Services were held Aug. 26 at the Kernville Methodist Church for Viola Ernestine Reily-Oakes, 74, who passed away at her residence Aug. 23. Rev. James McGhee of Kernville Methodist Church officiated.
Casket bearers were John Perkins, David Perkins, Michael Perkins, Mel Bassler, Brian Enns and Bobby Thompson.
Mrs. Reily-Oaks was born May 28, 1912 in Whittier. She graduated from Whittier College in 1933 and had taught school in Kernville for 21 years. She moved to the Kern Valley in 1954 and retired in 1977.
She taught at both Woodruw Wallace and Kernville Elementary School.
Mrs. Reily-Oaks is survived by three sons Thomas D. Perkins of Los Alamitos and his wife, Mary and children Sheridan, Michael, Lorilyn and Allison: Stephen Perkins of Bakersfield, his wife, Donna and children, John, David, Mel and Brian, and Gary A. Perkins of Kernville, his wife Ann and children Sarah and Kurtis; Sisters Virginia Longworth of Coasta Mesa, Thelma Mitchell of Dolan Springs, Airzona and Barbara Burnworth of Las Vegas, Nevada; great-grandchildren Bobby and Christopher Thompson and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held Thursday, Sept. 4 at Oildale Apostolic Church, 1107 No. Chester in Oildale for Monroe James Holt of Lake Isabella. Death resulted from an automobile accident that occurred on July 28, when an unattended vehicle was left parked partially in the roadway.
Monroe was born Dec. 5, 1931 at Featherstone, Oklahoma and was 54. He resided in the Kern Valley for the past six years

A funeral service was conducted Wednesday, Sept. 17 at the Valley Mortuary Chapel, Lake Isabella for Marshall C. Patrick of Bodfish Officiating was Rev. Paul

Mr. Patrick passed away Sept. 13 in a Bakersfield hospital.
He is survived by his wife Hilda of Bodfish; son Raymond of Carson; brothers Olin of Montana, Carl R. of Bodfish, James and Floyd, both of Montana; sisters Beatrice Cobb of Kansas, May Hay of Montana, Terese Anderson of Montana, Gladys Haun of Wyoming; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Mr. Patrick was a member of the Moose and the Douglas El Segundo Rod and Gun Club. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army.

Services were held at Saddleback Chapel in Tustin on Sept. 3 for Mae S. Stevens of Weldon who passed away while visiting her daughter in Olympia, Washington on August 28.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George, who passed away in 1983.

Mae Stevens was born in Tustin, California on March 13, 1907. She Lived most of her life in El Toro and moved to Weldon in 1976 when she and her husband George operated an alfalfa ranch in Weldon.

BUD OSBORNE
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated at the St. Jude Parish Catholic Church on Monday, Sept. 22 for Harold Graves 'Bud' Osborne of Kernville. Celebrant of the mass was Rev. Monsignor Anthony G. Herdegen, Pastor of St. Jude Parish.
Monsignor Herdegen also led the Rosary conducted at St. Jude Church prior to the mass.
Mr. Osborne pased away Sept. 18 at Kern Valley Hospital.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Arminta of Kernville; son Charles B. Osborne of Washington and five grandchildren.
Bud Osborne had lived in the Kern Valley for the past 17 years. He was a member of the Elks and was Past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge 2358. He was also a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Chapter 2972 and a member of St. Jude Parish.
Born Feb. 16, 1908 in St. Louis, Missouri, Harold G. 'Bud' Osborne was 78.

Memorial services were held Sept.
27 for Leroy Emmet Wilcox, 86 of Bakersfield, who passed away Sept. 22 in a Bakersfield hospital. Mr. Wilcox was born in Nebraska, April 9, 1900, he was a former resident of Lake Isabella and had resided in Bakersfield for five months.

A funeral service was conducted Friday, Sept. 26 at the Valley Mortuary Chapel for Merle R. Brown of Lake Isabella. Officiating was the Kern River Valley Veterans Council. Fred Dodds, commander and Jesse F. Wright, chaplain.
Mr. Brown passed away Sept. 23 at his residence. He is survived by his son Dr. M. Robert Brown of Foster City; daughter Lois Dungan of Bakersfield and three grandchildren.
During WW I, Mr. Brown served with the U.S. Navy and was a lilfe member of American Veterans of WW I. A resident of the Kern Valley for the past 23 years, Merle Raymond Brown was 88.

Mrs. Karas was born in January, 1908. She was a resident of Wofford Heights for several years and a member of the Kern Valley Art Association.

Mac Settle was a graduate of the University of Albuquerque. During WWII he served with the U.S. Army in Africa, Italy, France and Germany. Mac was a life member of the American Legion and a member of American Legion KRV Post 711.

Ray E. Waters of Cane Brake passed away Oct. 12 at home after illness.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Ruby of Cane Brake; brothers James and L.D. Waters both of Norborne, Missouri; W.L. Waters of Williamsburg, Kentucky, Carl Waters of Los Angeles, Marvin Waters of Bakersfield; brother in law Richard Adkins of Missouri; sisters Alice Workman of Louisville, Nebraska; Dixie Baker, Waterville, Minnesota, Betty Stark of Burbank, Phyllis Romero of Sun Valley, Donna Eslick of Caddo, Oklahoma. One sister Dorothy Shannon of Missouri preceded Ray in death in 1967.
Also surviving are daughters Darlene Adams of Keene, Beverly Mosby of Ridgecrest, Carolyn Grossardt of Cane Brake, Linda Coughran of Onyx; seven grandchildren and three great- grandchildren.
Ray Waters had resided in the Kern Valley for the past 16 years where he worked as a cowboy for the A. Brown Ranch.

A graveside funeral service was conducted Wednesday, Oct. 22 at the Kern River Valley Cemetery for Joyce A. Logsdon of Kernville. Officiating was Rev. James S. McGhee, Pastor of the Kerville United Methodist Church. Mrs. Logsdon's son-in-law, Pastor Russell Willeford delivered the eulogy.
Mrs. Logsdon passed away at home Oct. 18 after illness.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years Archie of Kernville; son Archie Jaye of Kemville; daughter Eileen Joy Willeford of Willits; sister Esther Deveau of Maine and four grandchildren.
Joyce Logsdon had been a trustee of the Kern Valley Hospital Foundation and resident of the Kern River Valley for the past 16 years.
Joyce and Archie moved to the Kern Valley in 1970 and purchased the Riverkern General Store, a business they owned until 1977. They built and operated Archie's Hardware in Kernville from 1978 until 1986. Joyce was a registered nurse and worked for a few months at Kern Valley Hospital in 1970.
Born Jan. 12, 1931 in Pitfield, Maine, Joyce Aileene Logsdon was 55.

Gordon B. Walton of Weldon passed away Oct. 11 at Kern Valley Hospital. GEORGE MISITZ
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Tuesday, Oct. 28 at the St. Jude Parish Catholic Church, Wofford Heights for George Misitz of Kernville. Celebrant of the Mass was Rev. Monsignor Anthony
G. Herdegen, Pastor of St. Jude Parish who also led the Rosary.
Mr. Misitz passed away Oct. 23 in Bakersfield after illness. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret of Kernville.
George Misitz was a member of the Elks and Knights of Columbus and a 20 year resident of the Kern Valley. Born in Romania, March 15, 1909, Mr. Misitz was 77.

ORVAL RAMAGE MARY ETHEL RAMAGE
A combined funeral service was conducted Friday, Oct. 24 at graveside at the Kern River Valley Cemetery for Orval and Mary Ethel Ramage of Lake Isabella. Officiating was Dr. Jerry Corabaley, pastor of the Mt. View Southern Baptist Church. Mr. Ramage pased away Oct. 20 at home after long illness. Mrs. Ramage passed away earlier in El Monte.
They are survived by four children, daughter Patsy Lee Christianson of La Canada, sons Stanley Ramage of Redding, Ronnie Ramage of Rogue River, Oregon, Victor Ramage of Redding, 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Ramage is also survived by two sisters Ada Stallion of Salem, Kentucky, Viva Young of Bradenton, Florida and one brother Dan Ramage of Covington, Kentucky.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Ramage were born in Kentucky. Mr Ramage was 78 and Mary Ethel was 79.
Interment at Kern River Valley Cemetery. Arrangements by Valley Mortuary.
JEVON ELMER CAROTHERS
Jevon Limer Carothers passed away Oct. 22 at the Kern Valley Hospital.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle S. Carothers deceased in January, 1986 and survived by his daughter Susan Fisher of Bodfish; three grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.
Mr. Carothers was a member of Coos Bay, Oregon Elks Lodge and had been a resident of the Kern Valley for the past two years.

JOHN WEGHORST, Jr
A memorial service was conducted Monday, Oct. 27 at the Valley Mortuary Chapel for John Carl Weghorst, Jr. of Lake Isabella. Officlating was Rev. Monsignor Anthony G. Herdegen, Pastor of St. Jude Parish Catholic Church, Wofford Heights. Mr. Weghorst pased away Oct. 22 at Kern Medical Center, Bakersfield.
He is preceded in death by his wife, June, deceased Oct. 1978 and survived by his mother Matilda Weghorst of Coronado, Ca .; son John C. Weghorst III of Lake Isabella; daughters Trudi Williams of Kernville, Tina Lowe of San Jose, Linda Specht of Taft; grandchildren Tabitah Williams of Kernville, Jesse Williams of Kernville, John C. Weghorst IV of Lake Isabella, Tricia Lowe of San Jose, Christy Specht of Taft, Kathleen Specht of Taft and one sister and brother in law Mary Lou and Commander Andrew Bodnar and family of Coronado.
John Weghorst was known as manager of Dam Kommer Store in Lake Isabella in the 1970's. He had been a resident of the Kern Valley for the past 20 years.
Born March 5, 1929 in Quincy, Illinois, John Carl Weghorst Jr. was 57.
Mass will be held Nov. 7 at 10 a.m. at the St. Jude Catholic Church.

A funeral service was conducted graveside at Rose Hills Cemetery in Whittier on Nov. 4 for Gladys Hultquist of South Lake.
