnson passed away in Lake Isabella on March 9. He is aurvived by his wife Frances of Lake Isabella, son Dale of Westminster, daughter Barbara Burns of North Carolina, seven grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.


Mr. Johnson was a member of the Elks, the Over-the-Hill-Gang motorcycle group and the C. B. club. He was a WWII veteran of the U. S. Navy.

A funeral aervice was conducted March 7 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Kernville for Hazel L. Voilea of Kernville. Officiating was Father David Graham, Pastor. Mrs. Volles passed away March 3 at Mercy Hospital, Bakersfield.


She is preceeded in death by her husband Guy deceased in November 1000- and furvived by her brother Kenneth Millard North Hollywood. Hazel Voiles was a member of the Rebekahs and the VFW Auxiliary.


Born Oct. 5, 1900 in Beloit, Wisconsin, Hazel L. Voiles was 83 years of age. Interment at the Kern River Valley cemetery. Arrangements by Valley Mortuary.


Velma I. Stewart


A funeral service will be held Friday, March 16 at 2 p.m. graveside at the Kern River Valley Cemetary for Velma 1. Stewart of Bodfish, formerly of Kernville. Mrs. Stewart passed away suddenly on March 11.


She is survived by her husband Fred R. Stewart of Bodfish, daughters Jeanne Bazz of Lakewood, Sheryl Adama of Whittier, son Michael of Sumner, Washington. Sisters Helen Lowrie of Mendota, Dorthy Wilhite of Philo, Louise Baumbach of Fresno and three grandchildren.


Officiating at the graveside service will be Reverend David Snow, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Lake Isabella. Mrs. Stout we currently Employed st the Pafa Ranches Motel In Kernville.


Born September 13, 1932 in Oklahoma, Velma Inez Stewart was 51 years of age.

Edward L. Greenwell A funeral service was held Friday, March 16 at Valley Mortuary Chapel, Lake Isabella, for Edward L. Greenwell of Southlake Estates. Officiating was Pastor Tim Anderson of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Lake Isabella.


Mr. Greenwell passed away March 14 at Kern Valley Hospital, Mt. Mesa. He is survived by his wife of 18 years Hazel Greenwell of Southlake, daughter Sarah Nell Payne of Alabama, eight grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren. Mr. Greenwell was a member of the Southlake Property Owners Assoc.

A memorial service was held Saturday, March 17 at the KRV Elks Lodge, Wofford Heights, for Steven B. McDaniel of Canyon Meadows, Bodflah. Officiating were officers of Elks Lodge No. 2358, B.P.O.E. Mr. McDaniel passed away March 13 at his residence.


He Is survived by his wife Ellie of Canyon Meadows, sons Steven Jr. of Arizona, Dean of El Toro, Gary of Oregon, William of San Diego, daughter Dlane Payne of Mammoth Mountain, sister Josephine Brechelsen of San Diego, brothers Thomas and Jullus both of San Diego and fifteen grandchildren.

Rebecca Hubbard


Rebecca Hubbard, 72, died March 12, 1984 at Bakersfield Community Hospital. She had lived on Yankee Canyon Road in Lake Isabella for the past five years.


Hubbard was born in Iowa on February 19, 1912. Her husband, Cecil, preceded her in death in August, 1983.


Survivora include three sons,


Lynn, Bob and Cary, and 10 grandchildren.


A memorial service was held March 14 at Kernville's Southern Baptist Church. Hubbard's nephew, Bob Parker of Fresno officlated, assisted by Rev. Alton Thomas, pastor at the church.


Interment at Cemetery, Sunland.

Merritt Leroy Gentry


Memorial services were held at Rose Hills Cemetery, Whittier, on March 7 for Merritt Gentry who passed away March 3, 1984 at his residence in Mt. Mesa.


Gentry was born December 26, 1898 in Nebraska. He lived in Mt. Mesa for 17 years.


Survivors include his wife, Crystal: two sons, Dale, Homeland;

A funeral mass was celebrated at St. Jude's Church, Wofford Heights on Wednesday, March 21 for Edward J. La Rochelle of Wofford Heights.


Officiating at the funeral mass and at the rosary held Tuesday evening was Reverend Monsignor Denis J. Doherty, pastor of St. Jude's.


Mr. LaRochelle passed away at home on March 16 after Illness. He Is survived by his wife Irene of Wofford Heights; sons Donald of Canyon Country,

Robert F. Supantic


A funeral service was conducted March 22 at Valley Mortuary Chapel, Lake Isabella, for Robert F. Supantic of Mt. Mesa. Officiating were officers of KRV Moose Lodge No. 498. Mr. Supantic passed away March 19 at Kern Medical Center, Bakersfield.


Ho Is survived by his sisters Etbel Mayor of Seal Beach, Mayme Marold of Ely, Minnesota, and one brother, Thomas J. Supantic of El Segundo. Robert Supantic preceeded in death by his wife Eron, deceased in 1983.


He was a member of the Moose and the Eagles.


Born January 18, 1911 in Ely, Minnesota, Robert Frank Supantic was 73 years of age. Interment at Kern River Valley Cemetery where graveside services were conducted by Monsignor Denis J. Doherty of St. Jude's Parish Church. Arrangements by Valley Mortuary.

Sarah Lois Hawa, long-time resident of the Kern River Valley, passed away on March 2, 1984 in Bakersfield.


She was born December 28, 1899, in Illinois and moved to California in the 200, later to Riverkern In 1963.


Surviving are a son, David, of Pomona; a daughter, Lugene A. Hetblack of Bodfish; a brother, John Dee of Encinitas; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Charles Delbert "Del" Robinson passed away March 21 at Kern Valley Hospital, Mt. Mesa. A memorial service was conducted for Mr. Robinson at Valley Mortuary Chapel, Lake Isabella on March 23.


Officiating was Reverend David Snow, pastor of First Baptist Church, Lake Isabella.

A funeral service will be held Friday, March 30, 11 a.m. at Valley Mortuary Chapel, Lake Isabella, for Coral A. Noble of Wofford Heights. Officiating will be Pastor Jim McGhee of Kernville United

Mrs. Noble passed away March 26 In Bakersfield. She is survived by her daughter, Hilda Shoemaker of Wofford Heights; grandchildren Paul Shoemaker of Torrance and Donna Pratt of Sedona, Arizona, and three great-grandsons.


Born July 25, 1881 in Whitley County, Indiana, Coral was the eldest of a family of six children born to William and Alice T. Vandersaul.


Coral Noble was a member of the Kernville United Methodist Church and had pieced many quilts and nightrobes for friends here in the valley. She was 102 years young !

Geneva Opal Creasy


Geneva Opal Creasy, long-time resident of the Kern River Valley, passed away on March 27, 1984, at Ridgecrest Community Hospital.


She was born July 22, 1911 in Stonewall, Oklahoma, and moved to California in 1930.


On December 9, 1935, she was married to Thomas E. Creasy. They had one son, Thomas E. Jr., both survive.


She is also survived by one brother, John W. Jackson of Baldwin Park, four sisters, Blanche Greene of El Monte, Audrey Grace of Baldwin Park, Hazel Reeves of Rivera, Ariz., and Marie Fox of San Gabriel; one daughter-in-law, Vera Creasy and three grandchildren.


A funeral service was conducted March 30 at Rose Hills Memorial Park Hillside Church in Whittier. Officiating were officera of the Order of Eastern Star, San Gabriel Chapter No. 407.

Tobitha E. Alexander Tobltha Ethel Alexander of Burbank passed away at her Burbank residence on March 29, 1984.


Mrs. Alexander was a former resident of Lake Isabella for 15 years.

Mr. Dixon passed away April 1 at Mercy Hospital, Bakersfield.


He is survived by his wife Phyllis of Bella Vista; sons Jerry of Canebrake and Raymond of Casper, Wyoming; grandson Justin of Canebrake and one sister, Dottie Simonis of Ellensburg, Washington.


Mr. Dixon was a W.W. II U.S. Army veteran who served a second enlistment following the second world war. He was a member of KRV Moose Lodge No. 498.

A private graveside memorial service was held Tuesday, April 3 at Cottage Grove Cemetery, Onyx, for SHvan Simone of Ashland, Oregon.


Mr. Simone passed away March 30 at Santa Monica Hospital in Santa Monica. He is survived by his daughter Fernanda Simonsen of Canoga Park.


Mr. Simone is a former resident of the Onyx area. Born July 2, 1922 in Naples, Italy, Silvan Maria-Renato Sunone was 61 years of age.

Mr. Thompson passed away March 30 at Kern Valley Hospital, Mt. Mesa.


He is survived by his wife. Beatrice of Lake Isabella; daughter and son-in-law Joyce and Bob Smith of Sacramento; granddaughters Karen Smith of Irvine and Eileen Hannah of Visalia; two great- grandchildren, Bryan and Eric Hannah of Visalia; sisters Louise Earnest, Bakersfield and Bernice Thompson, Seal Beach; brothers Edward of Minneapolis, Raymond of Long Beach, and Wallace of Oceanside.


Leo Thompson was retired after 40 years with the Texaco Corporation where he worked in natural gas production in the Fellows Oilfields near Taft. He was formerly a resident of Taft and has lived in Taft and Lake Isabella since 1949.


Born December 17, 1899 in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, Leo Bertrum Thompson was 84 years of age.

Officiating were members of the Kern River Valley Veterans' Council, who rendered full military booocs. Mr. Morton passed away April & at San Joaquin Community Hospital, Bakersfield.


He is preceded In death by biesrits Evelyn and survived by stop- daughters Elleen Fears of Wolford Heights and Elsie Almer of Canoga Park; brothers Fred of Seattle, Ellis of Pasco, Washington, Leland W. of Denver, Leroy of Long Beach; sister Clara May of Alabama; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.


Salty Morton was a veteran of both W.W.I and W.W.II. He served with both the U.S. Army and Navy. During W. W.II he served aboard the former French ocean Liner Normandie, converted to a wartime troop carrier. He was active in all the veterans' organizations of the Kern River Valley.


Born October 30, 1896 to Deover, Colorado, Elton Adelbert "Butyl Morton was 87 years of age.

Hubert M. Hyton Hubert M. Hytan, 85, died March 8, 1984. Hyten was the brother-to-law of Ruth Warnock of Kernville.


Other survivors include his wife, Norine, of Lacey's Spring, Ala .; son Sherwin of Huntsville, Ala .; daughter Patti Ruth Spahr of Huntsville and four grandchildren.


Hyten was born in Kansas in 1898 and was employed with Standard Ou Company In El Segundo for many years, later retiring to Lacey's Spring.

Graveside funeral services were held for Duard John Stephens of Lake Isabella on Monday, April 9, 1984. Officiating was Rev. Linda D. Inlow, pastor of Highland Chapel United Methodist Church, Lake Isabella.


Mr. Stephens passed away April 4 at Greater Bakersfield Memorial Hospital after a long illness.


He is survived by his wife Albs E. Stephens of Lake Isabella; ron Merle Stephens of Ventura; uve grandchildren, Andrew, Lrene, Lorrie, Jimmy and David; brothers Bill of La Puente, Burlis of Lakeport. Ca., Fent of Lake Isabella and slater Minnle Harmon, also of La Puente.

A funeral service was conducted Tuesday, April 17 at First Baptist Church, Lake Isabella, for Charles A. Maggs of Bodfish. Officiating was Pastor Dave Snow. Maggs passed away April 15 in Bakersfield.


He is survived by his wife Velma of Bodfish; son Charles Jr. daughters Ardis, Barbara and Donna; grandchildren and great- grandchildren.


Maggs was a veteran of two wars. WWI where he served with the Army and WWII where he was in the Navy. Born December 17, 1897 in Wales, United Kingdom, Charles A. Maggs was 86 years of age. Interment at Kern River Valley Cemetery, Wofford Heights. Arrangements by Valley Mortuary Lake Isabella.


Sam E. Twerle Sam E. Twerle of Bodfish passed away April 10 in Bakersfield. He is survived by his sisters-in-law, Alice G. Witt of Bodfish and Anita Smith, also of Bodfish.


Twerie was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 827 of the Kern River Valley.


Born September 28, 1903 in New York, Sam E. Twerie was 80 years of age.

Lorraine G. Hall of Kernville passed away April 10 at her residence.

Fent Youle Stephens Fent Stephens passed away at Mercy Hospital, Bakersfield, on April 8 after a short illness.


He is survived by son James of Buana Park, daughter Sally of Morgan Hill, three granddaughters and one great-grandson; brothers Bill of La Puente, Burlis of Lakeport, a sister Minnle Harmon, also of La Puente, and a host of friends.


He was preceded in death by a brother Duard, also of Lake Isabella, who passed away April 4.


Stephens was a retired machinist, an avid fisherman and hunter, and had been coming to Isabella Lake many years. He had made his home here the past ten years.


Born August 25. 1916, in Lanton, Missouri, Fent was 67 years of age


Frankford I. Parke


A funerai service was conducted at Valley Mortuary Chapel, Lake Isabella, for Frankford I. Parke of Lake Isabella on Wednesday, April 18.


Officiating were officers of Kern River Valley Chapter 54 of the Disabled American Veterans. Parke is survived by his son Ivan of Brooklyn, New York and grandson Dennis of Anaheim.


Frankford Parke was a U.S. Army veteran of W.W.Il who served with military intelligence. He was retired from the Army after 20 years of service.

A graveside service was held


Tuesday, April 17 at 3 p.m. at Los Osos Valley Memorial Park for Mrs. Maribah Genevieve Carter, 75. Officiating at the service was the Rev. Fr. Michael O'Sullivan of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Arroyo Grande.


Mrs. Carter was born in Yakima, Washington on December 16, 1908, and she moved to Oceano last year from Onyx. Mrs Carter passed away Friday, April 13, 1984 at the home of her daughter in Arroyo Grande.


She is survived by her husband Robert H. Carter of Oceano, three daughters, Bettyann P. Roberts of San Diego, Arlene Newcomb of San Diego, Roberta H. Orueta of Arroyo Grande; two brothers, Eugene Birch of Woodland, Harold Birch of Sacramento; 9 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Mary Anne Carter passed away suddenly at her residence in Inyokern on April 18. She is survived by her husband, Floyd of Inyokern. Mrs. Carter was born Mary Anne Schroeder on January 26, 1932 in Aberdeen, South Dakota. She was 52 years of age.

A funeral service was conducted Friday, April 20, 1984 at Valley Mortuary Chapel for George D. Carlton of Lake Isabella. Officiating was Monsignor Denis Doherty, Pastor of St. Jude's Parish Church, Wofford Heights.


Mr. Carlton passed away April 19 in Bakersfield.


He is survived by his son Edward of San Pedro; daughter Frances Pilato of San Pedro and five grandchildren.


Mr. Carlton is preceded in death by his wife Goldie, deceased in June of 1983.


George Carlton was a W.W. II vateran of the U.S. Navy who served in the Pacific. He was a member of VFW Post 7685 here in the Kern River Valley. Presentation of the United States flag to the Carlton family was by Chaplain Jesse E. Wright, representing the Kern River Valley Veterans Council and VFW Post 7665.


Born August 14, 1926 in Hannibal, Missouri, George Douglas Carlton was 57 years of age.

OBITUARY


Altus E. Lewis


Memorial services were conducted Friday, April 27 at First Baptist Church, Lake Isabella, for Altus E. Lewis of Lake Isabella. Officiating was Reverend David Snow, pastor. Mrs. Lewis passed away April 24 at ber residence in Lake Isabella.


She is survived by her son, Lee Lewis of Simi Valley; daughter, Patricia Ulrich of Sunland; seven grandchildren and eleven brothers and sisters.


Born December 12, 1924 in Ponca County, Oklahoma, Altus Edna Lewis was 59 years of age. Cremation arrangements by Valley Mortuary, Lake Isabella.


Betty M. Creith


A memorial service will be held May 12 at the KRV Elks Lodge in Wofford Helghts for Betty M. Creith of Wofford Helghts. Officiating w !! be officera of Kern River Valley Elks Lodge No. 2358, B.P.O.E. Mrs. Creith passed away at her residence on April 25.


She Is survived by her husband Harry of Wofford Heights; sons Robert Williams of Corona, Gary Williams of Costa Mesa; daughter Karen Calendine of Huntington Beach; and grandchildren Travis and Crystal Calendine of Huntington Beach.


Born July 18, 1926 In Chicago, Illinois, Betty Marie Creith was 57 years of age. Cremation arrangements by Valley Mortuary, Lake Isabella. Interment of ashes at Westminster Memorial Park, Westminster, CA.

OBITUARY


Roxanne L. Huston


Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, May 3, at 2 p.m. in Valley Mortuary Chapel for Roxanne Huston of Lake Isabella. Officiating will be Duane Splawn, pastor of First Christian Church, Southlake.


Ms. Huston passed away April 30, the victim of a highway accident on State Route 155 near French Gulch.


She is survived by her parents Carole and Corky Huston of Waldon; grandparents Mrs. Helen Keller of Bodfish, Mr. and Mrs. Jack B. Huston of Bakersfield; brother Rocky J. Huston of Los Angeles and Vince Leon Huston of Las Vegas; cousins Norm and Arlene Tibbetts of Lake Isabella; uncle Robert Ranta of Red Lodge, Montana; and numerous aunts and uncles.


Born June 7, 1957 in Bakersfield, Roxanne Lynn Huston was 26 years of age.


Interment at Kern Valley Cemetery, Wofford Heights. Arrangements by Valley Mortuary, Lake Isabella.

New York, and she passed away May 1, 1984 in Kernville. Graveside services were held at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Bakersfield by officers of the


Kernville Rebekah Lodge 365 and Rev. Jim McGhee, pastor of Kernville United Methodist Church. She was laid to rest beside her husband, Larry, who predeceased her several years ago.
