Edith Hand passed away Oct. 13 in Astoria, Washington.
Born in Van Buren, Arkansas on April 6, 1906.
She is survived by two sons, John Myrick of Asotian and Rick Medline of Kansas City, MO. She is also survived by six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Oct. 16 at Charkston, Washington. The family request donations be made to the American Lung Association in lieu of flowers.

Wilham Ward Smith passed away Oct. 11 at Kern Valley Hospital.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy of Mt. Mesa; son Dennis Smith of Lompoc; daughters Shirley Mitchell of Iowa and Julie Smith of Glendale and sister Ruth Shook of Lynwood. He also is survived by four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Mr. Smith was retired from the beer industry and a World War II veteran and a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, No. 3156 and Moose Lodge, 498.
He and his wife have lived in the Kern Valley for the past ten years.

August K. Kraemer of Kernville passed away Oct. 17 at his residence. He is preceded in death by his wife, Erica and survived by his niece, Barbara Gates of Santa Monica.

A funeral service was conducted Friday, Oct. 18 at the First Baptist Church, Lake Isabella for Vivian Brugh of Lake Isabella. Officiating was Rev. David Snow, Pastor.
Mrs. Brugh passed away Oct. 14 at the San Joaquin Community Hospital, Bakersfield.
She is predeeded in death by her husband, Wayne L. Brugh, deceased May 16, 1985 and survived by her sons Dennis of Lake Isabella and Stanley of Torrance and grandsons Brian, Eric and Robert; one sister Hazel Hays who resides in Odell, Nebraska. Vivian was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Isabella, the 55 Plus Club and the Women of the Moose.

Murry Solomon of Mt. Mesa passed away Oct. 13 at the Kern Valley Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Jane of Mt. Mesa and son Steve of Ventura.
Mr. Solomon was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army who served in combat in the Southern Phillipines and was wounded March 1945. He was retired from the county of Los Angeles, where he worked for the Health Department. Born Sept. 16, 1914 in New York City, Murry Solomon was 71. Raymond Hughes of Lake Isabella passed away Oct 21 at the Kern Valley Hospital, Mt. Mesa. Memorial visitation for Mr. Hughes was conducted at Valley Mortuary Oct. 21 and 25.
Mr. Hughes is survived by his wife of 55 years, Maxine R. Hughes of Lake Isabella; daughter Jean Ostermeier of San Carlos; sister Gertrude of Nebraska and many nephews in Nebraska.
Raymond Hughes was a resident of the Kern Valley for the past 19 years and was known to many valley residents by his C.B. handle, "Woodsplitter".
Born Jan. 18, 1909 near Carleton, Nebraska, Rayinond Hughes was 76.

Lera M. Mc Daniel passed away Oct. 23 at Memorial Hospital in Bakersfield.
She is survived by her husband, "Mac" of Weldon: son Thomas Faircloth of Lancaster; daughters Nina Wiseman of Weldon, LeRae Elton of Lake Isabella, Lynda Bradshaw of Round Mountain and sister Rilla Daugherty of Lockhart, Texas. She is also survived by stepsons Robert Mc Daniel of Jacksonville, Florida and Ronnie Mc Daniel of Huntington Beach; 22 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Mc Daniel had been a resident of Weldon for three years.

H.E. 'BUD' FAGAN
Services were held for H.E. 'Bud' Fagan of Alta Sierra at the Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes on Oct. 23. Mr. Fagan died at his residence Oct. 21.
Born March 29, 1923 in Lawndale, Mr. Fagan was 62 years.
He graduated from Inglewood High School in 1941 and joined the Navy, where he served as an aircraft machinest during World War II.
He owned Comet Machine Co. in Gardena before he retired.
After his retirement, he moved to Alta Sierra and was a resident of the Kern Valley for the past five years.
Mr. Fagan was a member of the American Legion Post 188 in Inglewood and the Moose Lodge and an associate member of the Magic Castle in Hollywood. He was also a member of the Kern Valley Elks Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie, who died in 1972
Survivors include his two sons, Roger of Alta Sierra and Thoinas of Palmdale; a brother, Robert of Sacramento; sister Pearl Homolatsch of Sacramento and four grandchildren.

He was a retired employee from the Kern County Fire Dept. She is survived by her husband, Paul R. Ulmer of Onyx; mother Grace Shultz of Torrance; sons Bert of Weldon, Paul of Washington, Jim of Torrance and four grandchildren. Dorothy is also survived by eight brothers and sisters.

Memorial funeral services were held Sunday Nov. 3 at the Highland Chapel Methodist Church in Lake Isabella for Walter Ernest Moeller, 75 of Yankee Canyon, Lake Isabella who died Oct. 25 in Bakersfield after a long illness.

Mr. Moeller was a native of Chicago, and had lived in Lake Isabella for the past 13 years. He was a technical illustrator in his adult live and was retired from the Rockwell International Corp. He was a member of the Highland Chapel United Methodist Church, Kern Valley Art Association, Kern River Valley Historical Society and the Sequoia Men's Chorus. He leaves his beloved wife, Margaret Kirbach Moeller of Lake Isabella; son David W. Moeller, Yucca Valley; daughter Elaine A. Booth of Cerritos and three grandchildren.

Richard Wagner was a member of the Moose and a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army who served as a captain in Europe and the middle east where he commanded a hospital detachment. Born March 17, 1917 in Boden, South Dakota, Richard James Wagner was 68.

A memorial service was conducted Wednesday, Nov. 13 at the Valley Mortuary Chapel for Finn Donald Nagell of Lake Isabella. Mr. Nagell passed away Nov. 5 at U.S. Veterans Administration Medical Center in Los Angeles.
He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Sandy of Aurora, Colorado; grandchildren Cheryl, Todd and Elizabeth all of Denver; brothers Gordon, Elmar and Stanley Nagell of Minnesota and brother-in-law B.J. Maculey of Lake Isabella.
Finn Nagell was a WWII Veteran of the U. S. Army and served as a Sergeant in the infantry.
Officiating at the memorial service were officers of Kern River Valley Chapter 54 of the Disabled American Veteran. Speakers were Rev. Bill Gibson, Jesse E. Wright and Joel Astor.
Born June, 27, 1909 in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, Finn Donald Nagell was 76.

No services were held for Jerry William Sutherland who died Wednesday, Nov. 6 in Bakersfield. Mr. Sutherland was born May 18, 1907 in Arrow Rock, Missouri, He retired from Northrop Aircraft in 1970 after 26 years of service and had lived in Wofford Heights since that time. He was a Member of the Masonic Lodge for 30 years.
He is survived by his son, Charles Sutherland of Sunnyvale; daughter, Barbara Yopp of Santa Rose; Step- daughter, Dee Keeton of Wofford Heights; four grandchildren, Gregory and Steve Sutherland, Patti Yopp, Vickie Weingartner and five great grandchildren.

Mortuary Chapel, Lake Isabella for James I. Heffner of Southlake. Officiating was Pastor James C. Lee of the Church of the Nazarene, Lake Isabella. Mr. Heffner passed away at his residence Nov. 13.

James Heffner served in the U.S. Navy in both world wars from 1918 to 1922 and again as a chief carpenter's mate during WWII where he was awarded a commendation ribbon and a Legion of Merit. He served in both the Atlantic and Pacific.
Mr. Heffner attended the Chicago Art Institute and was a member of the Garret Wykoff Masonic Lodge, No 585 of Lima, Ohio. He retired as a foreman from the Buckeye Pipeline Co. in 1965. Mr. and Mrs. Heffner then resided in Hemet until 1981, then moving to Southlake,

Mr. Reyhill is survived by his wife of 37 years, Leora of Wofford Heights. Mr. and Mrs. Reyhill have resided in the Kern Valley for the past 16 yers. During WW II, Sverre Reyhill served as a Seabee with the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Carnathan passed away Nov. 20 at the University of California- Davis Hospital in Sacramento.
He is preceeded in death by his mother, Ruth, deceased June 27, 1985 and survived by his wife, Sharon of Concord; father John W. LILLIAN MACK
Memorial services were held Friday, Nov. 22 at the United Methodist Church in Kernville for
Lilliam Mack, 68 of Kernville. who passed away Nov. 18 in Kernville, Rev. Jim McGhee officiated. Mrs. Mack was a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, born Sept 6, 1917. She had resided in California since 1944 and in Kern Valley since 1947. She had been a cook for 15 years and was last employed at Kern Valley Elementary School District. She had also worked at Ewings on the Kern for 20 years.
She and her husband were owners of the Kernville Lumber Co. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Mack and her son Morton Mack.
The Macks were instrumental in forming the Houchin Blood Bank in the kern Valley.
Survivors include her daughter, Suzanne Mack of Bakersfield, sisters Miki Kellar of Laguna Hills and Jeanne Hoffman of Cincinnati, Ohio. Those wishing may make donations to Kernville Elementary School, P.O. Bin E, Kernville where a fund has been set up in Lillian's name in order to purchase trees for the school. Lucile C. Taylor passed away Nov. 17 at her home in Wofford Heights. Born June 28, 1903 in Danville, Illinois, Mrs. Taylor was 82 years. She had been a resident of Wofford Heights since 1968, when she and her husband Byard moved from Burbank.
Byard Taylor passed away in 1976. She was an active member of the Kernville United Methodist Church. Graveside services were held Nov. 22 at Forest Lawn In Hollywood Hills.

CORA LINDSEY BURD
Memorial services were held Saturday, Nov. 30 at the Faith United Presbyterian Church in Highland Park, Ca. for Cora Lindsey Burd of Wofford Helghts. She was laid to rest beside her late husband, Dr. D. Clarence Burd, at Valhalla Cemetery.
Auntie Cora passed away at home on Nov. 21 after an especially long and productive life. She was born in Colorado on July 24, 1885 and her 100th birthday was celebrated this past summer by a multitude of family and friends . Cora was a very active inember of the celebration.
Her father, a school teacher, moved the family to Southern California when Cora was about ten years old. They resided in the Santa Monica and Los Angeles areas until about 1906 when they moved to Highland Park.
Cora and Dr. Burd were married Sept. 8, 1925 and they devoted their lives to both secular and religious teaching and ministering to various tribes of American Indians in the Arizona and New Mexico regions. After Dr. Burd passed away in 1962, Cora carried on their work with enthusiasm and determination until she was well into her 90's.
She moved to Wofford Heights in 1978 to be near her closest relative, newphew Chan Lindsey and his wife Margaret. She is also survived by six great-nieces, one great-nephew, twenty great-great nieces and nephews, three great-great-great nieces and one great-great-great nephew.

Mr. Myers passed away Nov. 30 at the Kern Valley Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Bodfish; sons Nick Myers of Bakersfield, Rich Myers also of Bakersfield and 5 grandchildren. Mr. Myers was a member of the Moose and had resided in the Kern Valley for the past 11 years. He was WWII veteran of the U. S. Army. Born March 17, 1917 in Iowa Richard Alfred Myers was 68.
Interment at Kern Valley Cemetery.

Thomas A. Rauch of Southlake passed away Dec. 1 at the Kern Valley Hospital.
He is survived by his wife of 25
years, Emerence of Southlake; sister Gertrude Mccullough of Paramount and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Rauch has been a resident of the Kern River Valley for the past 16 years. Born Dec. 18, 1915 in North Platte, Nebraska, Thomas Arthur Rauch was 69. Cremation arrangements by Valley Mortuary.

Emil Freese of Bodfish passed away Nov. 26 at his residence. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Jane Oliver. Born Dec. 5, 1899 in Germany, Emile Freese was 85. Cremation arrangements by Valley Mortuary.

Julia Moore of Lake Isabella passed away Dec. 13 at Bakersfield Convalescent Hospital.
She is survived by her nephew Lawrence Messenger of Utah. Services will be private with interment at the Kern River Valley Cemetery in Wofford Heights. Arrangements by Valley Mortuary of Lake Isabella.

A funeral service was conducted Tuesday, Dec. 17 at the Highland Chapel United Methodist Church, Lake Isabella for Herman M. Johnson of Lake Isabella. Officiating was Rev. Linda D. Inlow, Pastor.
Mr. Johnson passed away Dec. 12 at the Hilltop Convalescent Hospital. Bakersfield.
He is survived by his wife. Adel of Lake Isabella: daughter Joyce Ross of Cerritos: stepdaughter Emily Moore; stepsons Tom and Larry Birchfield; sister Bea Six of Lake Isabella; grandchildren Gretchen Smith of Vacaville. Penny, Sherry and Jason Johnson all of Prescott. Arizona.
Herman Johnson was a member of the Lake Isabella Chamber of Commerce and the Moose No. 498.
Born Aug. 19. 1904 in Missouri. Herman Mayfield Johnson was 81.

BUSTER RAY SKATES
A funeral service was conducted Monday Dec. 16 at the Memorial Chapel of Crestlawn Cemetery, Riverside for Buster Ray Skates of Lake Isabella.
Officiating was Rev. David Mitchell, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Corona.
Mr. Skaters passed away Dec. 11 at the Kern Valley Hospital, Mt. Mesa.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elsie of Lake Isabella; daughters Pauline Eaton of San Fernando, Mary Louise Lynch of Sylmar; brothers Maurice Skates of Oakland, Paul Skates of Riverside; sister Thelma Bates of Las Vegas; 8 grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren.
Buster Skates was a member of the Elks Lodge of San Fernando and had resided in the Kern Valley for the past 1212 years.
