Mr. Baldwin passed away Dec. 8 at home after illness.
He is survived by his wife, Anne of Kernville; son David of Huntington Beach; daughter, Joan Baldwin of Fountain Valley and three grandchildren.
Mr. Baldwin was a golfer and a member of the KRV Golf Club.

Born March. 1916 in Oklahoma, Mr. Duggan had been a resident of the Kern Valley for the past 20 years. A mass of Christian burial was celetrated at the St. Jude Parish Catholic Church Tuesday, Dec. 24 for Lyman Petersen, Sr. of Lake Isabella. Celebrant of the mass was Monsignor Anthony G. Herdegen, Pastor of St. Jude Parish.
Mr. Petersen passed away Dec. 20 at the Bakersfield Community Hospital, Oildale.
He is survived by lis son, Lyman Peterson, Jr. of Wofford Heights; stepson, Dennis Walling of Lake Isabella; stepson Larry Medlin of Lake Isabella; daughters Becky Rasor of Ft. Worth, Texas; Nancy Petersen of Lake Isabella; step daughter, Tina Martin of Lake Isabella, brothers, William and Amos of Weldon, Waltet of Kernville; sisters Grace Ellis of Tehachapi, Thelma Frazier of Glenville and seven grandebaklien
Lyman Petersen was a native of the Kern Valley and was born in Kernville Dec. 10, 1924. He was a rauch worker most of his life and worked on the Joughin and Smith ranches. He was 61 years.

Lehmann passed away Dec. 20, the victim of a boating accident. He is survived by his son Richard of Simi Valley. Todd also of Simi Valley; parents Eric and Amelia Lehmann of Los Angeles; sister Florence Dodson and husband Warren of Oregon and many nieces and nephews.

LEONARD 'JACK' POTTER
Leonard 'Jack' Potter died Dec. 26 in Big Spring, Texas at the age of 81.
Graveside services for Potter were held Monday, Dec. 30 at 2 p.m. in the Kern Valley Cemetery with Rev. Jim McGhee, Pastor of the Kernville Methodist Church officiating.
Mr. Potter was born Nov. 20, 1904 in Missouri. He married Annie Elaine Little in 1945 in California. He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church of Big Spring. Texas.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WW II and was a member of American Legion Post 711 of the Kern River Valley. Mr. Potter owned and operated an auto dealership in Long Beach and had owned and operated a youth recreation center in Kernville called "Just for Fun", before retiring and moving to Big Spring.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine of Big Spring; one sister, Annabel Fullbright of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and six sisters.

Thomas D. Sugden, a long time resident of Bodfish, passed away at Leesburg, Florida on Dec. 25 He was 78 years and born in 1907 in Connecticut.
He is survived by his spouse. Marie Sugden; son. Thomas Sugden. Jr .. of Long Beach: daughter. Marie Barilone and his grand daughter. Leslie Barilone, both of Leesburg. Florida.
Thomas Sugden retired from Douglas Aircraft 15 years ago, prior to moving to Bodfish from Buena Park.

Anton was a tailor and operated a men's tailor shop on Hollywood Blvd. for 44 years before retiring to the Kern Valley.

Mr. Ray passed away Jan. 5 at the Kern Valley Hospital, Mt. Mesa.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years. Ida of Kernville: sons Fred of Carson City, Nevada, Stanley of Bakersfield; daughters Roberta Duncan of Bakersfield, Louise Gagon of Anaheim; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; brothers, Leonard Ray of Grass Valley, Earl Ray of Bakersfield, Clarence Ray of Newport Beach and many friends and brother Masons in the valley.
Cecil Ray was a Mason for more than 53 years having been initiated in February 1932 and raised to Master Mason In May of 1932. He was also a life member of the Lions Club, having joined in 1959.
Cecil Ray was a resident of the Kern Valley since 1941.
Pallbearers were masonic brothers of Mr. Ray; honorary pallbearers were his grandsons Chris Gagon, Steve Gagon, Bruce Gagon, John Ray, Jim Ray, Bob Ray and Mike Ray.

A lifelong resident of the Kern River Valley, Lucy was born March 12, 1923 in Onyx, the daughter of Willie Andreas, Sr. and Josephine Salazar Andreas. Lucy Arvidson was 62. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 13 In the Miss Funeral Home, Oildale for Dorothy Lora Hemsley, 74 of Lake Isabella, who died Jan. 8 in a Bakersfield Hospital after a long illness.

Graveside services were scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 14 in Rose Hills Cemeter; at Whittier and burial will follow.
Mrs. Hemsley was a native of Hill County, Texas and had lived in Lake Isabella for the past six years. She was a homemaker her adult life.
She is survived by her brother, Clarance Townsend of Lake Isabella; four nephews, Joe Wilson of Walker Basin, Oroville Townsend of Lynwood, Ernie Townsend of Bell Gardens and Doyle Townsend of Covina; niece Yvonne Ritter of Anaheimn.

Mr. Kern was a resident of the Kern Valley for the past 12 years. He was a member of the Kern River Valley Elks Lodge, Mouse lodge and Eagles.
Contibutions in his memory inay be made to the Max Baer Heart Fund through the Bellflower Eagles Lodge, where Mr. Kern was a charter member.

CARL EDWARD GEORGE
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 24 in the Mish Funeral Home. Oildale for Carl Edward George, 42, of Weldon who died Jan. 21 in a Bakersfield Hospital after an extended illness.
Br. Bill Reed of the Mt. Mesa Church of Christ will officiate and burial will follow with full military honors conducted by the Bakersfield Associated Veterans Group in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Carl was a native of Hanford and lived in Bakersfield most of his life and more recently in Weldon. He was a truck driver for the past five years. At one time, he worked for the Mish Funeral Home and Ambulance Services.
He was a Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a graduate of North High School in the Class of 1962 and was a life member of the Church of Christ.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon Ruth George of Weldon; parents, Randolph and Emma Lee George of Weldon; children, Kim George of Oakland, Carlena George of Bakersfield; Cheri George uf Morro Bay and Heather Southern of Bakersfield; and brother, Randy George of Weldon.
Pallbearers were John Bonds, Keith Wilson, Wayne Durham, Ronnie George, James Red and Eddy Gentry.

PAT MERCIER
A funeral service was conducted Monday Jan. 27 at the First Baptist Church, Lake Isabella for Patrick F. Mercier of Lake Isabella, Officiating was Pastor Bill Edwards of the Open Bible Fellowship, Music by Chaplain James Lee, Pastor of the Church of the Nazarene, Lake Isabella.
Mr. Mercier passed away Jan. 23 at the Ridgecrest Community Hospital, Ridgecrest.
Pat is survived by his wife, Judy of Lake Isabella; son Michael of Lake Isabella; daughters Minzelle and Leslie both of Lake Isabella; mother, Nita Mercier of Ridgecrest; brother William of Kenwick, Washington; sister Mary Jane Kilburn of Ridgecrest and four grandsons. Pat was a WWII Veteran of the U. S. Navy and was retired after 28 years with the Los Angeles Police Department, where he served as a uniformed patrolman, detective. investigator and admisistrator. More recently Pat held the post of sports writer with the Kern Valley Sun .
Born Dec. 18, 1926 in Flint,
Michigan, Patrick Fay Mercier was 59.

SANTA L. GAGNON
A funeral service was conducted Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Valley
Mortuary Chapel, Lake Isabella for Santa L. Gagnon of Bodfish.
Officiating was Rev. Monsignor
Anthony G. Herdegen, Pastor of St. Jude Parish Catholic Church, Wofford Heights.
Mrs. Gagnon is survived by her husband of 41 years, Chester H.
Gagnon of Bodfish; son and daughter
in law, Chester T. and Judy Gagnon of Torrance.
Santa Gagnon was a member of the VFW Auxiliary of Hawthorne.
Born August 1, 1924 in New Jersey, Santa Loretta Gagnon was 61 at the date of her passing on Jan. 21, 1986. Cremation arrangements by Valley Mortuary.

A funeral service was conducted Friday, Jan. 24 at the Masonic temple James Road in Kernville for Albert L. Card of Wofford Heights. Officiating were officers of KRV Masonic Lodge No. 827 F .& A.M.
Mr. Card passed away Jan. 20 at his residence in Wofford Heights after illness.
